October 29, 20222 yr Author Sleek Magazine Interview Imagine a world, where neither time nor space exists, just your mind being fully engaged with the universe, far away from self-referential thinking, your body reaching unparalleled heights. Newcomer model Viola Beck has been continuously pushing herself to grow, transforming into other characters has slowly become the routine for her, after unintentionally slipping into the modeling world. Landing her first job with Jean Paul Gaultier, her career start has been followed by modelling for Dior and walking the Paris Fashion Week. Viola talks to SLEEK about her first steps into the fashion world and in which way she still finds a way to express herself. SLEEK: As a new face in the modelling world, how has your relationship to the industry changed from the beginning to now? Viola Beck: The modelling industry is like an invitation into a magnificent world, far away from my everyday life. In the beginning, everything was so fascinating and inspiring. I was really lucky that I always felt comfortable on set and the team had such good energy at my first jobs. Nowadays it feels a little more normal, still, there are challenges on set but that is also what motivates me to keep on going. S: Since you kind of stumbled into the modelling world, how did it feel to enter this business? VB: In the beginning it felt a little strange to be in front of the camera since I used to be very camera shy. But all of the shoots got me through my insecurities so that I have gained a lot of confidence to get me to a point where now, I enjoy to be photographed. S: In which way do brand shoots feel different from independent fashion editorials? VB: With brand shoots, the photographers and art directors always have a vision in mind, so I also get clear instructions. That’s a little different from fashion editorials where I can share my own ideas and thoughts. All of the pictures from a fashion editorial are filled with so much creativity. The whole team works with a free-spirited mind, so you just try out things on set, which all inspires me to unfold my personality and It is a great way to push myself further.
