I think 300 dpi is more than sufficient for magazines. Have not found real limits with the AI platforms, though huge file sizes will likely take longer to process. I would just download the ChatGPT app to get started since it has the advantage of not putting in watermarks.

Yes I used scans I made at high resolution and then instruct AI models such as ChatGPT or Gemini to: 1) Remove print, aging damage and compression artifacts. 2) Upscale conservatively. 3) Ensure Paulina’s face, expression, pose, hair, body proportions, and composition must remain identical. This has to be double checked with the original reference image. 4) Do not invent detail, modernize the image, over-sharpen it, or turn it into an AI recreation. 5) Restore it match the fidelity of the original film stock which looks different than digital camera photos. Note that currently this only works well one photo at a time. Hope this helps.
