I mean it would have been epic if she won supporting (The Reader) and best actress (RR) in the same night :p

True, but the best actress for The Reader is also great

She won best actress for "The Reader" and everyone was whining that first of all it wasn't her best role nor performance or movie and second it should've been for supporting, 3rd how she was snubbed for RR when she won the globe for that role etc etc People are never satisfied 🤣 And then of course Weinstein was involved in The Reader. Back then not a controvery but these days you have to pay for this fact of course.

Yes, Kate. Many Times Over. But Not for ‘The Reader’

Maybe we should celebrate her iconic status with a proper movie list but that would took some time because holy moly I watched a lot of her :p

I've seen a lot with her too, however here's my top:

    1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

    513c69453667bcf2da25c52c5977379f3de657d5457f6a181d107b3e7dd70d68ecbce07c55da0f15

One of my favorite and one of the most beautifully devastating movies.

    2. The Dressmaker (2015)

    14fc5eb02eab60b98ad7fe42d95c69298ed04a73anigif_enhanced-26268-1446521935-2.giftumblr_o6k1b1aozl1taq12wo2_500.gif?w=656

This movie has always made me experience a whirlpool of different emotions and to some extent it's not easy to watch it, but it's definitely worth it.

    3. Mare of Easttown (2021)

    57f394af5b32dace2b1ac7e9698ec5871c6c7e9b004f800be71283ac977153307530b27d26cca4fbaadbe48cfa7202b092d0c34714c23cd22790e1bfac55f6c9b0a5e136c942475d4707e92f1d14f39f

Who doesn't love complex female characters?

    4. Titanic (1997)

    tumblr_py3dopp5Cx1xlv8m3o2_400.gifanigif_sub-buzz-23998-1511725336-9.gif

I don't think this one needs any explanation.

    5. Revolutionary Road (2008)

    8f5170fc390d03d1bda25427de289809a4129a0a8606a246eccbf7a1d5e281d7080037e00b762aa5

It contrasts sharply with the Titanic, showing a heartbreaking portrait of a typical american family of the 50s. A couple of years ago I would have put it above the Titanic, but now I appreciate the Titanic more.

    6. The Reader (2008)

    oo17vpw99r_zTj0xzlCEKgQ8agE-Z02QnXgLAq8N

    Heavy, but worthwhile.

    7. Little Children (2006)

    tumblr_mdwswxl2Bs1qh502no1_500.gif

I watched it for the sex scenes, but that's not the only advantage of this movie.

    8. Finding Neverland (2004)

    tumblr_ptoml8MaIR1ua45zn_500.gif

    Of course I cried.

    9. Labor Day (2013)

    labor-day-brolin-winslet.jpg

    10. The Mountain Between Us (2017)

    tumblr_p76hnb9tKF1rob81ao10_r2_400.gif

On my watchlist: The Regime (2024), Lee (2023), Ammonite (2020), Carnage (2011), Mildred Pierce (2011)

Seen but can't remember: Wonder Wheel (2017), Collateral Beauty (2016), The Holiday (2006), The Life of David Gale (2003)

I still like to have my movies as hardware. Streaming is still like buying air for me 😅

Streaming really doesn't make sense, because one day the service may remove your movie from the catalog or it will be blocked for your country. Not to mention the constant increase in prices for viewing in high quality and many other issues.

    Another incoming disaster @Lilja K

‘Borderlands' Budget is Actually $120M, Headed Towards $10M-15M Opening Weekend

We already know that Eli Roth’s “Borderlands” will be an unmitigated disaster for Lionsgate. It’s a film that’s been plagued with reshoots and rewrites.

Puck’s Matt Belloni is saying that the “Borderlands” budget is much higher than what was originally reported. The film cost $120M, and that includes extensive reshoots. Early projections have the film opening in the $10-$15M range. This one’s going to be losing a lot of money.

The film wrapped principal photography back in 2021. Roth was not part of the extensive reshoots as he had obligations to direct another film (“Thanksgiving”) during that time period. Tim Miller (“Deadpool”) replaced Roth and, by all accounts, it sounds like the script had some dramatic change during the additional photography phase.

Apparently, trying to get the cast back together was a “nightmare,” according to Belloni. This does make sense considering the actors who participated in this film included Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black. If you remember, Blanchett had to board a plane to Berlin to begin shooting Todd Field’s “TAR” in September 2021.

Reviews for “Borderlands” are currently under embargo until Thursday previews begin at 3PM ET. In all likelihood, they won’t be positive. Lionsgate probably just wants to get this catastrophic project out of the way and move on to better things.

“Borderlands,” based on the popular video game, follows Lilith (Cate Blanchett) as she reluctantly returns to Pandora in search of the daughter of a powerful man named Atlas (Edgar Ramirez), teaming up with a ragtag gang of misfits along the way.

It was already a misbegotten idea to turn the video game into a feature, and it sounds like not even Blanchett’s participation — which she blamed on her “COVID madness” — will make much of a difference.

I still can't believe that Cate is in this.

James Mangold's ‘A Complete Unknown’ Set For December 25 Release

So, it’s official — James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown” will be released on Christmas Day 2024, per Searchlight.

This is the buzzy Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothee Chalamet. It’s obviously going for Oscars and will be skipping all of the fall fests. I should also briefly mention that it’s set to test screen this week in Texas.

Mangold biopic started production in March and wrapped up its shoot in May. A quick turnaround. A trailer was released last month for the film. The cast is starry; Chalamet playing Dylan. Edward Norton (Pete Seeger), Elle Fanning (Suze Rotolo), Monica Barbaro (Joan Baez) and Nick Offerman (Alan Lomax) and Boyd Holbrook (Johnny Cash).

Mangold (“Ford V Ferrari,” “Logan”) has described “A Complete Unknown” as “Altman-esque, an ensemble piece” that will involve a mosaic of artists such as Guthrie, Baez, Cash and Seeger. Former film critic Jay Cocks wrote the script. He’s only written five films in 30 years, including “The Age of Innocence,” “Silence,” “Gangs of New York,” and “Strange Days.”

More Details on JJ Abrams' Mysterious “Fantasy" Film

Here’s TheInSneider with more details on JJ Abrams’ mysterious new film, starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, which apparently resides in the “Fantasy” genre and has franchise aspirations:

I’m told it’s “A fantasy film with some ‘Last Starfighter’ vibes,” according to a source who added that it doesn’t take place in space and that it’s decidedly a throwback of sorts. They noted that the script has drawn mixed reception from industry insiders who have read it — but hey, ya can’t please everyone.

The Last Starfighter? Really? That’s pure ‘80s nostalgia. In the 1984 film, directed by Nick Castle, High schooler Alex Rogan conquers the Starfighter video game, only to find out it was just a test, and is transported to another planet. He has been recruited to join a team of the best starfighters to defend their world from the attack.

Plot details for Abrams’ film are being kept under wraps, and a production start date hasn’t been revealed yet. However, a recent Production Weekly listing had Abrams’ film going by the name of “Acorns,” and the plot revolving around “a young married couple struggling to survive against a supernatural entity.” Abrams’ reps couldn’t confirm or deny the info.

To be honest, I don't trust this, but I hope for the best. At least I understand why Jenna wants to be a part of this.
