Miriam Edez Adelaida Leventon was born on May 22, 1879 in Yalta, Crimea (which is now Ukraine). She was a Russian/American stage and film actress.

By 1903 she was a big star in Moscow and in St. Petersburg. In 1905 she moved to New York City and opened up a Russian language theater in the Lower East Side.

Alla made her Broadway debut in 1906 and became a popular stage actress.

"War Brides" was her first movie in 1915.

Later on in her life she developed breast cancer and survived. She passed away in Los Angeles of coronary thrombosis on July 13, 1945.
