Ronaldo to AC Milan?

Italian powerhouse trading figures with Brazilian star

MILAN, Italy (AP) -- AC Milan is interested in signing Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

"The Ronaldo hypothesis exists," Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said Wednesday. "Now, we are waiting to see what Real Madrid has to say."

Italian media reported that Galliani met with the Brazil striker's agent Fabiano Farah on Tuesday and agreed to a deal worth around $7.7 million per season.

"The hypothesis is for a permanent transfer and a contract for a year and a half, at a figure inferior to what I have read in the newspapers today," Galliani said, without disclosing financial details. "The contract is the same one in length that he has with Real. The offer is to free up his contract with a permanent deal."

Gazzetta dello Sport suggested Wednesday that the transfer hinged on whether Madrid was prepared to let the three-time FIFA Player of the Year, who used to play with Milan's city rival Inter, leave without a transfer fee.

Madrid has already rebuffed an offer of $12.9 million for the forward by Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad and want $19.4 million, Gazzetta reported.

Ronaldo came close to joining Milan in August but the clubs failed to reach an agreement. Milan at the time offered $28.4 million for the 30-year-old but Madrid also wanted an option on the Italian team's Brazil midfielder Kaka.

Ronaldo, whose contract expires in 2008, is said to be seeking to leave Madrid during January's transfer window after coach Fabio Capello said that he was surplus to requirements.

Madrid president Ramon Calderon said Monday that it would better for Ronaldo and the club if the player left.

The Brazil star has only scored once in seven league appearances this season -- made mostly as a substitute -- and has been plagued by a knee injury. That compares with 82 goals in 120 league matches in his first four seasons after joining from Inter Milan in 2002.

Milan has struggled in attack this season since Andriy Shevchenko joined Chelsea in the offseason. The Rossoneri are ninth in Italy's Serie A with 23 points after starting the season with an eight-point penalty from a match-fixing scandal.

Ronaldo Close To Milan Deal

Ronaldo is close to completing a move from Real Madrid to AC Milan, according to reports from Italy.

The Brazilian superstar has fallen out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, with his fitness and attitude coming under the spotlight.

And now it looks certain that he'll be the latest Galactico to depart the Spanish capital, with David Beckham's departure for LA Galaxy already confirmed.

Spanish daily Marca claimed earlier this week that the Rossoneri have already agreed terms with Ronaldo at six million Euros per season (around £4million).

It appeared Madrid wanted 20million Euros (around £13million) for his transfer, but now Gazzetta Dello Sport claims the fee could be much lower.

They say Milan have only offered four million, but could go as high as 10million, which might be enough to clinch a deal.

Milan won't budge on Ronaldo

Adriano Galliani has reaffirmed Milan's stance that they will not pay a fee for Ronaldo.

The Brazilian forward has slipped down the pecking order at Real Madrid and has been informed that he can seek out a new home.

Milan are keen to bring him back to Italy, but are only prepared to sign the 30-year-old on a free transfer.

Real are eager to secure some sort of fee for Ronaldo and at present there seems no sign of a resolution being found.

Galliani has stressed Milan have no plans to enter into dialogue with Real and has urged Ronaldo to resolve his own future.

"I hear people saying Real are waiting for my trip to Madrid," Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I want to make it clear that Milan has no intention of opening negotiations with the Spanish side.

"This affair has been presented to us with the assumption that Ronaldo will annul his deal in January.

"So we will not intervene. We will wait with patience up until 7pm on 31st January (when the Italian market will officially close).

"It will be up to Ronaldo to tell us he will be able to free himself within that time."

It has been suggested that Milan have offered Filippo Inzaghi as a makeweight in the deal, but this has been denied by Galliani.

"I repeat there haven't been contacts with Real and there won't be. Pippo is untransferable."

Moratti dissapointed by Ronaldo rumours

Inter Milan Chairman, Massimo Moratti, has said that he would be disappointed if former player Ronaldo made a transfer from Real Madrid to play for Inters city rivals AC Milan.

Moratti said: "Surely I cannot be pleased as an Inter supporter, seeing Ronaldo, once a great player for us, now putting himself at Milan's disposal".

Moratti went on to say that from a personal point of view he wished the Real Madrid striker happiness for the future, but from a professional point of view he would not wish him luck playing for Milan.

AC Milan's Ronaldo deal gets complicated

MADRID (AFP) - Brazilian superstar Ronaldo, once again left out in the cold by Real Madrid, is unhappy that negotiations for a transfer to AC Milan have become more complicated than he had hoped, the Spanish press have reported.

Sports daily Marca said Saturday that that players are unhappy with the Ronaldo situation and want him to play again and not to be kept out of the group by coach Fabio Capello.

Capello had earlier in the week made it clear neither the 2002 World Cup winner and three-time world player of the year Ronaldo nor former England captain David Beckham would play for the club again but has since made noises that he may soften his stance on Beckham.

Ronaldo, according to reports, is still out of favour.

The official line from the club is that Ronaldo was not picked for Sunday's trip to Real Mallorca because of a "technical decision" but that Beckham, who has signed for LA Galaxy next season on a 250-million-pound (380-million-euro) deal, was sidelined because of injury.

AC Milan general manager Silvano Ramaccioni said on Friday they were close to signing Ronaldo but since then negotiations have allegedly become more complicated.
