After all, underwear should be whatever you want it to be. Sometimes it can be playful or kinky; sometimes it’s simply sexy. OCEAN DRIVE: How were you discovered? CANDICE SWANEPOEL: I was approached by an agent while shopping at a flea market in Durban, South Africa, which is where I’m from. I was 15 at the time—superthin and so insecure. When I arrived in New York, my body started to change and get a bit curvier. I’ve been in New York for two and a half years now, and things are going great. What’s the best thing about being a Victoria’s Secret model? Last year I got to walk in the Miami show at the Fontainebleau. I think the runway is probably the most exciting thing we do as models. The energy is amazing, and we get so much attention! Speaking of Miami, do you have any favorite hot spots? I just got back from Miami a few days ago. I love it: the humidity, the warm weather. The only thing that bothers me is the air conditioning—it’s everywhere! I love the way of life, and being so close to the beach. I like to shop at Atrium a lot; they have some really good beach clothes. I would love to be in Miami for the opening of the new Victoria’s Secret store this November. Any excuse to get close to the beach! What are your Victoria’s Secret staples? I have to say, after a whole day of shooting in a thong, it’s nice to come home and slip into a pair of their cotton underwear. It’s the best thing ever! Which models have influenced you the most? Kate Moss is a huge influence. There will never be another model like her. The same goes for Gisele. I love the look of the sexier, curvier model. I want us to go back to that: back to when women had bodies and boobs. In New York, it’s crazy how skinny the girls are. OD

I agree with Socio. There are too many angels now and a lot of them are way overrated. Some of them are too skinny and not lingerie sexy and some have been around long enough. VS needs a makeover.

I'm so happy she's an Angel now, she's gorgeous and appealing. Maybe now that she's an angel we'll get to see more interviews with her. I just love her sexy voice. I can't quite describe it, it's a little low, steady and calm.

Her walk could use a little work, a little more bounce in the hips for the VSFS but she would be absolutely perfect for VS PINK. I don't think she's going to get the cover of SI either, it was just wishful thinking on my part. She needs to be a little more established before she could get a cover although I'm still pissed that Laetitia Casta never got the cover. That's a travesty!

Me neither there is like no videos of her in a runway but there is this 2 sec view of her walk on a Fox Comercial, and it looks pretty sexy to me!!! soo I wouldn't doubt she got in a VSFS soon if she wanted to! Do all VS print models do the fashion show? She could just be a print/commercial model for them she has the perfect body for it. Personally I think she looks better than most of the VS girls, definitely a much better physique. I think doing SI will open more doors for her, I hope so.

Bar needs her own subforum. She's working a lot more than say Petra Nemcova these days and it would be great to look at just her editorial or bikini pics without having to go thru over 400 pages! Also I hope she becomes a regular with VS. She's perfect for lingerie and would make a great angel.
