He began playing for the First Team last year to cover for injured players, but he quickly became one of the instrumental pieces of the team that won the League title. Because of his dedication, commitment, and talent, there's no doubt that Miguel Torres is one of the best signings -although he's been with the club for three years- Real Madrid have made. What has this preseason with the team you already played for last year been like? Very good. It's my first preseason with the First Team and I am very excited to be here. I worked hard and experienced many unforgettable moments at the end of last season, but working with the First Team from day one is very special. This is a time of adjusting and understanding the new coach's ideas. Training sessions and matches; there's nothing missing. We are training very well and very hard. We have a lot of matches ahead of us, which will only make the preseason a lot more fun. We'll continue getting into the swing of things and these games will show us where we stand. What's your main goal? My goal is to play in as many matches as possible and to contribute my bit. I came up through the youth system so I know that the first thing a youth teamer has to do is help the team. That's why I have no problem giving my best wherever the coach needs me. In all likelihood, you will continue playing on the left. I am very comfortable along the left. I am a young player who is still developing. The more positions I can play, the more chances I will get on the pitch. All I want is for the coach to be happy with my work. You played a lot for the First Team last year and won the League. Is there still that ambition to win titles? The same or more. Real Madrid always have to think about winning. On a personal level, I want to win as many titles with this shirt. The League was very important for everyone last year. The Club, the fans, and the players needed it. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I hope we repeat. The Champions League, though, is the biggest goal. Winning it in my second year in the First Division would be incredible. Your thoughts on the new signings? They have adjusted well. Schuster's ideas, like sharing rooms, are really helping. The new players have already become one of us. Not only were great players signed, but great people, too. They demonstrated how good they are in the game the other day. They have a lot to offer to this team, so if we had a team that won the League last year, we will be even stronger this year. We're going to make it really hard for our opponents to beat us. Another preparation match tomorrow... It's good to go up against strong teams and teams that are putting the finishing touches on their preseasons. We've just started, so it's a good way to see where were stand. We have to put all the practice and the coach's ideas into play. We want to play football.

Miguel's Press Conference How's your recovery coming along? The important thing is to be in good shape. I don't feel 100% fit if I don't feel strong. That's why it is important for me to recover soon from the injury I've had since the end of the season. I did some ball work this morning and I hope to rejoin the squad this evening. What are your first impressions of Schuster? Everything's good for now. He has a very particular vision and he promotes companionship. My first impressions are very good. The newcomers are adapting quickly and we are enjoying ourselves. We are dying to express the coach's football philosophy. It seems Schuster likes young players. It is very important to have so many young palyers this year in the pre-season, especially those from then youth system. I believe he counts on young players; he treats us like veterans. I think the most important thing is for the youth system players to stay. The more 'youths' we have the better because we give our all at all times. We want to be successful at Real Madrid. Has it sunk in yet that you are now a player on the first team? I didn't consider myself a first team player last season besides playing in so many games. What's your biggest responsibility? I feel responsible for the faith the Club has in me. Last year Míchel had great faith in me; I wouldn't be here if it hadn't been for him. I haven't spoken to him about what he wants of me. I consider I am still developing as a player and that I am not deemed to play specifically in one position. I just want to help the team. Your versatility gives you more chances. Like every other young player, what I really need is to play as many games as possible to prove my worth. It's true that versatility gives you more chances of finding a spot on the team. Do you think Real Madrid need more signings, such as Robben? That's up to the Club to decide. I only know that I am going to compete with any newcomer. I'm sure every new player will want to help the team, and that's a good thing.
