Since you think you know exactly how every German feels and are therefore able to make a sweeping statement that generalizes 80 million people, I don't think I have anything left to say to you. We will agree to disagree.

There is a flip side, and that side is total ignorance: I can tell you that in Germany, free speech applies until they suppress all symbols of Nazism and aspects of the crimes of their parents and grandparents. In Japan, knowledge of the crimes of the imperial generation are also suppressed. A lot of this is related to post-war and cold war politics related to the iron curtain. For instance, in Germany today there is a 'good German' meme that is believed by the average citizen- that the Nazis were some sort of 'external force' a type of alien and minority of bad germans that managed to control the majority of good Germans. The worse ignorance, of course, is the belief that the holocaust was the only extermination policy when in fact the bulk of the mass murders were inflicted on Soviet and slavic peoples by men & women without SS runes. By presenting this story to Germans, it partially absolves their nationalistic past by marginalizing the crimes committed in the name of 'der nation'. It is good to present to all historically accurate knowledge of the past and make certain that people understand how the past evolves into the present. It is not good to distort or dehumanize in the service of nationalism or the development of a patriotic, triumphant narrative that distorts the foundations on which the present is built.. But of course, all such related affairs can be exaggerated, distorted and abused for the goals of whatever interested party. Rice bowls to be filled....and filled to the brim until they're overflowing...

It's not the first time VS (or any fashion brand for that matter) has used attributes from one culture for one of their outfits with hardly any criticism, so why is this one any different?

I don't hate Karlie! I just don't want to see her in anything VS related, because in my opinion her look doesn't fit the brand at all. And the way VS has been trying to hype her is annoying. Still I love her on the runway, I think she's one of the best High Fashion models around and she comes off likeable in interviews.

On the positive side we'll see Karlie one time less.

She's in Miami then... hopefully we'll discover in her next tweets what she's shooting, though she was rather secretive the last time she was there. Its definitely not for Victoria's Secret, since Barbara Palvin tweeted they're shooting in Mexico tomorrow (or day after)... Gracie Carvalho is shooting VS in Miami since yesterday. Yeah, I hated the clown outfit, too. But I don't think there were many good outfits in the opening segment. Adriana looked like she was wearing leather diapers, Joan was a tiger and Doutzen was a poodle. I don't know what Karlie or Barbara F were supposed to be, but they looked ridiculous too. I can't complain. She was in the opening segment, got two looks and big "wings" and most importantly SHE CLOSED THE SHOW!!!

I thought Alessandra looked the best she has in years in the show. I don't think she has to go yet, but if she's out at least she is going on a high note.

I liked both Bruno and Rihanna. Can't get that "Fresh Off The Runway" song out of my head now.

^That sounds like a PR stunt to me. I liked "Fresh off the runway" for the closing segment. Rihanna may not be the best singer, but the beat has a lot of energy and from the clips I've seen it looks like many models were walking really fierce in that segment.

Iza just kills it every time! It's easy to see why she's a VS favourite.

In a backstage interview from the VSFS, that aired on German TV, she mentioned working with Alessandra Ambrosio a few months ago. I wonder if that was for VS.

Yeah, this wasn't a good show for Bregje. Don't know what happened with the make up, but she didn't look too good.

TONI CLOSED THE SHOW!!! I will celebrate forever and casually mention this in every topic from now on! Doutzen killed it this year. She was definitly the star of the show!
