December 31, 20168 yr H&M Magazine PHOTO: SORAYA ZAMAN Quote JULIA HAFSTRÖM ON HER BEST BEAUTY SECRETS The Swedish model feels the most beautiful when she feels the most alive (translation: after drinking coffee). DEC 30, 2016 PHOTO: SORAYA ZAMAN With copper locks, chestnut brown eyes and a face resembling a beautiful elf from Lord of the Rings, Swedish native Julia Hafström has become one of the most successful models to come out of the country this decade. She got her big break back in 2009, when iconic photographer Steven Meisel requested to have her on his set, shooting a Prada campaign. She went on to book ads for Tommy Hilfiger, MAC, Dior and Gucci, to name a few, as well as being on the covers of Dazed Magazine, Vogue Turkey, CR Fashion Book and Le Monde’s M. This winter and spring she’s the face of H&M’s new range of beauty products, which is why we decided to make some edits in our well-tried top model secrets questionnaire, and polished it up with a bunch of beauty questions. Read on to learn all about her routine, signature look and secrets. WHAT IS BEAUTY TO YOU? “Nature is beauty to me.” WHO IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON YOU KNOW? “My boyfriend.” WHEN DO YOU FEEL THE MOST BEAUTIFUL? “After I've had my morning coffee, it’s when I feel most alive.” WHAT IS THE BEST BEAUTY TRICK YOU’VE PICKED UP FROM THE PROS? “To hydrate well – it makes your skin look and feel better.” WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT YOUR BODY? “I think I have nice shoulders.” The smell of trees and flowers in bloom. I'm not sure why, but it just makes me happy JULIA HAFSTRÖM HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED USING MAKEUP? “I'm not sure, I never really used makeup before I started modeling, so I guess around 15.” WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE BEAUTY LOOK? “A natural glowy look.” WHICH SMELL TRIGGERS HAPPY MEMORIES FOR YOU? “The smell of trees and flowers in bloom. I'm not sure why, but it just makes me happy.” HAVE YOU ALWAYS LIKED THE WAY YOU LOOK? “No, I thought my mouth was too big for my face for a couple of years, so I tried not to smile in pictures.” WHAT DID YOU LOOK LIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL? “I'd say I dressed mainly for comfort in high school. I didn't wear makeup, but I played around with different hairstyles.” GROWING UP, DID YOU HAVE A BEAUTY ICON? “I always looked up to my sister and her friends for style and beauty-related things, but I never had a famous beauty icon.” IF YOU COULD CHOOSE YOUR AGE FOREVER, WHAT AGE WOULD YOU CHOOSE? “I'm 24 now, I definitely wouldn't want to be younger, so I'd say 25.” WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY SECRET? “For me it's important to hydrate. I drink a lot of water and use gentle face products.” WHAT WAS YOUR CHILDHOOD NICKNAME? “Julle.” WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD? “I love avocado.” WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF BEING A MODEL? “The fact that everything is so last-minute, it makes it hard to plan your life.” WHAT BEAUTY PRODUCT DO YOU ALWAYS CARRY WITH YOU? “A good lip balm because I get really chapped lips, especially when I travel.” WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO POST-MODELING? “I'm not sure, still trying to figure that out.” source: hm.com
