3 Day Grace Three Days Grace (also known as 3DG or TDG) is a Canadian hard rock/post-grunge band formed in 1997. The band consists of Adam Gontier, Neil Sanderson, Brad Walst and Barry Stock. History Originally formed as a quintet in 1992 under the name "Groundswell", they changed their name to Three Days Grace and became a trio in 1997. They released a 3 song self titled demo in 2000. The group moved from Norwood to Toronto and met producer Gavin Brown,formerly of the band Big Sugar. Brown helped produce their self-titled debut album, Three Days Grace, which was released in 2003; it reached the top ten of the American albums chart, the top 100 of the Canadian Billboard 200 albums chart, and number-one on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Upon completion of the album the band recruited Barry Stock to help on lead guitar to give Adam breathing room on stage and on tour. The album's lead single, "I Hate (Everything About You)", reached number one on the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and number two on the Canadian Rock charts. The second single, "Just Like You", gave the group a second number-one in America and also hit number one on rock charts in Canada. Their third single, "Home", was also a hit, charting at #2 on the US Modern Rock chart, and was the second most played Active Rock song of 2005. A fourth single, "Wake Up," was only released in Canada and also achieved success on the Canadian Rock chart. Videos for the first three singles were widely played on MTV, MTV2, Muchmusic and Fuse. Brown won a Juno Award in 2004 for his production on the album and his work on Try Honesty by the band Billy Talent. Three Days Grace was also nominated for best New Group Of The Year but lost to Billy Talent. On March 31, 2006, the band released their first single off of their album One-X entitled "Animal I Have Become," which managed to reach number one on both the US Modern Rock and US Mainstream Rock. One-X was released on June 13, 2006, and landed at #5 on the U.S. Billboard 200. In the record's first week, it sold over 78,000 copies. The album's second single, "Pain", was also released topping the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts in December of 2006 and the Modern Rock Tracks Chart in February of 2007. "Never Too Late" was released as the third single off of One X in April of 2007. The band has already started work on their third album, it is scheduled to come out some time in 2008. J.D. Fortune J.D. Fortune is the stage name of Jason Dean Fortune (born September 1, 1973 in Mississauga, Ontario), a Canadian rock singer, winner of the 2005 CBS reality television series Rock Star: INXS, and the current singer of rock band INXS for their latest album Switch. He was born in Mississauga, Ontario, and raised in Salt Springs, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. J.D. grew up listening to his grandfather sing and started performing at a very young age. He attended Cawthra Park Secondary School and West Pictou Consolidated School but dropped out before graduating. He was living in his car when he applied for and was offered a job on CBS's TV show, Rock Star: INXS. Bennison is his estranged father’s name, and Fortune is his mother’s maiden name. He has a sister, Sarah-Jane, and a pug named Presley. After several years in and out of the music world, he finally began to strike gold as an original musician. Fortune drew bigger and bigger audiences, ultimately performing at the Friendship Festival and at Toronto's Skydome in front of tens of thousands of people. He also works as an entertainer and pop songwriter for an Ontario TV show. A vegetarian and a smoker, he has worked as a martial arts teacher, Elvis impersonator, and served in the Canadian military. For a time, before seeking the role with INXS, Fortune lived and co-owned a business in Oakville, Ontario. Fortune currently is single. He had a brief relationship with Estella Warren after shooting the video clip for INXS's single Afterglow. On Friday April 7, 2006, J.D. appeared on Australian radio station Triple M with fellow band member, Tim Farriss. Speaking to Triple M's morning show team, The Cage, J.D. and Tim spoke of how much acceptance they are receiving as the new INXS, especially in the United States and Canada. J.D. said that he had always dreamed of singing INXS songs in front of thousands of people where they all sing the words right back at him but he never thought he'd see the day. J.D. sang acoustic versions of their hit single Pretty Vegas and Mystify, an earlier INXS hit. J.D. revealed that his first meeting with the brother of INXS' first lead singer, Michael Hutchence, who committed suicide, initially was a scary experience. "I met his brother Rhett in Australia a while ago and it wasn't pleasant. He was wearing a t-shirt saying, 'That's not my brother'. "His friend had a t-shirt on which said, 'Mock Star: INXS'. I had to say something, like, 'You don't know me, I don't know you. We're just humans.' "Something changed after that and, by the end of the night, it was a different story. Rhett took the t-shirt off and bought another one. The new one said 'Boner Doner'. He hugged me and said he was sorry." He also stated his thoughts on Reality Television: "I think reality TV cheapens everything--I'm not a fan--but I tried to see past the audition process," J.D. said. "I went there because of Michael Hutchence and INXS." "I want to pay homage to Michael, but I'm not trying to recapture the past. I'm trying to fill my own shoes with custard." Fortune is currently working on a solo album, Death of a Motivational Speaker, which is expected to hit shelves in the fall of 2007. 3 Doors Down 3 Doors Down is an American alternative rock band formed in Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1994. History The band formed in Escatawpa, Mississippi as a trio, consisting of vocalist and drummer Brad Arnold, bassist Todd Harrell and guitarist Matt Roberts. Brad Arnold is the vocalist for the band and played the drums on the studio recording of their album The Better Life. He started singing full time for the band after a gig where no one else would sing except him and he found he enjoyed it. Greg Upchurch, formerly of Puddle of Mudd, is the drummer who replaced Daniel Adair in 2005. Daniel left to be the drummer for Nickelback. Josh Freese contributed drums for the band's second studio album, Away from the Sun. Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson produced and played on 3 tracks for the record, "Dangerous Game", "Dead Love", and "Wasted Me" (only "Dangerous Game" appeared on the album). Daniel Adair was the drummer on Seventeen Days and the live album, Another 700 Miles. In 2005 the band released a "live" DVD titled "Away from the Sun "LIVE" from Houston, Texas". The DVD was produced and directed by Academy Award nominated Alex Gibney and Doug Biro. Samsung tops the chart with Girls Aloud Samsung Electronics announces a new commercial partnership with Girls Aloud which will involve a programme of joint marketing, promotional and product opportunities. The deal will enable Samsung to develop its music strategy. The partnership reflects Samsung’s continuing consumer brand strategy development, which is focussed on creating meaningful partnerships with companies and individuals in music, gaming and design. Brokered by Universal Music UK’s newly created Business Development team, the deal with Girls Aloud who are signed to Polydor Records (part of Universal Music UK) is the latest move from Samsung to create specific music propositions involving artists and key Samsung consumer technology products such as MP3s and mobile handsets. Anthony Marsella, Chief Marketing Officer said: “Universal Music has developed an unrivalled reputation for being both forward thinking and the UK’s leading music label. To help take our music brand strategy to the next level, we wanted to work with an artist that could give us instant access to millions of homes in the UK and would also give us credibility with those audiences. The partnership kicked off with Samsung providing sponsorship for the Dublin leg of Girls Aloud’s Greatest Hits Tour. Petra Nemcova Starved Herself To Fit In Czech beauty Petra Nemcova used to starve herself in order to fit in with other models. The supermodel is famed for her shapely curves now, but admits she tried a range of diets, including a fruit-only eating plan, at the beginning of her modeling career. She tells Britain's Closer magazine, "I may have curves now, but when I started it was in the middle of the heroin chic phase. The likes of Kate Moss and Jodie Kidd almost forced everyone to be really skinny. I tried many diets, from eating very little or just protein to having only fruit all day. It was terrible for my metabolism and took me years to recover."
