Khedira: We're not a team yet

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira says the players are yet to come together as a team.

With the arrival of Jose Mourinho as well as new signings like Khedira, Mesut Ozil and Angel di Maria, expectations were going through the roof at the Bernabeu.

However, los Blancos have not exactly set the season on fire so far, although they remain undefeated. They reached the top of the La Liga table after the 3-0 win over Espanyol on Tuesday and German Khedira feels the side needs some more time.

Speaking to the Spanish press, he said:"We are still under construction, and when changing coach and training methods, it remains difficult to win. We are trying to play well, but we know it will be difficult to win every game.

"It is normal that those viewing want to see good football. But we must not forget that we have played three games in six days and we have accumulated fatigue."

The former Stuttgart man also spoke of the Bernabeu pitch which had earlier been slammed as a "potato field" by Mourinho.

"Clearly we are not playing on the best possible pitch. It is not in top condition. But I think from next week it will be better," said Khedira.

He also revealed that both he and Ozil were trying to pick up Spanish as quickly as possible.

"We understand the instructions from Mourinho and if there is any problems we use English, which is the dominant language of most players. However, both Oezil and I are working very hard to learn Spanish."
