March 13, 20169 yr Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2016 Lookbook Model Moment: Sasha Kichigina We’ve seen you staring. Time for a proper intro. World, meet Sasha Kichigina. You may recognize her from being pretty much all over our website—and with that crazy gorgeous hair, you just can’t miss her. Take a few secs to get to know her better. So, where you from? Vitebsk, Belarus. What’s your “How I was ‘discovered?’” model story? I was discovered at the age of 13, my mother agent held a casting at my school! Where do you live now? New York City! How would you describe your personal style? My middle name is “Eclectic.” What do you like to do when you’re not in front of the camera? To live! Before a casting, is there any sort of ritual you do (an outfit, a specific piece you wear, beauty detail, mantra, anything!) to give yourself an extra jolt of confidence? I listen to The Doors’ song “Touch Me.” That always helps. Modeling seems like a dream job. What do you love about it? Seeing the world, traveling, and meeting so many amazing people. It can get crazy, though, right? What do you do to shake off a tough day? I’ll watch a funny TV Show or listen to Miles Davis. Plans for a post-modeling career? Or are you a model for life? I prefer not to plan too far into the future. I love modeling, but I definitely would love to do art gallery administration and study music history. I would love to focus on my charity work. Modeling’s great for that because it builds up an audience—I can bring attention to a certain cause, and reach out with social media, and get even more people involved. Go-to song or artist for when you’re on set? No particular go-to, but for today let’s say Marvin Gaye’s “Heard It Through the Grapevine.” What’s something in your bag we’d be surprised to find? My bag is like a huge black hole, so I’d be surprised if you could find anything there, ’cause it’s complete chaos. When you’re shooting, who/what vibe do you channel in front of the camera? Can you tell us about how you got scouted? My mother agent noticed me at the age of 13 when I was attending fashion studio classes organised by my agency. What have you been up to since you got scouted? Finishing high school and working at the same time. I’ve been working in Tokyo 4 months in total, in Milan, and finally got to NY a few months ago. What’s your favourite thing that you’ve worn on a shoot or in a show that you wish was yours? Calvin Klein silk flower dress from the SS16 collection. Who would be your dream photographer to work with? Or your dream designer to work for? Peter Lindberg, I find the inspiration in his works again and again, people and their feelings are so real on his pictures, he looks at everybody he shoots from his particular side, so you can easily recognize the style, it seems like I can’t stop admiring. Dream designer? Let it be D&G, these guys know better than anyone else how to make a woman feel herself beautiful. What do you do when you’re not modelling? My university studies, singing and playing piano, reading professor Dawkins’ books and eating pancakes. Oh, and listening to music all the time. What’s been your favourite moment as a model so far? It is a hard question. Probably the shooting for the advertising in Japan where I was wearing the Japanese national wedding kimonos. They were incredibly beautiful and incredibly heavy. Which city would you love to live in? I don’t know yet, I love NY for now, but if talking about future I would prefer some warm place with mild climate right by the ocean coast. Do you prefer shoots or shows? Both! Who’s your favourite female model and who is your favourite male model? Tyra Banks and Zoolander!
