"Left-back" Cicinho Revolts Against Schuster, Threatens To Leave Cicinho has not taken kindly to being palyed out of position, and threatened to leave the club if that continues to be the case. After only the first match of the season, Bernd Schuster has dissent in his ranks to deal with. The coach dropped his first hints regarding his plans for the season in yesterday's friendly against Stoke City, and Cicinho feels he is on the wrong end, literally. While the first half of the 2-0 win saw Sergio Ramos on the right and Miguel Torres on the left, the second was conspicuous for Cicinho finding himself on the left, with Salgado playing in "his" position. The player has previously dismissed speculation linking him with a move away, particularly to Roma, insisting he wants to stay and prove his worth, but seemed very irked after the game, irked enough to threaten to leave. "I am not confortable on the left and would like to play in my position," he said on Spanish radio. "I want to play at right back, and if that is not the case, I will find myself another club, because I do not see myself playing there [on the left] all year." He insisted that he still wanted to stay at Madrid, but only if he was wanted for what he has to offer. The Brazilian warned that offers from other clubs were most certainly not a problem. "My desire is to continue here, but only if it makes me happy," he quipped. "I have several offers on the table, and we will see what happens. "It is certain that there are problems playing on the left, and that Schuster has asked me to paly there. My will is to play in my position." Whether Schuster handles this with kid gloves or an iron hand will tell us plenty about what will happen at Madrid over the coming 12 months. What is certain is that the gauntlet has been thrown to his man managing skills.

WITH THE RIGHT ATTITUDE A week of intense training is about to draw to an end. For Ronaldo this phase off athletic work is fundamental to face a season full of appointments. - RONIE'S DECLARATIONS - First days of work at Milanello but Ronaldo had already started in Brazil. How are you? "I'd say I'm doing well, it's tough, for everyone: it's been a very tough week, and so will the next one be, but we need to keep our engines running throughout the season." Are you making a countdown to the end of the preparation or for the start of the games that matter? "I can't wait to start with the various competitions because we know of the importance of these weeks of hard work, it's physical but I don't think anyone likes doing only athletic work." Ronaldo became a Rossonero in January. This is your first training camp with Milan: have you noticed differences with respect to other teams? "All preparations are tough but I'd say at Milan there is a more personalised work which allows every player to exploit the characteristics of every player to the fullest." Does the fact you will be participating to the Champions League this season give you more motivation? "Certainly, participating to the Champions League from the start is an extra satisfaction but we have to participate for the whole season, there are many competitions ahead of us." What can Milan do in this season? "Many good things, let's hope we start well. This year everyone starts with the same amount of points. We are satisfied with this start, we still have to improve, we have to work hard in these weeks then on the pitch we will see the results."

Madrid And Arsenal Strike Reyes Deal - Report Reports coming out of Spain suggest that Real Madrid have agreed a 9.2 million euro deal with Arsenal over the transfer of Jose Antonio Reyes. The money exchanging hands does come as a surprise, though, given earlier reports that Arsenal have been demanding at least 15 million euros for the player, but the Marca insist this morning that the deal has been struck. Schuster had indicated immediately after taking charge that he would like Reyes to stay, but Madrid have been struggling to agree a price with the Gunners despite having dished out 30 million for Pepe. It appears, though, that Arsenal have been the ones to succumb, and have lowered their demands after Lyon withdrew from the race to sign the winger. The deal is supposed to be completed on Monday or Tuesday, once the last remaining creases are ironed out. The player will sign a four year contract. The news has not been confirmed yet, but it was reported yesterday that Arsenal had given Reyes a final 48 hours to sort his future out, or prepare to return to London against his wishes. If true, it is a piece of news that will be welcomed by many Real Madrid fans, and by the player, who played a title winning role in the final La Liga clash last season, heralding a 3-1 comeback win.
