He began his career at 1. FSV Mainz 05 in 2009, spending two years at the club before a £6.5 million transfer toBayer 04 Leverkusen. His performances at the club gained the attention of Chelsea, who signed him for a reported £18 million in 2013.
Schürrle has been a full international for Germany since 2010. He has gained over 30 caps, scoring 14 goals, and was a member of the German squad at UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
