Calling back the tweet about Buble's private concert seems like Leo is there long before than we think

Topshop tycoon Philip Green spends an amazing £6.5m on his 60th birthday party

Billionaire flew out Michael Bublé, Stevie Wonder and Robbie Williams to entertain his rich chums

Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green splashed out £6.5million on his four-day 60th birthday party at one of the world’s most exclusive resorts.

In a joint celebration for daughter Chloe’s 21st birthday, Sir Philip – who is worth £4.5billion – flew out Michael Bublé, Stevie Wonder and Robbie Williams to entertain his rich chums at the Rosewood Mayakoba resort in Mexico. Stevie sang his 1981 classic Happy Birthday to Sir Philip while Robbie serenaded Chloe with his anthem Angels.

The A-list guests, including Simon Cowell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell, Ronnie Wood, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Kate Moss, were treated to £225-a-bottle champagne and caviar. Struggling Britons will be astonished by the amount spent on the bash by Sir Philip and his wife Tina, who live in the tax haven of Monaco.

Even the 155-strong team of staff flown over from the UK to organise the party were treated to five-star hotel accommodation.

Our source said: “It was the most spectacular party I have ever seen. The venue was just stunning, you couldn’t pick a better place in the world.” Guests were told to go to Luton airport on Tuesday with their passports, knowing only that they were being flown to a mystery location across the Atlantic.

Their private jets landed at Cancun airport where a fleet of cars took them to the Rosewood resort 40 minutes away for the start of a series of parties, including one themed on the Oscar-winning movie The Artist.

Located along the Riviera Maya coast – home to the second-largest coral reef in the world – the Rosewood is one of four hotels in the Mayakoba complex. Party planners, security, lighting engineers and caterers had already arrived days earlier to set up.

The first treat for the 150 guests was an afternoon poolside performance by Mexican guitar legend Carlos Santana. Later Michael Bublé, famous for hits such as Everything and Haven’t Met You Yet, was the big name on the bill.

On Wednesday night it was the turn of Spanish heartthrob Enrique Iglesias to belt out his hit Hero for the revellers. But the big surprise came on Thursday for Sir Philip’s actual birthday, when Stevie Wonder made his appearance. He sang Happy Birthday to huge cheers.

The main event was still to come – Friday’s party kicked off with a £150,000, 15-minute fireworks display.

In the grounds of the resort, pictures of Made In Chelsea star Chloe were beamed on to rocks. A light show continued throughout the evening.

Following the fireworks guests, who included TV presenter Tess Daly and former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed, were then taken to a three-storey venue called Chloe’s Club, which was specially constructed for the party.

Inside, a leopard-print carpet had been laid throughout. Tablecloths and seat covers were a mixture of leopard print and black velvet.

There was lavish attention to detail. Even the toilets had cubicles mirrored on all four sides with luxury black toilet paper.

In the washroom area, naked dancers – their modesty covered by leopard-print body paint – provided further entertainment.

Our source said: “The women were dressed to the nines but the men were more casual, some even in T-shirts.”

A three-course meal included a starter of “caviar surprise”, a main course choice of fish and chips or burger – made with expensive Kobe beef – and chips.

For dessert there was a choice of knickerbocker glory, banana split or ice cream parfait.

The meal was accompanied by French wines Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 2009, at £80 a bottle, and Cos d’Estournel 2001, which would set you back at least £120 a bottle.

The source said: “The drinks were flowing and Sir Philip was hopping between tables talking to as many guests as possible.”

After dinner, first on stage was Robbie Williams. His eight-song set finished with his classic hit Angels to huge cheers.

Sir Philip, Tina and shoe designer Chloe, who celebrated her birthday earlier this month, were called on stage and a giant four-tier cake decorated with huge high-heeled shoes was brought out.

Our source said: “Chloe was gobsmacked. Everyone knows about her love for shoes and when she saw the heels she couldn’t stop grinning. It was a shame it was a fake cake but it was a great surprise.”

Next on stage was American singer- songwriter Cee Lo Green, who even performed his explicit song F*** You, which had everyone in hysterics. One of the biggest cheers of the evening was when Gwyneth Paltrow joined Cee Lo on stage for an impromptu duet.

Last on the bill was US singer and Rihanna’s ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who serenaded delighted Chloe. The partying continued to 6am.

The source said: “The dancefloor was packed. Gwyneth Paltrow seemed to be having the most fun – she was really going for it.

“Leonardo DiCaprio was also dancing and was wearing a baseball cap when the rap music was on.”

The celebration finally came to an end yesterday. The hand-picked staff flown over from the UK stayed at the nearby Sandos Caracol Eco Resort.

They included 20 close protection professionals, trained by the Israeli secret service, at a cost of £250,000 for the week. They joined the security guards based at the Mayakoba complex.

Rooms at the Sandos cost between £1,500 and £3,000 for the week but that was a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of accommodation at the Rosewood resort... £1,000 to £3,000 a night.
