  1. Actually, the photographer's name was Oliviero Toscani...He famously photographed and was creative director of all those Benetton ads in the '80s/'90s, and lots of her work in American and French Elle ( and I wish there was more of it on this thread! Particularly the French Elle stuff. Hasn't anyone got those?I'd be most grateful!) Does anyone remember's Roberta's fantastic appearance in that 1987 Bryan Ferry Video 'The Right Stuff?' She was stunning in it! here's the vid on Youtube:
  2. Elle wasn't the only US magazine that she featured in. Ilonka actually shot numerous editorials for Mademoiselle magazine around 1988-1989. I think she was even on their cover once or twice.
  3. this is my favourite issue of British Vogue EVER!!!!!
  4. macha persona Gia wasn't a 'supermodel' ...in fact her death passed without hardly any notice from anyone back in 1986. It was only when 'a thing of beauty' was published years after she died that she became really famous. She was very well known only if you read the international fashion magazines like Vogue etc, (IE: not a gigantic percentage of the population) but she was never a household name like Christie Brinkley, Jerry Hall, and Brooke Shields were at the time, even when she graced the cover of Vogue. I remember back then because I was reading all the magazines at the time Gia was actually around and remember her well. She was a very successful fashion editorial model and worked with all the greats, but she was never a household name. Neither was Janice for that matter... They weren't that well known outside of the fashion community and its worshipers.
  5. THANKS for it. Would you mind to put the source or the name when you add scans, PLEASE? If we use the search to see if something had been already posted we will not find it without a little description in and no one has the time to browse through all the pages to make sure not posting a double. Would be great! I don't know about this particular photo, but Patrick Demarchelier shot all these ads at that time ( another one was of Kim Alexis...I think just before this one ran.) So my guess would be that Demarchelier shot this.
  6. Hi...do you have larger scans of these Macy's pics? I have Hi-res, super large shots (including outtakes) of a photo shoot (the actual studio shots, not from the magazine) she did for Vogue Patterns in 2008 that I can swap with, if you want.
  7. I met Julie Anderson at Australian fashion week in 2004. She now lives in Australia and is married with a kid. She was soooo nice and was thrilled that anyone remembered those days she was in all the magazines! ( I still have my old Mademoiselles and Harpers Bazaars with her in them) She told me about working with the likes of Scavullo (she said it was a real moment having her makeup done in the same chair that the likes of Elizabeth Taylor had!) and Walter Chin.( col, laid back, Jamaican accent.)
