No Longer Able to Swipe View Galleries in Chrome on Tablet

Hi, for as far as I can remember, I was able to view images in Galleries by swiping an image to advance. Recently swiping was replaced by arrows. Now, neither option is available. Any advice?

 

I'm using Chrome on a Nexus/Asus Android tablet.
