I grew up with Japanese magazines for teenagers which had a lot of young "vintage" models; Michelle, Nina Ceynowa, Tiina Laakkonen, Lucy Cunningham, Lindsay Thurlow, Caroline Miller, Olatz, Mickey Monroe, Laurence... they often came to Japan for shooting.
