Biography Vendela Marie Kirsebom, was born on January 12, 1967, to Norwegian mother and Turkish father. She don`t remember her father, he disappear out of her life before she was born. Vendela have only on photo of her father, and her mother says she looks like him. Vendela has never been in Turkey and she don`t know anything about him, but she says that one day she will look him up, but it could be difficult because he has a very common last name. She grew up in Norway whit her mother Ingi and grandmother Lulu, until they moved to Stockholm, Sweden when she was about 8 years old. (Her grandmother Lulu is of German heritage and her grandfather is from Kristiansand in Norway). Vendela had a close relationship whit her grandmother and Vendela was by her site when she passed away in 2006 – 102 years old! Vendela was 13-14 years old when her mother married her Swedish step-father, Lennart who she called her “father”. Sun after she got three new siblings. The beautiful blue-eyed model was discovered at the age of 13 by Eileen Ford while eating in a restaurant called “Libertino” in Gamla Stan in Stockholm with her mother and stepfather. Vendela did not understand when a lady came and told her “Your face can make a million dollar”. The woman was Eileen Ford. Eileen was keeping the contact whit Vendela and her family all the time. By the age of 18, she graduated from Rudolf Steiner School and moved to Italy to pursue a career in modeling under the guidance of the famous Ford Models. She models for many years in Europe before she got her first big break. When the cosmetic company Elizabeth Arden was looking for a new model to be their face, told Eileen Ford them that they should try Vendela, because her classical, elegance and photogenic face – like Grace Kelly and she would be perfect for the company and their products. Vendela sign a million dollar contract whit Elizabeth Arden for 6 years (1988-1994) and moved to US. (She was replaced by Amber Valletta as the face of Elizabeth Arden in 1995). In 1993, only 26 years old she was asked to model for the 1993 Sport Illustrated Swimsuit shoots in Spain. Vendela was on another modeling job close by, when she was asked to join them, because one of the other models was unable to model. Vendela was a classic high-fashion model and was not a swimsuit model, but her slim and athletic body was a hit. Her pictures were so good that she was selected to be on their covers! The magazine was one of the three most well selling issues, whit 43 million sold copies! Vendela was one of their regular models for years; she was in the magazine in 1992, 1993, 1997, and the 2004 Sports Illustrated 40th Anniversary Swimsuit Special: American Beauty - together whit supermodels like Elle MacPherson, Paulina Porizkova, Rachel Hunter, Tyra Banks, Valeria Mazza, Heidi Klum, Cheryl Tiegs and Christie Brinkley. Vendela was also to see in their video ”Sport Illustrated Swimsuit ‘97”,”Sport Illustrated 1994 Swimsuit Issue” and appeared in “Sport Illustrated knockouts five decades of swimsuit photography” book. The same year, in 1996 she was asked to be an goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and took over after Audrey Hepburn and she sign a new contract, this time for Revlon`s brand, Almay. Vendela has since had a very successful career. The companies she has represented include Elizabeth Arden, Alma, Almay, Baked Lay's potato chips, Barbour, Diesel Jeans, Eddie Bauer, Elizabeth Arden 'Sunflowers' fragrance, Ellen Tracy, Garnier, Gottex, Hanes Underwear, JH Collectibles, Lay's potato chips, Lipton's Tea, L'Oreal Elnett, Liz Claiborne, Mikimoto, Rampage, Revlon Lasting fragrance, Victoria's Secret, jeweler David Andersen, and Lindex to name some. She has been on magazine cover to Bride`s, Flare, FHM, Zest, Cleo, Vogue (French), Amica, Elle, DT, Damernas Varld, Fitness, Mama, Tigue, Cosmopolitian, Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Esquire, Hamptons, New Woman, Veco Revyn, Mamma, Town & Country, Shape, Self, Café, New York, Razor, Red, and Henne. As her fame grew she branched out into TV, guest-starring on “Murphy Brown” (1995), "The Larry Sanders Show" (1995), "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (2004), and she worked as a tv- reporter during the 1994 Olympic Winter Games at Lillehammer, Norway for Entertainment Tonight and the Norwegian tv-channel Nrk and she was host for the “Swedish The Eurovision Song Contest” in 1999. She also acted in some television shows and films, such as the Italian Tv-series, “Pizza Navona” from 1988, then she had a guest role as fairy Godmother in the TV series “Blossom” (1992), guest role as Princess Vendela in the “Muppet Tonight” (1996), then a small part in the “Batman & Robin” movie in 1997, as Nora Fries, wife to Mr. Freeze, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and then as a bridal gown model in “The Parent Trap” from 1998. She also has been seen in the TV-series “Model Behavior “(2000), and in the TV-movie “Romy and Michele: In the Beginning” (2005), there Katherine Heigl and Kelly Brook had one of the lead roles. Vendela still is a very active figure in the international model community. In 2002 gave Vendela out the book “Model Mommy”, who is a guide to nutrition and exercise for new mothers. In 2004 she had her 20 years anniversary as a model, 37 years old. In 2006 was she face out and fashion reporter for Lindex (clothing line), and she is the face for the Norwegian jeweler’s designer David Andersen exclusive diamante collection and she was fashion reporter on her own TV-show for Norwegian television, TV2 called “Vendelas Verden”. In 2006 was she judge and host for the reality show Project Runway in Norway (“Designspirene”), then in 2007 was she host for the reality show “Norway's Next Top Model” and “Sweden's Next Top Supermodel” at the same time, and she designed her own Eyewear Collections (”Vendela Eyewear Collection”), that same year. In 2008 she was again host and judge for the Norwegian “Norway's Next Top Model”, and she was a guest judge in USA for "America's Next Top Model". She also gave out her own beauty book, called “Vendelas Beauty Bible”. She was 27 years old when she meets Olaf Thommessen, a Roman Catholic of French and Norwegian descent. She had recent brook out after a six years relationship whit the 21 year older American producers Jon Peters. Vendela and Olaf were married 24. August 1996. The couple lived in New York and in 1998 their first daughter was born, Julia Annette Thommessen (2. January 1998) and two years later the second daughter was born, Hannah Felicia Thommessen (25. may 2000). The family moved to Norway in 2001. But the happy mirage did not last, in 2007, 11 years after they got married Vendela and Olaf got separated. She speaks 6 languages, French, Italian, English, German, Norwegian and Swedish. Vendela is good friend’s whit Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Tyra Banks. Women`s new sensation by Models.com It started as a flicker in NY. Louise Pedersen, a quiet girl from Denmark with a cupid bow pout and downcast eyes that gives this kind of...disdainful edge to her classic Nordic beauty is making her round of show castings. This is her first NY season. She's on the mega-wattage board of Women but no one's ever heard of, much less glimpsed this girl before. Louise has never set foot on a major runway before, has very little in her book (one test and a few Polaroids) yet here she is nestling in the package amidst Isabeli and Frankie and Carmen. Every time she leaves a casting however, something funny happens. Yet another client calls up to testify to the totality of Louise's effortless cool. And to confirm her. For Calvin. For Marc. For DKNY. One after the other. It's a respectable start. Then Louise gets to Milan and a bonfire of curiosity explodes when she comes ambling down Prada’s runway as the first girl out. By October when she touches down in Paris, the bonfire is a raging firestorm with the Danish stunner emerging as the must-have girl of the season. When it is all over, should you care to rank the Top 10 new Faces in terms of volume of shows booked, it is Louise who sits on top of the heap. There was another model on that train and by the time we reached the Central Station, the boss of this agency was there to see me. I started laughing at them. I said "no" to start with actually. I take it you had no plan to model at that time. Exactly I was on my way to Norway...on my way to work... I was working as a waitress at my boyfriend's parents' hotel...So when I got back to Copenhagen I went up to see the agency people. Just to say hi. And they flipped out in bliss... And me not being used to this world at all and the double kissing and the "Oh honey you're gorgeous". I'm like Oohh...K.. It took me a while to leave my ties behind in Denmark and start traveling. How do you explain the buzz you generated in your very first season I don't know. You tell me. (lol) Mario Testino had a lot to do with this I'd say. I saw him here in NY just before I left for Milan so I think he liked me because he was kind of spreading the word. I'd go to castings and people would casually go..."Ohhh you're the girl Mario was talking about.!" Next thing you know you're opening Prada. Did you know you'd be first exit at the fittings? I found out, literally, five minutes before the show. In fact it was another model who I had met at a previous show who told me I was opening Prada. It came as a shock. I told her she must have had me mistaken for another Louise (lol) Any dirty looks from the veterans?... Oh not at all. A lot the established girls are actually quite sweet. Once you're on that level of success and making that much money, I think you've long left the backstabbing behind. Glancing at your charts I see you're fresh from the set of Mert+Marcus. Yes. We were just in Cornwall. Cornwall. Yipes! It's a beautiful place. It was seven hours from NY to London, then 6 hours from London to Cornwall but it's that willingness to go that extra mile to find unique things that makes them so great as photographers. How does your family feel about this sudden success? My family is happy, nervous, a bit concerned. They're saying "Don't let the money get to you. If it gets too overwhelming, come home". Speaking of which I'm going home for Christmas and New Year's. My birthday's a week before Christmas so I'm very much looking forward to that. You'll be a celebrity in your hometown! Not in Denmark. It's not like that. Helena Christensen can walk down the street and she'll be noticed but it won't be a mob scene harassing her or anything like that. What's Louise's secret passion? I paint. It's how I de-stress. It's figurative pieces of nude women. In the spirit of Gustav Klimt. Of course you really don't make any money doing that. (lol) Animals are another huge passion of mine. If all of this goes incredibly well I'm planning on buying some property and either breeding some dogs or some horses. What's that one moment in your modeling career thus far that was just like the movies... It's not like the movies (lol) Like any job you have to be punctual, you have to work hard, you have to be professional. There were so many moments. I can't pick one. Being on the Gucci set was an incredibly big moment...Doing all those shows was an amazing adrenaline rush. A big "moment" was right at the start in New York, when I did the Calvin Klein show because that's a name that you see everywhere in the world...on underwear, jeans, perfumes. My mom knows Calvin Klein, that was what I was thinking when I walked out and there were the lights and the people. I thought, My God. It really all does exist. made by me
