Guest quasicartes Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I have always thought that Real Player is the best media player that you can download for free. After reading most of the negative comments on download.com, I was really really surprised. Most of them says that Real Player is filled with ads, and spywares and adwares. Plus, a few of them say that Real Player won't run on their comp, causing their comp to hang. One even mentioned that Real Player is very hard to use.I have always find Real Player very easy to use, the ads in them are more or less equally annoying as the ones found in Windows Media Player. Further, Real Player can play videos that WMA can't play. For example, if there is a weird new video compression, WMA will try to download new codecs. Sometimes, the codecs can't be found, so WMA registers a codec error message. Real Player will get other players to download like DivX Player.Anyway, if you have a media player that is free to download, easy-to-use, and free from spywares and adwares, tell us. It will also be a bonus if the media player allows you to take screen caps, audio and video caps. Quote
avadakedavra Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Media player wise, I use winamp, which basically lets you view pretty much anything. For capping and what not, I use BSPlayer or PowerDVD.I can't stand realplayer because it always, without fail, makes my entire computer seize up. I have no idea why either. I'm to the point that I'm about to uninstall it because it's just annoying the hell out of me Quote

Sunset Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Real Player has spyware in it? I've never had a problem with it. And none of my spyware programs have detected anything. Quote
Guest quasicartes Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Real Player has spyware in it? I've never had a problem with it. And none of my spyware programs have detected anything. 1) I have never had problem with real Player 2) my anti-spywares have detected some spywares that may be due to medias played by real player or cookies caused by real player. 3) Your anti-spywares is probably not working. Perhaps Anyway, everyone needs to know that every anti-spywares has its own spyware signatures. To 100% eliminate spywares from your system, you must have at all the good anti-spywares available. For now, I'll just use Ad-aware, Spybot and Spydoctor. I am so tired of cleaning every single spyware from the system. Quote

pmech Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 WinAMP is ALL you need for any media - Except certain VCD mounted files, where Nero programs work best - Remember, its all about the codecs Quote
