Carla was born in a small country town in New Zealand. Her father was a criminal defense attorney and mother a homemaker who loved to read and paint. The family moved to Edmonton, Canada when she was 8 years old. She became a citizen of Canada and loved watching ice hockey. She loved fashion models so after high school she moved to Santa Barbara in 1990 and met Eileen Ford from Ford models. She did some modeling and was in the pages of American Cosmopolitan and Elle magazines. She preferred acting in commercials then in movies. She worked hard to Americanize her accent. She likes to paint and read in her free time. Currently she works on maintaining her house. She loves hiking and walking in nature. She has two kids whom take a lot of her focus.Carla had a passion to travel the world. Through modeling she visited and lived in many foreign countries. She's set on living in Santa Barbara. She studied graphic design and hold a bachelors degree from CSUN. She has a Masters in business an MBA.

Carla is in the process of changing her last name to Carla Moritz. She was using Carla Hughes as her modeling name. She is the 13th cousin of Howard Hughes. Her great grandfather was born in New York City and immigrated to New Zealand.
