Carlo Ancelotti: “We remain very sorry for what happened to Ronaldo, even though following the operation that went well, we start seeing a bit of positive. However, we remain sorry, it's a bad injury. Ronaldo was not in the best condition, but if we must make the list of players who were not in the best condition, there were also Inzaghi, Serginho and others. One thing is to be in good condition, another is to be available to play. Ronaldo was available to play. If anyone talks about players I lacked any respect to, I don't know what they are referring to. I think about it, but I continue to not understand about whom or what he is talking about. What interests me is just my rapport with Ronaldo, not written things with little attention. Following the injury, Ronaldo was very affectionate with all of us, he was almost encouraging us, that’s what matters. It’s an injury which hit all of us, not only those of Milan, but the entire football world. He has shown great sensibility and is respected by everyone. If Ronaldo’s career is over or not, no one can say. Neither I nor Seedorf can know that. Only Ronaldo can, he’s the one who knows what he’s facing. It all depends from his will. I wish him that he finds the will, he's still in time to make important things. Now it all depends from him, if he has overcome the first injury he can also overtake the second one. Ronaldo must face an important rehabilitation knowing that he’s 31 years old and that he can still play for two or three years, he must know all of this and if he wants to reach it he can succeed. He knows that he cannot play until 40 years of age, both because he’s not Maldini and also because he’s an attacker. Milan will do everything to make sure that Ronaldo gets his will back to be a great champion".

Pato's message to Ronaldo Alexandre Pato shows his support for Ronaldo and hopes he can recover in time to face Arsenal next week. “Ronaldo is Il Fenomeno, all of the world is with him right now,” said the Milan striker after his teammate’s horrific injury. The former Real Madrid and Inter star will be out of action for at least nine months after snapping the tendon in his left knee during the 1-1 draw with Livorno. Pato missed that game due to a sprained ankle, but hopes to be back on the field for the Champions League showdown in London. “I want to return as soon as possible and am doing everything the fitness coaches tell me to. The ankle is doing much better.” Kaka and Clarence Seedorf were also injured, but both are expected to feature in Saturday’s Serie A match with Parma.

AC Milan vice-president hopeful over Ronaldo injury ROME (AFP) - Brazilian star Ronaldo's left knee is in better shape than his right knee was eight years ago, AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told Ansa news agency on Friday. Ronaldo, who faces a major battle to save his career, underwent his third knee operation in Paris on Thursday. The 31-year-old now faces at least nine months on the sidelines and will only be able to think about returning to action with AC Milan at the end of the year. Ronaldo flew to Paris after rupturing a tendon in his right knee during AC Milan's 1-1 draw with Livorno on Wednesday. Galliani said while at an Italian league meeting in Milan: "He (Ronaldo) is still feeling a little pain but it seems the tendon of the (left) knee is in better shape than that of the right knee which was operated on eight years ago." Renowned French surgeon Professor Gerard Saillant, who supervised the two-hour operation and who operated on Ronaldo in both 1999 and 2000, said he would be out of action for nine months. "I have not spoken directly with Leonardo (the club official accompanying Ronaldo)," Galliani added. "I am not a doctor and therefore I will not be making a guess at how long he will be out. "He will need to stay in hospital about a week but after that I do not know where he will decide to go -- whether he will return to Milan or go to Madrid with his son." The Italian press are naming possible replacements for Ronaldo at AC Milan, including Chelsea's Didier Drogba, Ronaldinho of Barcelona and Karim Benzema who plays for Lyon. "I am not ruling out bringing in another player," said Galliani. "But we will have to see this summer. Our aim this season is to finish fourth in the league meaning we will qualify for the Champions League."- Wesley Sneijder
SNEIJDER SUFFERS RIB INJURY Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder appears certain to be ruled out of next week's crucial Champions League encounter with Roma after suffering an injury in training. The Holland international fractured a rib on Friday and media in Spain are reporting that the player could be sidelined for between four and six weeks. Sneijder, 23, will likely miss the first leg of Real's last-16 Champions League tie against Roma in Italy on Tuesday in addition to this weekend's Primera Liga match at Real Betis. A statement on club website www.realmadrid.com read: "The midfielder, Wesley Sneijder collapsed injured during Friday's training session. "The Dutchman suffered a serious fracture in his left ribcage, which will prohibit him from playing in the next Primera Liga game against Betis."- Raúl González Blanco
