Posted April 11, 201015 yr Born Dixie Virginia Carter on May 25, 1939 in McLemoresville, Tennessee. Ms. Carter is best known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker in "Designing Women". She was nominated for an emmy for her role as Gloria Hodge in "Desperate Housewives". I was saddened to hear she passed away last night. April 10, 2010. She was a true Southern Lady and never forgot her roots. Her last film was made in the summer of 2008, "That Evening Sun". Filmed in her native Tennessee with her husband Hal Holbrook. She has 2 daughters from her first marriage.
April 11, 201015 yr I was also sad to hear of her passing, I really liked her. She was a very classy lady and a talented actress. She will be missed.
