First appeared on stage in Birmingham with the Pilgrims Players in "Fifinella". He made his first appearance on the London stage in 1913 in "Where the Rainbow Ends". He made his first talkie debut in the movie "Madame Guillotine" in 1931. Before going to Hollywood, he made a few more movies in the U.K. He made over 30 films in the U.S. Passed away of heart failure in Venice, Florida on Feb. 10, 1986
