Can you tell us a  little about you?

Hi, my name is Michal Idan, 21 years old  from Israel. I'm working as a bartender and professional model. I started  modeling  nine years ago, when I was 12. I was born to  a religious family,  so it was very difficult to express my modeling character as it coincide with my family beliefs about modesty . In my early career my first productions were mostly wedding dresses and beauty, and as I made a progress I focused on lingerie and swimwear, which as for now is my zone.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I really love my body so I am trying to stay in fit all  time. I admit my genes are not that "thin" so I when I got the feeling that I gain some pounds  I cut the sweets and doing more sports. In the other hand , I believe people should be happy with their body because it's one of the best recipe to maintain joy and confidence. So, even if my genes don’t allow me to get the perfect shape, I still maintain a healthy good conversation with them. One thing I surely would change in my character is my hot-blooded temper. I can get angry really quick for nothing.

How did you start modeling?

I started modeling at 12 years old. My older sister was a model too, so she has exposed this world to me and brought me into it. The rest is history.

What is your beauty regimen?

I'm doing a lot of sports, 3-4 times a week for my health and for my body's shape because fitness is very important. I eat 3 meals every day constantly. d My breakfast is yogurt with granola without sugar, my lunch made up of vegetables, chicken and something with a lot of dietary fiber (bean, rice, lentil, soybean, oatmeal). at dinner I  eat just a  little bit( mostly white cheese with rice cakes and vegetables, or salad with egg or tuna). As between of my meals I eat mostly fruits. Every day I'm applying cream on my face and  body and trying to sleep at least 8 hours and not less.

Interview. Part 2

What do you think of the work as a model?

I think that there is a vast gap between what ordinary people think about the industry and how it actual working. I can think about some major ones :

1. models don’t get that much sleep. A lot of editorials are taking place in early hours of the day so you should not go and party all night.

2. Beauty beauty beauty – Well , it’s the core of the industry. You need to stay beautiful all day long so if you haven’t slept well the night before, the camera will notice it and will make it even worse  than it actually looks.

3. Improvise – If you slept well , and you look awesome, your troubles haven’t gone yet. One major part of being a successful model is the ability to cope with the camera  man by posing a vast of faces , feelings or other values that the client's wants from you as part of his product marketing strategy. You should keep improvise to stay innovative so you will no repeat the same poses, which can make clients think you are yesterday's news.

4. Heels – one word . lot's of pain (specially for runaway's models)

5. Food - if you managed to eat an apple in a shooting day you are lucky.

6. Diversity is limited -  As much as we can describe beauty in manner of diversity , beauty is limited and the competition is very tough. Most of the times you will find yourself in the same room with tens or hundreds girls which some of them looks really like you but taller , thinner and so.

7. Home is where editorials are – most of the international models travels a lot and don’t get the chance to spend a consecutive month at home. Each place you go has different culture habits and so. Plus , every month or two you have different room-mates. Every room mate has it own advantages and disadvantages. You know .. people…
