How did you get into modelling?

- I was 15 years old when I went and joined Elite Model Look Yugoslavia. I won and then after that I was signed.

Were you keeping up with school when you started modelling?

- No once I started I stopped but then I went back and finished. After that I jumped right back into modelling and then eventually I started school again when I had my first child, night school. I studied interior design!

What’s your favourite show that you’ve walked?

- Honestly I think my favorite show will forever be my first show and my first show was YSL. Actually Chanel was amazing too. I’ve walked many times for Chanel. Chanel was very special and JPG shows were always fantastic as well.

Who would you hang out with backstage?

You know it was very interesting in the modelling days cause it was almost as if everybody was divided. The Brazilians always hung out together, the Russians always hung out together and then it was like the rest of the models from all around the world hung out together. Very rarely were you okay to go into the Brazilian tribe or into the Russian tribe. For some reason I was always able to tap.

Why did you never do VS?

- I never wanted to do VS. I didn’t want to do anything too revealing but I did do work like that at the beginning cause I didn’t have an option, you know when you start any kind of business you don’t have an option, you do what you’re told to do and then once I had options I never wanted to go back and do anything too revealing, see-through and whatnot. Victoria Secret was never something I ever wanted to do. Also I was too high fashion for Victoria Secret.

Did you ever get to keep any of the stuff you wore on the runway?

- Most of the time no but some of the time yes. As you became more famous then it became more accessible. If you said I loved this or I liked this then they would say okay you could keep it. But I never really kept clothes cause I didn’t care. I mostly kept shoes, that’s what I liked.

What made you stop modelling?

- I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and I was about 8 months pregnant when I did my last job. That’s when I knew that it wasn’t what I wanted anymore. Though I could tell you that I feared for so long about what would my life be like when I stopped modelling. I mean I had been doing it since I was 15 years old.

Would you let your daughters model?

- Absolutely not. The industry is very,very,very aggressive in every single perspective to me.
