    Valeska Suratt was born on June 28, 1882 in Owensville, Indiana. She was an American stage and silent film actress. She was one of four women in show business during the first 20 years of the 20th century who had complete control of her visual presentation and representation. She was known as a fashion empress and as "The Vampire Woman". Unfortunately none of her films are left for us to watch now. She passed away on July 2, 1962 in a nursing home in Washington, D.C.
