Dayum, is Leo looking hot or what???? Thanks LuckyGirl, Barbie, and ox so much for all the pics, videos, links, clips, it's amazing! I enjoyed the speeches, particularly Joaquin Phoenix's speech. It was very touching. I can't wait to see his Al Pacino impersonation one day Leo really does have beautiful skin, and my heart skipped a beat a little. That man melts me

Jade, I'm so glad you saw The Way We Were! The little romantic moments (sweeping his hair off his face), and the fact those two were polar opposites who really clashed, captivated me. I would love to see Leo in something like this Plus it was my first time seeing Robert Redford as a young man (used to seeing this old man) and I went 'whoa, hey handsome.' I can watch The Way We Were over and over again.

LOL I gotta say this about the Irishman. When I saw it in the theater, I didn't notice the de-aging thing. On Netflix though, it's way more obvious 😊, and I tried my damndest not to notice it. Besides that, I liked it. Maybe because I was always strangely fascinated with Jimmy Hoffa and how he went missing.

The answer to the second question is yes, that's exactly what it is, and it was pretty common to do back in the day. It was considered schtick and even in the vaudeville days, a couple of black comedians did blackface as well. Also, check out some Hitchcock when you get a chance, and many of it is very dated, but still really good. Those nearly 3 hours will pass quickly in watching The Godfather 😉 I think the reason why Gone with the Wind stands the test of time is because cinematically, it is a beautiful film, and it involves a passionate (for their time, lol) love story gone wrong against the backdrop of war. There are many moments that I do enjoy that film, but the stereotypes, lol, hell no. Can't do it. The problem is by the time I got to watch these older films, a lot of the more offensive material were cut out at that point; well, now with restoration being a thing, it's all back in, and some of the time, I find myself going 'what the f*** was that?' If you love a good love story, you'll like The Way We Were. Plus, it's pretty realistic, too. The Shining is an acquired taste. If you get a chance to see and like it, let me know because I still can't get into that one 😄

@Jade Bahr I love ET 😁😁. It was the first film I saw on VHS, and as a little kid, I wanted my own ET, LOL. I guess for me, it's more nostalgia than anything else. I love The Big Lebowski😀 Indiana Jones, hmm, I haven't seen the third part since I was ten but I loved it. You're right about some of the plots and dialogue. Watching some of it now can make a person go 'ugh, they really said or did that?' Here are some of the films that I do like: Mean Streets, The Big Sleep, Godfather, Taxi Driver, the Bicycle Thief, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, Raisin in the Sun, Jaws, ET 😁, Goodfellas, Reservoir Dogs, Raging Bull, etc, most of Chaplin films, Easy Rider (just watch the scenes with Jack Nicholson. Skip the rest of it, lol) and Wizard of Oz. I will say this. Some of those films you mentioned are very dated. My mother and older siblings loved them, especially Scarface. The first time I saw Scarface (that wasn't on network television, but video), I was 17 and thought it was awesome. Recently, though, I do unintentionally laugh at some of the dialogue. I still like it though. 2001: A Space Odyssey sucked, and it's touted as this supposed amazing film. The original Scarface with Paul Muni, ugh, well, it was a different time, so I guess it was daring and awesome for that day, but it was yet again, unintentionally funny to me. But I did get a chance to finally watch that version. Star Wars sucks (sorry to all the Star Wars fans). Gone with the Wind is a classic, but I'm very uncomfortable with it because of how Black people are portrayed, and the dialogue, I'll be on a soapbox, lol. A lot of those older films make me feel that way for that particular reason. Now, I've been hearing about Buster Keaton, so one Saturday, I watched College, his classic, not realizing there was a blackface scene (see, the channel that shows these older films restore everything that was removed years ago). Well, he did blackface (with the stereotypical shuffling and everything) and I shut it off . I couldn't finish it. The 1974 Gatsby sucked (mainly due to Mia Farrow as Daisy, sorry ) and The Property Condemned was horrible . A lot of those mid-60s films are terrible.

Thanks Barbie for the post and ox for the tweet! I agree with Barbie regarding Joker...the portrayal was really different in which Joaquin wasn't the typical comic book villain. My heart, however, will always belong to Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker (my childhood right there 😄). Heath Ledger did an excellent job as well.
