Anyway, lots of cuts at the VS lingerie division recently, wondering when we’ll get some Angel cuts. They’re long overdue.

@Prettyphile where is Jasmine’s thread? I can’t find it on the first few pages in the models forum or when I search for it. Also, why does @medicenevs get to troll me but if I were to stick up for myself, I’d get banned? Can we try to have a modicum of impartiality here? Thanks.

Being reserved and knowing when to turn things up a bit when you’re doing a job your hired to do are not mutually exclusive. Nicole Kidman is known for being shy or even an ice queen but I’ve seen her turn it up in interviews and be engaging. Hilary Duff herself said she was shy and she can actually be quite bubbly in interviews. You can be shy but still show up when the situation demands it. Again, it’s not a mutually exclusive thing. And as for Jasmine, she actually has toned down posting lots of VS content on Insta. But when she’s doing press or when she has a project to do (her vacation swim photos) she turns it up and shows up. That’s what I meant earlier when I said she shows enthusiasm and utmost professionalism for the brand, which is what I imagine the VS execs like to see. They say it’s family, so someone representing the family well is a great look, in my opinion, which I am allowed to have. And lastly, what’s wrong with playing up to the people that write your checks? When did that become a bad thing? Colored me confused on that. That makes no sense. If you watch Jasmine talking about her model journey (when she can get a word in) or Romee, you can see that while modeling isn’t the hardest job in the world, it’s still a job with lots of insecurity, long hours, loneliness, physically taxing (watching calories to not gain weight) and emotionally exhausting. Whether it’s a VS or a big beauty brand contract, that’s what all models work for. For job security and to not have to deal with the physical and emotional demands of modeling. What’s wrong with that? If I were in Jasmine’s shoes, I’d be doing what she does. It’s better than walking B, C list shows with no campaigns to show for it afterwards - because let’s be real, none of the current angels have high fashion and commercial careers like Gisele or even Karlie. That ship has sailed for everyone. Everyone. So seeing that that is the case, I don’t understand the shitting on other models (Jasmine) who has put in the work and now wants to slow down. And concentrate on putting her best foot forward and making the most of the VS opportunity she has. She’s the most successful Black Angel since Tyra. She’s made her mark on the company. That’s something to be proud of, no matter how much VS has gone down the crapper.

If I were the VS executive making Angel choices, I would work hard to ensure that some of the brand’s MO (beautiful women) gets a much needed update. The Angels need to come down to earth some. I’d strike a balance between better representation (plus sized, transgender models) while also making sure the models are classic beauties that still have an aspirational appeal to them. If I had my way, I’d keep Jasmine for the next few years as the bridge Angel, Lais and Leomie when their contracts are up would be replaced with a medium deep complexion Black model with natural hair that she likes to change up - one day a fro, the next box braids and so on. I think that would really appeal to a lot of black women. I would also hire a plus sized black model. As for the rest, I guess I would keep Grace, Barbara and Romee from the rest of the Angels, add in a white transgender model and one more white model. Maybe plus size, maybe another current Angel, idk. That’s 8, so I’d add at least 1 Asian and possibly Latina, which equals 10 models. Still a couple too many but greater representation of a larger portion of the American population than the current Angels. So while my lineup isn’t perfect it would be a starting point to bring VS to the 21st century.

This photo (and the others posted on this account) looks like it was taken at that mansion photoshoot a few weeks ago. That was quick. So I guess it wasn’t a holiday shoot and that’s still coming up.

So some people like me have to play nice but other people don’t. Understood. That being said, I’m not going to be silenced. To recap: -Candice’s two peers Behati and Lily have left the company. That does not bode well for her future with the company because as we just saw, Adriana left a year after Ale. Angels who came up together tend to leave together. And per another post, she is looking too skinny to get an FB (if there is one) in 2019 because that would be the most tone deaf decision. So for those 2 reasons (her time is with the brand is limited and her thin appearance) Candice’s FB chances are limited to zero. -Taylor has another 5 years or so to get to 10 shows with the brand. She has plenty of time for an FB. So why do her fans want her to have one now where she won’t have the whole experience? -Jasmine is the most successful Black Angel since Tyra Banks. She still has another 3 shows until she gets to 10, so chances are good that she will be with the brand for another 3-4 years. It makes more sense, if there is an FB this year, to give it to someone who will be around a while longer. Sounds sensible to me.

Nope. Candice is not the future of VS, we know her time is numbered. She’s had chances for another FB post 2013 (Lily, Lais and Elsa come to mind) and it hasn’t materialized. Not to mention she’s looking very, very skinny, like ‘I’ve been living off cigs to suppress my appetite to walk B-list shows’ skinny. Like 2011 skinny. And people were upset back in 2011. It would be one of the worst examples of tone deafness to give her an FB in 2019 based on that alone. Martha is a non-starter, she’s dead weight and as soon as VS starts making cuts from the 2015 class, I expect her to be among the first. Regarding Taylor, I thought she was one of VS’ golden children/the golden child. Why would they give her the FB on an ‘off’ year? Especially since she’s so ‘loved’ by the fandom and ‘public’? Jasmine is still as enthusiastic about the brand as ever, still amazing all around in both mainline and swim (and Sport but that looks to be over now). She’s shot the most consistently compared to Candice/Martha/Taylor this year and every year since she got her FB and is the utmost professional. Her swim pics on her Kenya vacation blew Taylor and Alexina’s pics out of the water. Sure, show off your ‘personality’ but make it look professional. And most importantly, it’s an ‘off’ year FB (if it even happens) so what’s the harm in giving it to someone who will only wear it to promote the bra style that VS wants to sell this holiday season and who will only get a photo shoot, morning show and store appearance? I always knew Jasmine would get an FB, once she got signed. It happened early, but I was willing to wait a few years. If you’re a fan of an angel who you think has even the slightest chance of the FB why would you want them to get it this year? As a fan watching that Angel’s journey I would be pissed. The FB has been less of a focus in the shows over the past few years but the wearer at least still gets a few perks wearing it. That would not happen at all this year. Why would you want that for your fave?

If there is an FB, I’m rooting for Jas. The last time there wasn’t a show, the FB wearer was also an Angel from California who had also worn the bra prior. I would be an ‘off season’ FB so it doesn’t make sense to give it to an Angel who hasn’t had one before and who would miss out on the whole FB experience. Even if that experience has diminished over the years, that’s still more than what a FB recipient would get this year - a photoshoot and a morning and store appearance.

I’m so happy Jas started her own YouTube where she can really talk about her passion for makeup and other things without being interrupted by Josephine. And the fact that she’s only been at it for about 2 months and already has nearly 50k followers is impressive. If she posts regularly she can probably get to 100k early next year.
