Alex is a Canadian born singer who was raised in Florida. As a teenager, he moved to New York where he formed the bands Saint Mary's Children and Crucial Truth. In 1986 he formed his most successful band Circus of Power. After COP split up he went on to front the bands Absolutely Free, Uncle Max's Cosmic Band, Second Rings of Power, Plastic Gator Machine and Fat Nancy.

He is also a poet and a writer. He has written 2 books, Life is a Phantom K-Mart Horse Starting Up in the Middle of the Night and Working Class Superstar.

Alex currently lives in Topanga Canyon, California where he raises wolves and writes for Far West Almanac. He does get together with COP about every few years to have reunion shows.
