  1. And I don't get the issue with Juice being part black? They have mexicans out the wazoo but one black guy with make the club fall apart? :cain:

One thing about Outlaw Biker Gangs: They are usually racially homogenous and exclusive. All Hell's Angels' members are white, and if you ever seen an episode on Gangland on biker gangs, many members of the racially exclusive white gangs wear swastikas on their jackets. As for the Hispanic Biker gangs, I also believe they don't have any black members. Matter of fact, the only "real" black biker gang I ever heard of are the East Bay Dragons out of Oakland.

Granted, this is just a show, but give the writers credit for keeping it real. The Sons finding out Juice is half-black would be a big deal. If it wasn't, the fact that he is wouldn't have been part of the storyline.

  2. What a difference a season makes. Here a recap on the 2nd episode this season:

Nucky sees how his world is crumbling around him. After his arrest, his office is raided. Luckily, Margaret, who is now queen bee of the house who has cooks and nannies who she gets to order around, saves Nucky's ass for the time being by faking a pregnancy so she can ask to use the facilities, and removes the record books and money from the office. She also encourages Nucky that despite everybody is turning their backs on him, he will prevail because he is stronger and smarter than his enemies. Also, there is a dinner at Nucky's house, Irish revolutionaries who at war with England and need weapons to continue the fight, and hoping with his wealth and well-standing, that he can supply them.

Jimmy, who is now in cahoots with his father the Commodore, Nucky's brother Eli, and others plotting to bring Nucky down, goes to New York to make a business dealing with Arnold Rothstein involving liquor. However, even though Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky are still under Rothstein, look to strike out on their own by dealing heroin, and they want Jimmy to join them in that enterprise. However, some guys who work for Joe "The Boss" Masseria show up. When Jimmy leaves, they come and threaten him. Even though they disarm him of his gun, he is still handy with his knife, and stabs kill them both.

Chalky White is in jail, which Nucky had Eli arrest in order to protect him. Nucky was jailed with him briefly, but was able to post bail. Chalky's wife visits him while he in jail and gives him a book to read, on the suggestion of his son. While he is in jail he meets some loudmouth who insults Chalky because of the light complexion of his wife and the fact that his nickname is Chalky, despite the fact that he is black. Later, Chalky is moved from a private cell to a cell with that guy and 3 other black guys. That guy continue to insult him and then even rips his book away from him. Then Chalky asks those other inmates about how they are doing and how their families are. This guy now realizes who Chalky is, and when he goes to hit him, the other guys grab him and beat him nearly to death. They get his book back and one of the inmates start to the read the book to him.

We see the Commodore, Eli, and the guys he is in cahoots with talking about how they will bring Nucky down, and how Jimmy will be supplying A.C. with all the liquor that comes in. However, one character, whose name I don't remember at the time, is not down with it, and instead of joining the others, will remain loyal to Nucky.

  3. Congrats to Peter Dinklage for winning the Emmy for "Best supporting Actor in a Drama Series". He is definitely one of the most interesting characters in the show, and the only member of the Lannister family that I like.

  4. R.I.P. Amy Winehouse. Can't say I'm surprised, though. She has been on a downward spiral for some time now, so it just seems like a matter of time. Still, since she was talented singer whose music I bought and enjoyed, always hoped she'd right the ship, and then continue to give us years of more music. Ironically, she died at age 27, and many legendary artists, such as Jimi Hendrix, Curt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison of the Doors, among others have died at that same age.

  5. Generally, not always, mixed females are better looking. You ever see a mixed family and the girl got the best of both "races" and the boy is kinda strange looking? Idk it's just something I've noticed over the years. Also today in entertainment and celebs, you see much more attractive mixed females than males.

Wow, that's a bold statement, especially when it comes to the guys. Not to sound biased, but you are from Philly. Pretty segregated city racially, right? Probably not many interracial couples. Then again, you only said the guys are strange looking. When it comes to famous mixed males, the ones I can think of off the top of my head is Barack Obama, Derek Jeter, Tiger Woods, Vin Diesel, Wentworth Miller, and Lenny Kravitz. Do you think any of those guys are weird looking?

  6. "BoardWalk Empire" got 18 nominations on Thursday. In the main categories, it got nominated for Best Drama series, with both Steve Buscemi and Kelly MacDonald getting nominated for best actor and actress in a drama series, respectively. Buscemi already has won a Golden Globe for this role, so his chances at the Emmy Award is pretty good. Kelly MacDonald, not so much. However, I'll be rooting for her, because of all the corruption and murder involved in that series, she's the moral core. Unfortunately, the actor that's plays Detective Van Alden did not got nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Award. His character, even though trying to uphold the law and bust Nucky, has duality as he is obviously has many demons that he has to wrestle with constantly, which adds much more to the human element of the story.

  7. You don't think Sean Bean is well known in US? What about Ronin, Lord Of The Rings or The Island? They should have had quite an audience.

True, but he was never the star, or even main co-star in those films. The face might be somewhat familiar, but the name isn't.

  8. "Game of Thrones" was nominated for 2 Emmys on Thursday. The show was nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series Category. Unfortunately, despite the great cast of actors who did their jobs really well, only Peter Dinkage was noticed, as he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. I definitely think that Sean Bean, Lena Headey, and Emilia Clarke were good enough to earn some nominations. No knock on Dinkage, but I feel the only reason why the Emmys nominated him and not the others is because he is the only actor on that cast who is known to the American Audience. The rest of the people on that show, with the exception of that one guy who is on the Wire, are not well known outside of their home countries.

  9. Emmy nominations just came out. "Dexter" got 3 nominations, at least as far as I know if the major categories. It is up for Outstanding Drama Series and Michael C. Hall. or course is up again for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The Emmy voters were obviously impressed with Julia Stiles' performance this past season, as they nominated her for BEST Guest Actress in a Drama series. :D  I'll be rooting for her. :fun: However, Johnny Lee Miller got snubbed in the Best Guest Actor Category. :/ Also, it's kinda ironic that seven women were nominated in Guest Actress Category. Every other category has a total of six. :ermm: So, Julia Stiles gets in, while Johnny Lee Miller misses out. No knock in Julia Stiles. She definitely deserves to be nominated in her category. I just think Johnny Lee Miller's performances should have been acknowledged as well.

In closing, congrats to Dexter and Showtime for their nominations. We will be rooting for you, and Dexter is coming back IN SEPTEMBER!!!:ddr:  :hell yea!:

  10. I didn't like first episode of the new season. The start is a bit disappointing but I'm waiting to see what next

You don't have to wait. The 2nd episode is on HBO on Demand. It clears up a lot of questions. You get to see how Bill became King of Louisiana, who the REAL head of the the Vampires are, and whats been going with Tara and Sam.

  11. Holy SHIT!!! Bill is King of Louisiana, Tera is a lesbian now, and Eric now owns Sookie's house. I know Sookie doesn't wanna be with Eric, but it looks like she doesn't have much of a choice now, I have a feeling Tara is gonna come back, and don't forget we have witches now. If we learned anything from the Vampire Diaries, Witches got the upper hand on all the other supernaturals. This season is gonna be AWESOME!!!

  12. I've loved this show from it's inception, I still Love it as much, I own 4 series and got a preview copy of 5 which I have watched, it hasn't been shown on Showtime in the UK yet.

A friend of mine who had seen series 5 told me that Dexter gets caught and arrested, escapes and dies at the end. So I was watching the series expecting the worst, watching through my fingers and fully expecting to cry at the end! But they lied to me... he don't get caught or Die, I was so relieved. I almost cried anyway.

That sucks that your friend told you that, even though it wasn't true. Problem is that it might actually happen. Sounds like he or she read the books. That's why I don't read the True Blood books. I rather be surprised and see what's gonna happen instead of knowing what's going to happen beforehand. They might change it up a little bit when it finally makes it on the small screen, but I believe the writers and producers try to keep it close to the book as possible.

    NFL

I'd like to See Chicago vs. New York in the Super Bowl. That would give the Bears a better chance of winning instead of facing the Steelers. When you have 2 defensive teams, the team with the stronger defense usually wins, and the Steelers had like the No.#1 or No.#2 defense overall this year.

    NFL

Aaron Rodgers for Superbowl MVP that's all I'm sayin'

You might be right about that. However, you probably thought the same about Michael Vick, and look how that turned out. :cain: You don't think the Bears have a shot? Or this is just K-Dub vs. Matt? Thought you would rooting for whoever takes on the Packers since they took out your boys. :/

I'm not like that at all. When the Giants beat the Phils this year I wanted them to win the World Series, they deserved it plus they have likable players.

I hate Jay Cutler, yea I said it. His attitude sucks. He's on the Bears so I hope they win nothing. I don't know why you like them anyway, unless you used to live in Chicago.

Ok, I'll clear it up for you. I never have lived in Chicago or have family from there. I used to follow my half-brother, who was a cowboy fan, because he told me they never lose a game. However, later I found out that they do lose, and everybody loses a game here and there. So, I decided to find a team of my own. When the Bears played the Pats in '85, I went for the Bears. They won, and as they say, the rest is history.

Now, here is some advice: It's not about the player, its about the uniform. I never liked Ron Artest, until he became a Laker. I could never root for the Giants. My Dodger allegiance makes it impossible for me to do that. Tell me truthfully, would you have liked AI if he was NEVER A 76ER?

    NFL

    NFL

The only team who could beat the Patriots in the superbowl (most likely to get there sorry Matt) is the Packers. So hopefully that's the matchup.

    NFL

^ Actually, when I said the Bears would be the easiest team to beat in the NFC, I was taking for granted (w/o even realizing it) that there's next to no chance the Seahawks make it to the Super Bowl anyway. :p So calm down!

    NFL

^ YOU BET AGAINST THE RAVENS???? :o

And I would love to see a Ravens-Bears Super Bowl - the Bears look like the easiest NFC team to beat. :D

  13. I don't know man. Maybe you are a multilingual person, and maybe if meet enough people and converse with them, we can tell the difference. However, if I talked to you, I would know probably know what country you are from, but not which part. The majority of people are not gonna notice a difference the 1st time around. As far as Spanish goes, I said what I had to say about that. I don't speak the language, so I really don't pay much attention to the accent. After all, we ain't be able to understand each other anyway, right?

    It's all good, mayn.

yes, I mean Im not versed in american accents so I couldnt quite identify certain midwest accents, but I'd know which ones sound different. You wouldnt know Im a Mancunian but Im sure if I had next to me a scouser and you could hear us both speaking you'd know we were from different regions and had completely different accents, you wouldnt know one was from manchester and the other from liverpool, but our different way of speaking would give away how we arent from the same part of the world.

One accent and culture that fascinates me from the US is the cajun and bayou country, they speak a very peculiar form of hybrid french that I suppose must sound a little like quebecois (Im guessing here, absolutely no certainty about it). You make a good point about immigrants having a hand in how most regional accents sounds in the US, thats quite interesting actually.

And I appreciate your graciousness, cheers mate (as we say in the UK/aussieland)

Interesting point you bring up on how the Cajuns speak. I know many of them speak Cajun French, and they are desendants of the French Canadians who chose to relocate to Louisiana. As far as having immigrants having a hand in how regional accents have in the U.S., we also have sports teams that refect the majority of immigrants in that region, such as the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Vikings.

  14. I don't know man. Maybe you are a multilingual person, and maybe if meet enough people and converse with them, we can tell the difference. 15. Mentioning smurfs, dragons eating American tourists, and King Arthur. :cain: Really, who's the idiot with the THICK HEAD HERE?! However, thanks for making my point for me. Since you are British, it is easy for you to differentiate between the accents in England. Us outsiders are not gonna notice those differences, so they are all gonna sound fairly similar. Like I said, come to the West Coast and differentiate between the accents from people in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

As for the Spanish accents, which I usually hear on a daily basis(I actually grew up in a big, multicultural city called Los Angeles, maybe you heard of it ;) ), same thing. the majority of Spanish speaking people hear are from El Salvador or Mexico. However, I had a friend who was from Colombia, and when he spoke Spanish, besides his voice, I didn't hear much of a difference. I don't care which way you look at it. If it's your mother tounge, you can tell the difference. If its not, not so much. We may share a common language, but there is obviously a difference between American English and I guess, Original English. The slang can also point out what country or region you are from as well. Good luck with your arrogance, you definately got the accent to go along with it. I don't know with English accent it is, but I know it's English, and they all sound snooty. <_<

  16. I dont understand how people can say they dislike british accent, when there are like 50 different just in england! scouse talk completely different than londoners, who they even have different accents within the city! yet you united all the different variations under the british accent label... quite amazing. Same goes for spanish.. in latinamerica every country has a different accent, mexicans talk almost a different language than argentinians! and latin spanish has absolutely nothing to do with spaniards accent, who in turn change from the south, andalusian, compared to catalan in the north. In the states is the same thing, it changes so much from region to region, so IMO when we talk about accents we should talk about regions and not about countries.

in that sense I find the NY-NJ italian accents absolutely appaling, but I find very, very sexy a texan accent in a woman. I also find posh english spoken by a woman tremendously sexy, even more a northern irish accent in a lass is like audio-viagra.

I said this once before, but some people just don't get it, so I'll say it again: We don't HEAR A DIFFERENCE!!! As an American from California, I wouldn't notice the difference a Londoner spoke from a person from Manchester, or maybe even a person from Australia. Most Americans wouldn't. :/ Plus, England is a much smaller country than say the U.S., so the accents are more similar to each other than U.S. accents, which were mostly formed by immigrants who settled in a certain area. Same goes for Spanish. We hear the language, and if we are in L.A., were gonna assume that they are Mexican. In New York, were gonna assume they are Puerto Rican or Dominica I challenge anybody who disagrees with me to come to the West Coast, and go to Seattle, San Francisco, and then come to the neck of the woods, L.A.. Go ahead to San Diego while you're at it. Tell us if you hear a distinct difference. And make sure you talk to a person who was born and raised in that area.
