Those are some great examples and I agree that even though I truly believe mostly in star power, Kate is still young both in age and the modeling world and still has to prove that she has the staying power. Hopefully she does get that chance to branch out into HF to prove that she can be versatile as well, but if she doesn't get that chance and still has the star power years later, it wouldn't disqualify her from the title in my book. She has done runway in both America and Mexico so far. Let's hope that leads to bigger and better things all over the world. (we really need a finger crossing emoticon )

In that case I think they should eliminate the term "Supermodel" all together then because beauty is in the eye of the beholder and even though models like Gisele and Karolina are beautiful, personally I can only see them in the stereotypical high fashion mold because I just can't buy them in the same type of work that Kate is getting. I just don't personally find them sexy just like a lot of people don't see Kate as high fashion material even though I personally think Kate can pull off the high fashion look depending on what they have her wear, same as with any model really because there have been some models I have seen who are normally gorgeous in normal clothes or certain gowns, but then you stick them in the wrong gown/outfit and they look like a train wreck. I think the term "Supermodel" should be more about your star power more than anything no matter what type of modeling you are known for. If you are a household name where everyone and their mothers know who you are, then you should be able to be called a supermodel. That is just how I feel though.

High Fashion is not the beginning and ending of modeling though. Heidi did just fine without it I rarely remember any of those high fashion models anyway. I haven't come across too many that have that something that make them stand out in the sea of other exotic looking fashion models. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that they are all starting to look the same to me. In fact, one of the recent model competitions I saw in this forum I couldn't even vote on because I couldn't even tell the difference between the two models who were going up against each other. Kate, to me, may not have that exotic foreigner look, but she has a certain something that makes her special. It might be her sexy curves or her bubbly personality or the whole package, I don't know, but I don't want her to change herself just to be accepted into the snooty high fashion world. If she gets pigeonholed into just being able to model swimsuits, lingerie, whatever, I'll still be happy. As long as she is still getting work. :neo2:

Her saying that doesn't surprise me considering she is still really young. Most people I know at that age are not in the mind frame of looking for a serious relationship. People just want to enjoy life and have fun when they are young. There are plenty of models and celebrities who still get jobs even though they live the fast partying type of lifestyle.

I don't really understand it either. I think her videos are fun and sexy. I'm happy that she is in the public eye so much right now and striking while the iron is hot. I don't care if it is through YouTube videos like that or whatever else, I just hope she never ends up being one of those models where the only times we really see them are from a never ending stream of vacation photos leaving us to wonder when she is going to do another job.
