Antonio Adan
"I am confident we will win" Real Madrid sponsor bwin caught up with Antonio Adan on the eve of Week 11's match against Sporting Gijon. "We will lose at some point, but the later it happens the better. And whenever it does happen may it be because the other team deserved it, not because we made too many mistakes. We need to continue doing things the way we have been doing them, but if a team does beat us we need to take it with cool heads and prepare harder for the next match." "Sporting is a hard team to beat at home. The fans pour on the heat and they will push 120% against Madrid. They have fast players that can catch us on the counterattack. We must stay strong on defense. I am confident we will win if we continue playing as we have been." "We want our opponents to feel like they are playing against a champion-caliber team. We want them to know we are going to attack and shoot on goal a lot. We are building a champion-caliber team, but we have to wait until season's end to see if it happens." "I work hard so that I can earn my chance. I am sure it will happen at some point so I must be prepared. The coach has shown that he has faith in everyone and he makes it known." "Against Villarreal at the Camp Nou, Barcelona will want to show just how good of a season they are having. They want to be on top and it will be a nice match to watch. It won't be easy for Barcelona."

Barcelona vs Villarreal Preview Barcelona's Sergio Busquets is ready to fill in at the back in the absence of Gerard Pique and Gabi Milito against Villarreal. Pique is suspended following his red card against Getafe last weekend, while Milito misses out as well after picking up an injury in the 5-1 win over Segunda Division B side Ceuta in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night. That leaves captain Carles Puyol as the club's only recognised central defender available for the game against in-form Villarreal. Barca coach Pep Guardiola had a wealth of options in that position last year, but defenders Rafa Marquez and Dmytro Chygrynskiy moved on in the summer, along with midfielder Yaya Toure, who often filled in at the back when others were unavailable. Guardiola may decide to switch full-back Eric Abidal to a central position tomorrow to start alongside Puyol but Busquets is prepared to drop back into the defence for the good of the team. "My position is defensive midfield, but if I had to play as a central defender, I would," he said. "I would have things to improve on, because it's not my natural position, but I could play as a centre-back." If Busquets is used at the back, Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano will start in the holding role. Barcelona face a key clash at home to fierce rivals Real Madrid at the end of this month, but Busquets says the Catalans are focused solely on Villarreal for now. "There are some very important matches before we play Madrid," he said. "For us, the most important game is this Saturday against Villarreal - they are a great team and we hope to win the three points to open up a gap ahead of them in the table." After 10 rounds of Primera Division matches, Barca lie in second with 25 points, one behind leaders Madrid and two ahead of third-placed Villarreal. Villarreal have won seven out of their first 10 league matches and lost just once so far in the league this season. That defeat came on the opening weekend, meaning the Yellow Submarine are unbeaten in nine rounds of Primera Division matches. And striker Nilmar hopes his side can prove they are able to compete at the very top by securing a positive result at the Nou Camp. "We are going to try and make sure Madrid and Barca don't escape," he said. "These matches against one of the best teams in the world are the ones that every player wants to be involved in. "We are going there to win the three points because we want to stay up at the top of the table. "And if we do things well, people will recognise our work." Villarreal advanced to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over Poli Ejido. Veteran midfielder Marcos Senna missed that match through injury and is doubtful for the Nou Camp clash.

Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna Preview Atletico Madrid will be hoping to get their Primera Division campaign back on track following a disappointing recent run. Atletico started the season in fine style, beating Inter Milan to win the UEFA Super Cup and then picking up victories over Sporting Gijon and Athletic Bilbao in their opening two league games, but things have not gone so well for the Rojiblancos since then. In eight Primera Division matches, the Europa League champions have picked up only two wins and suffered four defeats - their latest being a 2-0 loss to derby rivals Real last weekend that left Quique Sanchez Flores` men down in eighth spot. However, that run included matches against all the leading sides in the division, and now Atletico will hope to start moving up the table as their next eight games features matches against six teams in the bottom half. "We want to finish the first half of the season with 30 points," said Sanchez Flores, whose side need 16 points from their next nine games to achieve that target. "That could allow us to finish the season with more than 60 points. With this figure we can get into the Champions League. The sooner we start picking up those points, the better." Looking back to the first 10 weeks of the season, Sanchez Flores added: "We`ve been unfortunate. The team have had more positive answers than negative. We`ve corrected some of the mistakes from last year, but the bad luck, as much with regards to injuries as results, have prevented the team from having more points right now. "We`ll see if now we can recover the form we had at the start, which is what we hope for the rest of the season. "Right now are are lamenting the loss of three or four points, but we can`t think about that. We must work hard and we are going to fight to achieve our objectives." Tomorrow`s visitors to the Vicente Calderon are 12th-placed Osasuna, who have had a mixed time of it lately. In their last three league games, Jose Antonio Camacho`s side have picked up 3-0 home victories over Malaga and Hercules but also suffered a 4-1 mauling at Racing Santander. Osasuna also bid farewell to the Copa del Rey in midweek when they lost 2-1 at Deportivo La Coruna. Sanchez Flores said of Osasuna: "They are a physical team with a very direct style. We will have to be aggressive."

Xabi Alonso
FHM Bionic interview unamadridista Q: What are you values as a professional athlete? A: I like to be honest and respectful of others, and I think how you behave on the field is very important. Q: So, you don’t believe that the end justifies the means? A: No. The end is to win, and the means are to be honest. Q: Your career has been brilliant… A: Yes, I’m satisfied, but I’m still ambitious. Q: Your best game? A: I have two: the final of the World Cup this year, and the final of the Champions League in 2005 with Liverpool. Q: And the worst? A: There have been a lot of deceptions, but I remember especially the 2006 World Cup, when France eliminated us. Q: Which athlete do you admire? A: Michael Jordan. Q: Can we talk about coaches? A: Yes, without any problems. Q: The best? A: Vicente del Bosque, because he’s a great coach and a great person. Q: Very different from Luis Aragonés? A: Aragonés was more impulsive. Q: And José Mourinho? A: He has a very elaborate way of working, and he knows what he has to do in each moment. Q: And how was Benítez? A: He focused more on technical aspects than psychological or personal. Q: And how do you prepare for a game? A: I try to anticipate and visualize what could happen. And later, I always get a bit nervous before, but I think that’s necessary. Q: What is your strong point on this team? A: I think it’s my ability to analyze and organize… I like to be organized both on and off the field. Q: It’s been said that you’re quite an elegant man… A: I don’t know, maybe it’s from my way of being… I’m very interested in new things: fashion, accessories, watches, gadgets… Q: Can you live without technology? A: Let’s just say that you shouldn’t deprive me of it: I have a Blackberry, and then from Apple I have everything; the latest is the iPad. Q: Your favorite web sites? A: www.nationalgeographic.com and www.ebay.es. Q: Music? A: When I was younger, Nirvana. Now, Calamaro, Coldplay, Quique González… Q: Movies? A: I didn’t like The American with George Clooney, but I did like the latest from Woody Allen. Q: Books? A: I always read newspapers, and now I’m reading Octopus by Daniel Estulin and El Palestino by Antonio Salas. Q: Vacation spots? A: European capitals, with London on top of the list. Q: Where do you like to get lost? A: In the barrio viejo (old town) of San Sebastián. Q: And when you’re done with football? A: I don’t know, sometimes I fantasize about dedicating myself to something completely different… But it’s a fantasy. How Xabi takes care of himself Eating – like a good Basque, Xabi likes to eat. “Luckily, I can eat everything since I don’t have any weight problems, and I don’t even have a set diet.” There’s always fresh fish in his refrigerator, and his favorite restaurant, Elkano in Getaria, “never lets me down.” Personal care - “in addition to basic hygiene, I use gel, shampoo, deodorant, cream for the hair, a moisturizer and cologne daily.” Exercise – Xabi does the four exercises shown above. [Note: this would be a good thing to leave lying around the house, to make your man as much like Xabi Alonso as possible.]

Jose Mourinho
By unamadridista TSO got himself expelled at the end of the first half after receiving two warnings: the first for complaining about a decision, and the second for telling the referee, José Luis Paradas Romero, “vete a la mierda.” Paradas Romero wrote in the match report that he gave Mou two warnings: “in minute 37, the coach José Mário Dos Santos Félix Mourinho was cautioned for the following reason: he raised his arms, protesting a decision I had made.” Then came “in minute 37, the coach José Mário Dos Santos Félix Mourinho was expelled for the following reason: after he was warned, he came towards me and told me, “fuck off.” Go Mou!!! After Mou was expelled, he headed to the stands (but not before making some faces to show his displeasure) and sat down on some stairs. Upon seeing the situation, Miguel Gil Moreno, socio number 7,171, which he’s been since 1970, told Mou, “Señor Mourinho, don’t sit on the ground! This seat is mine, take it!” He told Marca, “I usually go up in the stands to sit with some friends who have their seats higher up, but when I saw the coach sit down on the ground, I went down to ask him to sit in my seat. The security guards told me to go back, but I told them no, that they had to ask Mourinho to sit in my seat. And in the end, he sat down.” And next to Mou was Pablo Bernal, a 21-year-old student. He said, “he didn’t say anything to me, he was concentrating very hard on the game. He looked quite calm, and didn’t seem to be too angry that he had been expelled. I didn’t say anything to him, but I took some photos and recorded some videos… My friends started sending me texts. One of them asked me to slap Mou on the back of the neck.” Of course, Pablo wasn’t the only one taking pictures of Mou. Lots of fans did. I love that!!! And they all saw how Mou continued coaching from his seat, including continuing to show his displeasure, giving out instructions and telling Cristiano to intensify his warm-up. In the second half, Julio Cendel, the head of security for the team, had to sit down next to Mou to protect him. It looks like Mou will miss the next game against Sporting de Gijón as a punishment for his expulsion. Aitor Karanka will take charge of the game. I wonder if Mou will be giving him instructions from the stands, like he did last night? After the game, Mou at first refused to talk about his expulsion. Then he relented (I guess he really must have been upset) and said: “It was a very easy game to referee. I’m not a good referee. I don’t do well when I have to referee in the training sessions, but this game was easy.”

Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo: I am a creative maestro Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo believes that his recent provocative pass during the match against Atletico Madrid was "creative". During the dying minutes of the fixture, the Portuguese player took a strike towards the opponent's goal, and when the ball was rebounded to him, he passed it to Xabi Alonso with his back instead of controlling the ball with his feet instead. Atletico players were furious at the perceived lack of respect, with ex-Arsenal winger Jose Antonio Reyes calling it an act of "provocation" and Alvaro Dominguez calling it "silliness". However, Ronaldo has hit back at the criticism on his Twitter page, according to Marca, saying :"Sometimes you have to be creative." Real Madrid defeated Atletico 2-0 to remain atop of La Liga.
