Life & Style Magazine Camila Alves Dishes on Her Most Decadent Meal Cooked by Hubby Matthew McConaughey Camila Alves is one lucky woman! In an all-new My Life, My Style, the model, 30, talks all about hubby Matthew McConaughey, 43, — and his inner chef. A handsome and talented guy who can cook? Talk about being married to a catch! Get a sneak peek of our fun — and fashionable — interview with the 30-year-old brunette beauty, who’s mom to the pair’s three kids, below: My most decadent meal ever was… A perfectly cooked 1 5/8-inch grass-fed steak that my husband made for me, with a melted homemade blue cheese topping using fresh herbs from the garden. He paired it with the best red wine. A star whose style I love is… Reese Witherspoon. Whether she is at the part with her kids or on a red carpet, she always looks polished and beautiful! My favorite place to be is… Our home in Austin, Texas. There’s a big yard for the kids to play in and some of the best food in the world! The fashion item I can’t live without is… The snakeskin hobo bag from my MUXO collection for QVC. I love it because it holds everything under the sun – from lipstick to sippy cups – and I still look fashionable!

Great interview! CBS Minnesota, ramshackle.com 9/9/13 Curiocity: Q&A With Camila Alves McConaughey She’s a mother, a model, a designer and a wife to a superstar husband. So, it’s easy to see why Macy’s wanted Camila Alves to represent their brand. Alves, who’s married to actor Matthew McConaughey, said she only puts her name behind products she believes in and when it came to the style and fashion of INC, she knew it was something she wanted to be involved with. “It’s really easy to do all kinds of endorsements and get money. It’s really easy to do that in this business,” she said. “But I think you kind of lose your authenticity and the truth that you carry. So I got to know about the brand and the one thing that I really fell in love with is that they really cover all bases and they cover all women, and all styles of women in all sizes — and that’s what I like to do in my own personal life.” While she doesn’t design for the line, she said she fell in love with the clothes and was thrilled to be the face of the brand. In her first visit to the Mall of America, Alves hosted an INC fashion show and had a chance to meet INC fans and Macy’s shoppers on Saturday. In a few moments before the event began, Alves was kind enough to chat with us about everything from fashion to dressing her celebrity hubby. ——- What were some of your favorite pieces of the INC line – or some of the trends that you saw? So for the fall, we have a lot of the moto biker trend, a lot of embellishments, a lot of geographic prints. A lot of black and white. A lot of things that can help you look slim and taller and longer, more elongated and we always love those. I do really love the pants in this line. They’re really comfortable, extremely comfortable, and they just hug you in the right places and they just sculpt. The denim is fantastic. I love the things that they have now where it’s easy to travel with, they don’t wrinkle, you just roll it up and you’re good to go. And you can get different tops to mix and match with it, basic pieces, but if you put a pop of color, you’re in. Do you think your style has changed since becoming a mom? How so? It has, for sure. Well, my everyday style changed to be more simple. I don’t have as much time to put an outfit together. Back then, before kids, you work on accessories, or this or that, how can I make this different or unique? I used to joke, I had a collection of sunglasses and bracelets and earrings. I would change it up all the time. Now, after three kids, I’m lucky if I have one pair of sunglasses in my purse, you know what I mean. My jewelry is not changing. I have my go-to pieces that I never change for my everyday look. Now, for the red carpet, I feel like it’s a bit more of a mature look now. I still want to look sexy but I don’t feel as comfortable in stuff that I would really be into early on in my life. I just feel like it grows in a woman when she becomes a mother. I think that’s part of the beauty of it, instead of trying to chase the young … you had that, you lived that, now it’s the evolution of that. So I think a little more classic, a little more grown up. And your hubby, Matthew McConaughey, always look fantastic on the red carpet. How much say do you have in his looks? Thank you. It goes in and out because sometimes, like right now, he’s in Toronto and I’m going to go meet him at the Toronto Film Festival tonight and I’m not there to see what he’s going to wear. So sometimes it’s like, ‘Oh, what is he going to pick?’ kind of thing. But if we’re in the same place, we’re just like a regular couple, you know. We check in with each other. Since you’ve been doing these Macy’s events and meeting shoppers, what’s one thing they always ask you? You know, the INC brand customer, they’re very specific and they know what works for them. I had another event where this lady came in and she was maybe 50 or 55 and she came in and she was like, ‘You know, I only dress in INC and that’s the only brand I buy and every month we have a competition at work for who’s the best dressed and I win every month.’ And she was very proud about that. It’s also a mixed culture – they’re looking for something that fits them. You really see that mix of all-American to all mix. When you see them shopping, you’re like, ‘Wow, this is as vast of a window of shoppers as you can get.’ It’s pretty neat to see. What are three things every woman should have in her closet? So a skinny jean – I think every woman should have one that fits them right. The trick with skinny jeans is if you have really wide hips, get a black one so it’s more slimming. A peplum top, I think everyone should have that and we have that in the collection, full leather ones. Peplum tops because it’s on trend. It’s not going away. It was in trend a while back, it’s in trend again now. It’s not really going anywhere for a little while. The great thing about peplum tops is if you’re petite, it gives you curves. If you’re curvy, it kind of is forgiving in the belly. So it’s really for any body shape. Anyone can dress up or dress down peplum. And a third one? An embellished top is always a thing to have, as well, because if you don’t know and you have an important meeting or have a dinner that you’re trying to figure out what to wear, if you put nice pants and high heels and that top, then you’re done. Nice hair, nice makeup and you’re done. You don’t need to think about it. I think those three pieces are important must-have’s. I saw your tweet about Labor Day. So what’s your opinion on the white rule? White. Yeah. Any excuse to use white, for sure. What are the big trends for fall this year? Oh man, that’s a tricky question because I’m not really following what everybody’s doing. The thing with fall is that people – I’ll tell you this, I think people need to watch with fall is that, we go from summer to fall and all of sudden you’re going from pretty bright colors to all dark, because you’re getting ready for the winter time. Fall is a time when you can still have fun with colors – you don’t have to try to switch everything to black or brown. You can get those pieces because you’re transitioning from all the summer stuff, but play with pops of colors and play with accessories. Where do you pull inspiration from when designing for your handbag line? You know, my mom and I have been doing that for over eight years now and we’ll pull inspiration from each other a lot. What we’re doing in our lives, what transition we’re going through in our lives. I travel a lot, travel all over of the United States and out of the country so a lot of inspiration is coming from that. But most of the time it’s from nature. We’ll go to the Grand Canyon and the colors you see in the Grand Canyon, the colors you see in the mountains. A lot of the inspiration is coming from that.

Refinery29.com 60 Seconds With Camila Alves Unlike the fashion capital of the nation, the Big Apple, we don't often see runway models strutting around our West Coast turf. So, when we heard fashion star Camila Alves was heading to the Bay to debut Macy's newly in-store I.N.C home collection (it was only available online in the past) as the line's brand ambassador, we knew we had to snag a few minutes with Matthew McConaughey's wifey to talk paparazzi dramz, her must-have beauty potions, and the places she'll be stopping by while in the city. You’re here to debut the in-store launch of the I.N.C home collection. What are some home decorating tips that you’ve picked up? “Your home is an extension of who you are. What I love to do in my house is find very unique things from everywhere I go, I'm always collecting things for my home. I also like to mix things that are really fine with really inexpensive things. That mix really creates a good vibe. It's not pretentious. And, you'd be surprised at how much you can do to make your home look beautiful with very inexpensive things. It's about how you play and place them, and finding unique things that you never thought could be used as a piece of art or decoration.” What drew you to becoming a brand ambassador for I.N.C? "When they reached out to me a little bit over two years ago, I was like, ‘Okay, well, let me become really familiar with the brand.’ I remember I was in Texas at the time, and I walked into the store and I saw I.N.C, and it was plus-sized. I found out that day that I.N.C has plus-sizes all the way to petite, and I was like, 'That's neat to have a brand that covers all sizes.' Then, I started to learn about the brand, and saw that they covered all fashion styles. The fact that they embrace every single one of us was a big thing for me.” You also design handbags for your line My Muxo. What are some handbag trends that you love right now? “I would say mixing around with the bohemian-chic trend. We have a lot of different tones of blues right now and that's a big thing, it can go with anything that you have. The main thing that I love doing to bags is adding practicality to it. I have this one bag now that looks very sophisticated and has a clean look, but it's got this secret pocket in the bottom that can fit your shoes and stuff like that.” San Francisco is a tech hub, is there anything tech-y you can’t live without? “Google, really. My son is five now and he's very inquisitive about everything, so he wants to know what everything means, and how, and when it started, and how does it happen, and who made it, and all of that. I only know so many answers that I get to the point where I'm like 'Umm, I have to look that up!' So, Google has been a good friend these days.” What are some places in the city you want to explore while in San Francisco? “I was looking to go to the Exploratorium. I heard it's great. And, I heard of an indoor-trampoline place [House of Air]. I'm thinking of taking my kids there.” You're obviously gorgeous. What are your go-to products when it comes to makeup and hair? “I have to keep it simple. My skin gets crazy with anything that I do to it, so I've been using a brand called Nude — I've been using its omega oil and serum. For makeup, Dior has this great lipstick and lipgloss. It enhances your lips' natural color, it's moisturizing, and it's natural and very pretty.” What model stereotype would you like to get rid of? “A lot of people say models don't think, and you'd be surprised, a lot of them are going to become doctors, lawyers, and do major things. I'm even giving them credit. Many have full-on businesses and companies and are doing a lot of charity work. Yeah, there's some of them out there who don't really have a thought of their own, of course, but that's with any business you get into. But, a lot of the girls out there, they're really smart. They're really, truly smart.” You were the host of Shear Genius — would you ever consider having a reality show? “My own? I couldn't do that. That's just not the kind of family that we are. There's nothing wrong with those who want to do it. It just doesn't work for us. My husband is in the position that, I wouldn't even know how that would work. Our lives are very public, and I couldn't imagine being more public than we already are. The private times that we have, I truly cherish them. We go to places around the country, but because how we live our lives, they don't bother us, they're not aggressive — even the paparazzi. Most of the time in California, in Malibu, they're outside our house every single day, but on certain days I can go up to them and go, 'Guys, not today,' and they actually turn around, and they respect that.”

Life & Style Weekly, 8/28/13 EXCLUSIVE: Matthew McConaughey’s Wife Camila Alves: I Wish He Were More Romantic Like His Movie Characters!Matthew McConaughey knows a thing or two about playing a romantic on camera — but is he the same guy offscreen? Not quite, according to wife Camila Alves! Life & Style hung out with the Brazilian beauty at the launch of INC Home at Macy’s SF Union Square in NYC and she dished on her relationship with the star. “We’re not that couple that goes, ‘ya know, gotta have a date night every two weeks.’ We’re really not like that. It just kinda happens when it happens,” shared the model. “I always laugh because Matthew sometimes does romantic movies, and I say ‘who is this guy? Can we bring him home for a couple of days?’” Camila, 30, and Matthew, 43, who wed in June 2012, have three children: sons Levi, 5, and Livingston, 8 months, and daughter Vida, 3. So how do they sneak in alone time with such a big family? They don’t! “We always have them with us all the time. Where we go, they are there, so any little break we have, they are always have one-on-one time with us. They are always with us and taking those extra little minutes,” she told Life & Style. “It’s about carving those little times and that they know you are taking the time to talk to them and help them understand things.” As for adding on to their brood, Camila said, “I just had one about seven months ago, so I’m okay for now.”

Calgary Sun 7/31/2013 Interstellar star Matthew McConaughey spotted in Eau Claire in downtown Calgary Downtown diners got a side of movie star with their meals Wednesday. And for a few Calgary moms, a day at the wading pool got a whole lot cooler, too. Matthew McConaughey, in town to begin shooting the new Christopher Nolan film InterStellar, was spotted in Eau Claire Wednesday, hanging with, spectators believed, his wife and kids at the wading pool and dining on the Joey Eau Claire patio in front of star-struck fans. Connie Jacab was at the wading pool with her son about 3 p.m. when she looked over and saw the Texan born Hollywood actor. “At first I thought, ‘that can’t be’ ... and then we heard him talk and said, ‘Oh yeah,’” she said. “So we were all trying to inconspicuously take a picture.” Dressed in khaki pants, runners, and a plaid casual shirt, he was sitting on the edge of the pool, she said. While too shy to approach him, also wanting to respect his time with his family, she said another mom went up to him and took a picture. “I’m still kind of star struck,” she said. “I’ve never seen anyone famous. “It was kind of fun.” Staff at Joey Eau Claire declined to comment, referring questions to the company’s head office, which was closed. Directed and co-written by Nolan, the sci-fi film that will be shooting in southern Alberta also stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine. It’s been a star studded few days in Calgary, where star of TV drama 24 Kiefer Sutherland was seen visiting and drinking with fans — even taking off his shirt at one point — at the Bear & Kilt Freehouse at 110 8 Ave. S.W. Saturday night. He was at the pub with co-star Demi Moore, screenwriter Brad Mirman, and another person. He was in the city to shoot part of the upcoming film Redemption.
