Her first American film was the movie "Intermezzo", made in 1939. She is ranked #4 on the Greatest Female Star list of American Cinema by the American Film Institute. Her awards include: 1945-won the Academy Award for Best Actress and the Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in "Gaslight" 1946-won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in The Bells of St. Mary 1947-won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for "Joan of Lorraine" 1957-won the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Actress in "Anastasia" 1975-won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Murder on the Orient Express" 1982-Ingrid won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her last role in "A Woman Called Golda" 1983-she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television She passed away in London on August 29, 1982 after battling breast cancer.
