February 16, 200718 yr Jens expects Honda turnaroundJenson Button is confident Honda will be able to make the necessary improvements to is RA107 car to “put us in the position that we want to be in” by the first race of the new season in Melbourne. The Brackley-based squad had another low-key week in 2007’s third group test at Barcelona, with the team’s new car yet to make an impression at the sharp end of the field.Button’s best lap of the week was a mammoth 1.6s off Felipe Massa’s benchmark time, as he worked on a development programme which included chassis set-up and aero evaluations. He believes, however, that significant progress was made with the performance of the RA107 at Barcelona and has faith that the team will be in a strong position by the season-opener next month."We spent a lot of time this week working on the set-up and balance of the car,” he said.“We have made some improvements and I believe that we now have a much better understanding of the car and aerodynamics.“We still have a lot of work to do before the first race and it will be important to make every day count.“I am confident that we can make the right steps to put us in the position that we want to be in."Team-mate Rubens Barrichello endured a fairly miserable week of testing; only completing 153 laps in total across the three days at the Circuit de Catalunya. After stopping twice and going off the circuit once on the first day, the experienced Brazilian’s RA107 suffered an exhaust problem on Wednesday which damaged the car’s bodywork. He says he is now looking to next week’s Bahrain test to gain a better understanding of where the team stands in comparison to its rivals."It has been a mixed week for me as my first day was affected by the rain and then we had the issue with the car today so I haven't been able to cover the laps that we were planning,” he said.“However Jenson had a better time putting mileage on the car so we could still progress.“I am now looking forward to the two weeks of testing in the hot weather of Bahrain where we should get a better understanding of how we are progressing compared to the competition."
