Boorem was born in Tucson, Arizona to Benjamin and Holly Boorem. She has become known for starring in the films Smile (2005) and Sleepover (2004). She had supporting roles in the films Carolina (2003), Blue Crush (2002), Hearts in Atlantis (2001), Along Came a Spider (2001), The Patriot (2000) and Jack Frost (1998); and recurring roles on the TV series' Dawson's Creek and Touched by an Angel. She can also be seen in the Lifetime Movie drama, Augusta, Gone and is currently working on a TV movie for ABC Family called The Initiation of Sarah. Boorem has been nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Sidekick (for her role on Dawson's Creek), and for Young Artist Award nominations. Boorem's father Benjamin Boorem was found guilty in 2002 by federal court in Kansas city to money laundering. Benjamin had been on the run alluding authorities since 1994. He has served some jail time and is currently on parole. There has been some discrepancies as to Boorem's middle name. It has previously been thought her middle name was "Juliet" when infact according to friends and family her middle name is "Sue". Mika currently lives in Marina Del Rey with her two Brussels Griffon dogs.
