Scott Hamilton Bairstow, born April 23, 1970 in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada, is an actor. He played the character Ned Grayson on the dramatic American television series Party of Five. He also played the character of Newt Call on two different Canadian series -- Lonesome Dove: The Series and Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years, and appeared in the short-lived Harsh Realm.
In 1994 he married Marty Rich and together they had two sons, Casey William (1995) and Dalton (1998). In 2000 they divorced.
In December 2003, Bairstow pleaded guilty to second degree assault after having been accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl related to his ex-wife back in 1998 and continuing the relationship with her until 2001. As a result, he was sentenced to 4 months in jail in Washington state and also agreed to undergo a sexual deviancy evaluation and to be under supervision for one year after his release. He was originally charged with second-degree rape when initially accused of having sex with the girl. Bairstow has never actually admitted to the act, but stated that he plead guilty because he felt that, despite his innocence, he would be convicted if he went to trial. Although released in 2004, it was nearly two years before he landed another role.
