Born on May 20, 1983 in Los Angeles. Roger had a terrible childhood. His father was a drug addict and an alcoholic. He left Roger's mother for another woman. Roger's mother then became physically abusive to him. Child Protective Services placed Roger in a foster home for a short time. His mother lost custody and fled to El Salvador taking Roger with her when he was 7 years old. She left Roger with his grandmother until she returned a year later. She then took Roger to Texas and left him on his father's front steps. That was the last time Roger saw his mother.

He then endured mental and physical abuse from his father and stepmother. They moved back to Mexico and left Roger with his grandparents there. Several months later, Roger's father came back and they went back to Texas. His father left his stepmother, leaving Roger behind. At 12 years of age, Roger was kicked out. He lived on the streets for several years, surviving the streets by joining a gang.

Roger did manage to stay in school this entire time.

In high school, his English teacher Jo Ramirez took Roger in and eventually adopted him when he was 19.

Roger is a former UFC fighter, currently in the Bellator Fighting Championships.

He is making his acting debut in the movie "Tekken".

He won a unanimous decision over Leonard Garcia at UFC 69. SI reporters were there covering a story on Randy Couture. But they were very impressed with Huerta and he became the first MMA fighter to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
