Megadeth’s Marty Friedman on TVXQ

Marty Friedman, former lead guitarist of heavy metal band Megadeth and a Japanophile recently shared his thoughts on TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki:

"They would sell even if they weren’t good looking! TVXQ’s singing ability is worth its value in money.

TVXQ, an accapella dance group from Korea, and who attended last year’s Kouhaku Uta Gassen, can be said to be the representative of “Global J-pop” with their impressive harmonizing.

Maybe fans will say it’s bullshit, but to me, if you can sing, you’ll be able to sell even if you weren’t good looking, right?

Their song [bolero], is a great ballad that showcases their super vocals.

What surprised me was that compared to other J-pop ballads, the feeling for this song is dark. The beat is slow, and there was no usage of guitars etc. Even so, the song gave off a dark and haunting vibe to me.

I like K-pop too, and I listen to it often, and there are of course other songs with dark vibes too. The difference with J-pop is that K-pop uses Classic music as it’s foundation, thus naturally creating a melody with a dramatic feel.

At the “ending climax”, one person (Jaejoong) uses an almost feminine pitch to produce the effect of harmonizing between men and women; the harmonization from the 5 of them is amazing!"

"Stand By U" Sales Reach 100K Mark in 2 Days

Vocal group, Tohoshinki's new Japanese single was released and they sold almost 120,000 singles in 2 days, which is no mean feat.

On 2nd July, according to the calculations by Oricon Style, Tohoshinki's 28th single [stand by U], which was released on 1st July, sold 24,946 on the second day of sales.

Released on the 1st, the single sold a total of 94,838 on the first day, and combining the sales of 24,946 on the second day, that is a total of 119,784, breaking past the 100K mark. In the 4 years since their Japanese debut, of all the Japanese singles that Tohoshinki released, this is the fastest single to pass the 100K mark.

For the past 2 days, Tohoshinki has continuously ranked behind Arashi, and holds second place on the Oricon Singles Daily Chart.

Dong Bang Shin Ki is #1 on Oricon daily chart

Dong Bang Shin Ki has risen up to #1 position on Japanese Oricon daily chart with the song ‘Stand By U’ released in Japan on 1st July. And in just 5 days, it has gone up to the #1 position on Oricon daily chart.

They had overtaken popular group Arashi’s new single and went up to the #1 position.

Dong Bang Shin Ki has been recently called to have hit the ‘triple 3′ with 30K album copies sold for their single, and also for their recent full length album, plus they hit 30K number of fans present for their Japanese concert tour. They also rewrote history by being the 1st Korean artiste to perform at the Tokyo Dome on 4th and 5th July for their finale Japanese concert tour performances.

Meanwhile, the group is set to be performing on a-nation concert from 1st August.

Toho and Aya Ueto at their first press conferene

Actress Aya Ueto, poster child for the new CM for『Oronamin C Drink』and guest characters Korean-born popular group, Tohoshinki, participated in the press conference that was held on 7th July. The popular group had just had a successful 2-days at the Tokyo Dome, and this is their first collaboration with Aya Ueto, who said "I'm happy to monopolise" with a smile.

In passing, as it was the Festival of the Weaver/Star Festival today, when asked about the ideal image of stars, they revealed, "Someone who is able to hold out till the end is good. A person who is distant but established".

For the new CM, Aya Ueto dresses up in an OL, and the content also includes Tohoshinki singing in acapella. Looking back, Aya Ueto said, "Everyone was friendly and talked, so we were all able to loosen up". Jejung gave high praise and said, "Ueta-san has a cute image, but if you see her close up, she's a beautiful woman. It's our first time (collaborating) and the atmosphere was good", and it seems that they are very compatible.

Aya Ueta who appears in the『Oronamin C Drink』CM with the image of a woman in a red yukata, told the press that her wish for the Festival of the Weaver was, "It's been a long time since I participated in a live during summer, I want to perform in front of a large assembly of people," expressing her excitement at returning to the music scene after 2 years.

On the other hand, Jejung said, "Personally, I want to go on a date with a lover. But I don't have a lover, and I haven't gone on a date for years. She should have the 'Genki batsuratsuu?' feeling" mixing in the slogan of the product they were promoting, which appealed to the audience.

This is Aya Ueto's 17th participation in a CM, and it will become Tohoshinki's first domestic Japanese CM. 『Acapella Shinki』the new CM for『Oronamin C Drink』will be broadcasted nationwide on 11th July.

Please Be Mine Saipan Interview - Junsu

- What do you think of Saipan?

JS: This is the third time I'm here but the vacation this time is the best.

- Why is it so? Are there any incidents that have left a deep impression on you?

JS: It's been a while since I've been to a vacation site and my mood is rather good too. There is ping-pong there and we played it for a very long time, it left a deep impression on me. Also, the members all drank beer in the evening and sang on a LIVE CLUB stage.

- During the promotion for Mirotic, you did alot of exercise. Other than playing ping-pong, do you do alot of sports during your free time?

JS: I have already set my heart to do sports, other than that, I also play games, watch movies, just like normal times only more relaxed. Sleeping too, and since I like soccer, I also play soccer.

- Your favourite sport is soccer? Do you have a team?

JS: Correct, my favourite is soccer. During our stay at Saipan, we played indoor soccer, it was very interesting.

- What did you do during your free time before Saipan?

JS: I went home and it has also been 6, 7 years since we had a family outing. We went to the beach, ate raw fish. Although it is not a very special occasion but it was definitely worth treasuring and I enjoyed it alot.

- If you have a special off-days, are there some things that is a must do? What do you think is the secret to spending your vacation happily?

JS: While being on vacation, I would usually wonder "I want to do this, I want to do that" and have alot of plans but when the vacations are over, I usually don't do any one of those. On the contrary, I would not want to go out and get a headache deciding on where to go. If I have time, I'd rather stay at home.

- Then, in the future, if you have any more vacations, what do you want to do the most?

JS: HOLIDAY!

- And to where?

JS: Although the main reason of us coming to Saipan this time round is due to filming, but I did feel abit of a vacation. Sleeping on the island, drinking coconut juice and have also become even closer with the members.

- Do you like places that are similar to Europe?

JS: I like places that are more soothing instead. Places with coconut trees seem to bring about more comfort. (T/N: <3 Be careful not to get hit by the coconuts!)

- What do you feel about Saipan?

CM: Although we have already came thrice, but I still feel that this time was better because it was really interesting.

- I heard that you had a few days off before coming to Saipan, what did you do during that period?

CM: I met up with friends and drank together, ate together and climbed a mountain myself. It has been about a year since I saw my friends so I used this opportunity to meet up with them. If I have extra time, I would also go for a few courses regarding singing. (T/N: Always hardworking Changmin biggrin.gif)

- Do you have any secrets to spend vacations happily?

CM: Talking about rest, because we have gone through a full year of promotion and activities, compared to planning on where to go, I rather pass the days quietly. Other than meeting up with friends at night, I don't go out and stay at home to listen to music.

- While vacationing, compared to cities, you seem to prefer places that are more soothing?

CM: Although I rerally love quiet self-mediation places but if I have the chance, I would like to go to New York, a place where there are alot of people.

- Recently in vacations, do you have any deep impressions of anything?

CM: Driving by mself. Driving aimlessly, not really wondering where to go. If I'm around Seoul, I'll go back and proceed on to Incheon then going on to Gyeonggi-do then climbing a mountain and proceeding home while listening to music.

- Do you have any plans for the rest this summer?

CM: Although we did not have a rest this summer but if we did, I would like to go to Paula Paula Island (T/N: No idea what this is, directly translated) with my lover. The last time we had a family outing was 7, 8 years ago so I would like to go on a holiday with my parents and sister. I'm not sure if it could be fulfilled.

- If you had free time, would you like to do alot of sports?

CM: The members all love sports. I like exercising myself but I also like doing it as a group.

- Are there any incidents that left a deep impression on you this time round in Saipan?

CM: On the last day, me and the workers were chatting while walking, the members were sitting at the sea side at the far end and were drinking beer carefreely.I really miss that night's last meal, every moment has left a deep impression.

- Think about a future you?

CM: To be able to have a happy family.

- Of all the things you have experienced in Saipan, were there any that left an impression?

YC: Picking coconuts to eat. It seems like I was able to open a few coconuts with just one move. This is a first-time experience. It held a real wildlife experience. And also, going to the beach after visiting a beershop. In the evening, we were drinking beer together with the staff.

- Do you have any plans for this year's summer vacations?

YC: We must have our rest days first..

- During vacations, where do you want to go and with whom?

YC: I want to go to Switzerland alone.

- Alone? What kind of person are you?

YC:To be honest, I'm the kind of often feels lonely and that's how my inner self shows.

- It seems to fit an Europe holiday.

YC: I personally like Switzerland. For Europe, I like Brazil and Czech Republic.

- Do you have any special reason for your liking for Switzerland?

YC: I have come across some nice background scenery of Switzerland and I like them alot. After going to Switzerland, I'd like to go to Provence.

- If you have a lover, where would you like to go?

YC: I would like to go to a place with a good atmosphere. First thing that I want to do is to bring her out at night after a day at work.

- Which vacation left the deepest impression?

YC: I can't exactly call it a holiday. It was in Japan and we left for the hot springs. Everytime we go there, the memory is precious to me.

- During the activities in Japam, what would you do when you go back to Seoul?

YC: There really is alot of things. I would like to drink and of course my tolerance is not bad. I would like to see Korean staff overseas as well so when I go back, we can drink together. Although I don't really like a crowd but I can manage drinking with the staff,

- You don't like to go to a place with a crowd in Seoul?

YC: I don't go. I usually go out in the evening. If it's in the morning, I'd feel dizzy. (T/N: Ofcourse, since YC Isn't a morning boy!)

- What do you think about Saipan? Did you film a lot of sports scenes?

JJ: The things that happened were more than expected. It was a holiday full of interesting scenes and also, hardship.

- Were there any things that left a deep impression?

JJ: Because I had to become a MC, it was quite burdensome and hard, to be honest. (T/N: <3 We're here!!)

- Do you have any special plans for this year's summer holidays?

JJ: Actually, we had no vacations. But if we had the time, I would like to go back to my hometown and meet up with friends. During the rest before coming to Saipan, me and my friends went to China. (T/N: ZOMG AND NO ONE REALIZED?!?!) Although the time was short but we ate alot of delicious food and played alot.

- Where would you like to go if you had a vacation?

JJ: I would like to drive to different places. Not Seoul but to a quiter place.

- Is there anyone you'd like to specially go with?

JJ: If I had a girlfriend, I would go with her but it's okay if I'm going alone as well.

- Why would you want to drive there?

JJ: Compared to China, I prefer to drive to places. It's relaxing and comfortable. (T/N: wasn't driving stressful?!) I can also bring alot my favourite songs. If I like someone, the thing I would want to do would be to bring her along. Ah, and on our anniversary as well.

- What kind of music would you want to listen to?

JJ: I don't really have a specific genre for music.

- In your previous vacations, which one has the deepest impression?

JJ: Going to Paula Paula Island with the members.

- Is there any special reason?

JJ: It is the most beautiful island to date, and is a good self-meditation place. As we had to go there to have a shooting for a poster, it is a place full of good memories.

- Personally, if you go for a vacation, do you prefer cities or self-meditation places?

JJ: It;'s not either actually, I just like to go to a place. Even if it's not somewhere far, I like to drive to different corners. There is also another reason - because I hate the sun so compared to the day, I prefer the night although it might be a little dangerous. (T/N: Jae, the pretty boy who can't stand the sun XD)

- During the activities in Japan, what would you like to do if you go back to Seoul?

JJ: There is no special thing, just meeting up with friends and drink.

- Is it very stressful and troublesome to have security following you?

JJ: I'm used to it now and have already learnt how to face it.

- How do you reduce the stress?

JJ: Composing. Once I have the time, I would compose and relieve my stress at the same time.

- What do you think about Saipan?

YH: Although we have been exercising the whole day but it is rather interesting to film in such a carefree environment. When the shooting ends and we drink together with the staff, play ping-pong and swim at night. It was really enjoyable. Although we are always shooting and filming and we feel tired but we will show everyone our comfortable and enjoyable self and let the fans who see this feel like coming here as well. That is why letting everyone see our genuine self is not something bad.

- During this period, are there any things that left a special memory?

YH: It's swimming and playing basketball in the water with the staff. We also played hide-and-seek, ate and chatted freely together. It really is a deep impression. (T/N: Omg, hide-and-seek, dorky them XD) It is just like going to the army with my friends. Our members have never ended army during their university period but it really feels like army.

- Do you have any special plans for this summer vacation?

YH: If I am unable to go to Las vegas, I would like to go Jeju Island. If there is still time after the shooting today, I would like to go to a clean place to walk around. To be able to go to a place where not many Koreans know isn't too bad. Our country has alot of beautiful places to go but there are also alot of places that we haven't went.

- Where would you usually go during a vacation?

YH: This time we went back to Gwangju Metropolitan City. Firstly, I went to pray to the ancestors and then proceeding to the elder village and gave my grandparents delicious food. I ate with my family and went back to my former school. Actually, because my parents like to help others, I have learnt to do that unconsciously as well.

- Which part of Seoul do you like the most?

YH: Since I was born in Jeolla-do, so I have deep feelings for Jeolla-do. But I also like Seoul.

- Do you frequent a place in Seoul?

YH: I occasionally go to Seoul Tower. I'd go to the roof by myself and since I like the sea, I would also go to the seaside with my friends.

- If you have a lover, where is a must go place?

YH; Of course a tourist attraction especially the Santorini Island. If I go with my girlfriend, it would be very romantic. I would also like to bring her home and let her see tha place I was born in. (T/N: -raises hand- , me please!)

- Is there a place that has left a deep impression?

YH: I remember going to the nami Island in Chuncheon with 6 boys wearing high school uniform last year. I like going out with a bunch of guys. Riding a motorcycle, sitting on a boat is a very recent interesting vacation memory.

- During the activities in Japan, what would you do in Korea if you go back? Of course it is if you have the time to.

YH: To go out with my members and friends. As we hardly have any time so I would like to go out and play when there is time. But in reality, time that actually belongs to yourself is never there. Ah~ I would also go for a holiday and go bowling.

- Alot of popular people will leave a long impression on others. What does Yunho want to be?

YH: To be able to enjoy life every day, even if it's hard, I would work hard. Although I don't really like leading life to be too ideal but comapred to a 100 dreams, I think it is better to have a 1000 dreams. For goals, I must have a 1000% determination and work hard even if I can't achieve that much but at least I would reach 999% so I will use all my strength before I succeed. In the future, I would like to become the responsibility of those who want to be able to become the driving force of our country, but until now, there are those who are finding a hard time find an opportunity. Although I am unable to see the results of the future right now, but if I start working hard now, I will become proud of myself one day, right?

- Are you contented with your life now?

YH: When I just started, it was quite hard and it wasn't easy to get used to it. I would also occasionally suspect if I did the wrong decision. Because my surroundings are gradually changing, I feel that life is abit wild at the end. I will work hard until I am able to do very good.

Changmin chosen as main character in drama "Paradise Meadow"

A Samhwa Networks and SM Entertainment Joint Collaboration

Popular group TVXQ's Max Changmin (21) has been chosen as the main character of the drama "Paradise Meadow."

Having produced dramas like "Mom is Mad" and "First Wives Club", Samhwa Networks come together with SM Entertainment to co-produce the drama "Paradise Meadow", and it has been made known on the 28th that Max Changmin has been casted as the main character.

"First Shop of Coffee Prince's" Jang Hyun Joo and "Into the Sun's" Suh Hee Jung co-write "Paradise Meadow" as a romantic melodrama. They start shooting next month at Jeju Island.

Samhwa Networks says, "It is a bright and light story, with beautiful music that harmonizes with the melo picture, and at the end of the year, we will start to broadcast the program in Japan and South East Asia."

Yunho's efforts for Heading to the Ground

September 9th is the first broadcast of MBC new drama “Heading to The Ground” with TVXQ’s member Jung Yunho (23) as the leading role challenging his first acting experience.

Due to preparation of this drama, Yunho’s sleeping time has been reduced.

TVXQ’s activity currently is focusing in Japan, therefore, starting the following month Yunho will be busy going back and forth between Korea-Japan as the schedule asks him.

The first full script reading practice had been done few times last week starting July 25th. On July 25th, after script reading practice early in the morning, Yunho had already headed back to Japan in the afternoon. While on July 30th, Yunho will be back to Korea for his first shooting activities.

Yunho put his full efforts for this drama. According to “Heading to The Ground” crew, “Yunho has been contacting the director and script writer a lot these days, to talk about his character.

He even do a lot of exercises to get a shape of an athlete body.”

After seeing Yunho’s practice, PD Park Song-soo said, “He’s quite likely. I can’t wait to see how’s he developing in the next one month.” heldback his compliment yet.

Jung Yunho’s first acting challenge as Cha Bong-Goon in “Heading to The Ground” is expected to get an exploding response to see the fact of TVXQ’s fanbases in entire Asia.

Junsu’s Solo Activities Will Be Announced Soon‏

The announcement of TVXQ’s second half year plan which includes the acting debut from 3 of TVXQ members: Jaejoong for “Heaven’s Postman”, Yunho for “Heading to The Ground”, and Changmin for “Paradise Meadow” is getting a lot of concerned. How high the loyalty of their fans to actually watch the dramas of their idols has become a topic to talk about.

Meanwhile, stick in musical activities, Micky Yoochun and Hero Jaejoong in duet project is targeting Japan market. Their duet song, “COLORS~Melody and Harmony” was introduced for the first time at TVXQ’ concert in Tokyo Dome in early July. The single itself is scheduled to be released and broadcast in late September. The song is produced especially for image song of Japan’s popular character “Hello Kitty 35th anniversary”.

As for Junsu, the only member whose solo activity hasn’t announced yet, there’s still running a careful discussion for his various activities plan including music recording so that he will soon in synergized with other members.

SM entertainment said, “Actually the member who comes out first with solo activity is Junsu who formed AnyBand back then in 2007 for a cellphone CF.”

“The activity plan which will reveal his true talent for both Korea and Japan stage will be announced soon.”

An Interview with Jaejoong

The Mom of the group, Hero Jejung.

At home, cooking for his friends, a very optimistic guy even in the worst situation. The youngest from 9 siblings, and the eldest son among the girls, Jejung has a middle character that is full of assurance.

He was still in 6th grade of elementary school when became newspaper delivery-boy.

In group, there’s a presence of Hero Jejung (23) as a mother. With Yunho as the leader who leads all 5 members altogether, they left their home country and he’s the one who takes care of the home-made dishes. “But recently due to the busy schedule, I tend to run away from households things (laughs). I couldn’t even make up my own room, no way I’m a good mother.”

He became newspaper delivery boy in 6th grade of elementary school, part time job delivering chicken when he was in junior high, and already living alone at the age of 15 to pursue his dream to become an artist.

“When I look back everything, I thought it would be tough. But there’s no things like painful memory to me. That is a really good experience.” He comes with such positive thinking. Talking about reactions from 2005 in Japan when they’re still unaccepted, “We want to go back to Korea,” many times minds like that was revealed. “But we need to overcome the big wall, as we have to believe that we will.” Those words moved the heart.

Living with instinct

He had his own analysis of his character, “Simple, I’m not one who calculates everything. I live with instinct. If there is a troublesome work and that’s the only work available at that time, I’ll try to seek the fun side of it.” For him, game and alcohol are important.

“When all members drink alcohol in joy, we will soon forget the eeriness of work. I’m type that is good with any alcohol, but what I drink most is beer and soju. I’m not weak with alcohol but one who drinks the most is Changmin.”

Tension as weak point.

His weak point is “tension weakness”. When they mobilized 100,000 audiences for two days in Tokyo DOME concert, “I was definitely nervous. I was surprised with the scale of the venue. It was the greatest venue which I have never been experienced til now.

I was shocked to see all audiences lighting up pen light, and Tohoshinki as the point of attraction in the middle of red venue.

There’s a shinning feeling to be surrounded like that.

Maybe I sound like a great pretender, but I really thought that it was really insane. In our early days, we only got to perform in front of less than 100 audiences, even the connection with them was the best, But it’s not something to be proud of.

“Then I got a letter from fan. Said that Tohoshinki had to hang in there. The most important thing was not how big the venue is, but the size of the artist itself.”

When Tohoshinki stands side to side, it’s always Hero Jejung who is in the middle in group. One who is optimistic and has role as a wonderful mother.

Tohoshinki?

- This is family. We’re not connected by blood, but our time together is like a real family. I want to do anything together for a long time with them.

- A clothing store owner. I really like clothes. I’ll be the one who chooses clothes for the members.

Skills?

- peeling sausages. I ever got challenged to peel sausages in a program to see the best, and I’m the fastest.

Favorite singer?

- Fukuyama Masaharu, he got an one of a kind charming voice.

Strong and weak point?

- I’m good at cooking dishes. When members eat my dish, I would feel really glad. My weak point is I have a weak tone. I’ll always be the one who make failures in recording.

An interview with Changmin

Dream to be News Reporter

Changmin (21) is a member who is in charge of “tight” talks in TV program. The youngest member in group, yet the person who takes care the solidness of group (collects important details).

The manager said, “When the other members’ opinion are disjointed, Changmin is the one who unites all the pieces. To take a baseball term… he’s the ‘pinch’.”

Changmin loves to watch sports, in elementary school, he had a dream to be a sports reporter. Even until now, he’s still taking sometime to check on news about baseball and soccer.

When he’s asked about Yakult’s team Lim Chang-Yong, he answered a lot about him, “I know much, right?” with smile.

“To be called as the “pinch” of the team, it’s delightful, however I guess all members also acts like that.” he said shyly.

His father is a Korean teacher, he grew up in a hard working family. Therefore he definitely had no experience in entertainment industry. Changmin was scouted when he’s still in junior high, through his current agency’s audition. “There’s a force that pushed me to follow the audition. Since entertainment is not a world that is close with my family, previously, my parents opposed my decision.” he said.

At the early days of Tohoshinki’s formation, he really felt the age gap among the members. “They’re all just like my seniors. But recently, eventhough we have 1-2 year age gap, we just feel like ordinary friends.”

The 5 members are living together in the same house, and he’s using the living room for sleeping with Junsu (T/N: can I say… LOL LOL LOL??). “The other 3 members and manager just like to walk in and out the living room. I’m happy, but when I need time for myself, I’ll take a walk outside.”

Continue to challenge actively

Because the dream to be on Tokyo Dome stage is already reached, the next goal is to have one million copies sold. In the middle of recession like this, 1 million copies sales seems to be impossible. “The dream of all artists, to perform in front of 100,000 audiences, I’m so glad. But to have 1 million CD sales, I will be even happier.”

If you have a chance to challenge the actor business in Japan

“All members are active in that challenge, I want to do a lot of things people do. If I never come to Japan, I will never think that way. Maybe to perform in other countries wont be bad as well, I just want to do something. We’re all still young, even we might get failed, we would like to challenge as much as possible.”

My weak point is I’m shy. Even though everyday I meet a lot of people, I have to say something but always ended in silence.

Dong Bang Shin Ki Xiah, Micky and Hero for a lawsuit against SM? Worries for group disband

Dong Bang Shin Ki members Xiah JunSu, Micky YooChun and Hero JaeJoong had gone to Seoul Central District Court to hand in an application for provisional disposition to terminate all effects of their exclusive belonging rights contract with SM on 31st July.

It has been known that their reasons for doing so is that the contract with SM Entertainment has many irrelevant conditions attached. It is also known that the content to the contract the 3 members cannot agree to includes having them belonging exclusively to SM Entertainment for 13 years and also unhappiness over profit allocation.

The lawyer responsible for this case said, “We are currently preparing for a lawsuit against SM for this contract. (About the reasons to why) We cannot reveal the details now.”

There has also been saying that the 3 members have differing views to SM on their upcoming ‘Dong Bang Shin Ki cosmetic enterprise expansion’.

Currently out of the 3 members, JunSu is already doing a cosmetic business with his parents. It is said that there were plans for the company to operate a cosmetic business, with sheep placenta as the main ingredient, using the group’s name as the brand name in Seoul GangNam and GyeongGiDo IlSan. It is said that there were also plans for the business to be launched in China bringing in hundreds millions KRW in profit.

But it has been said that the 2 sides are having some differing views and also complications arose through their discussion on how the product and brand will go.

What will happen to the 3 members’ activities scheduled for Dong Bang Shin Ki? There is the upcoming SMTown Live 09 on 16th August. It seems that the members may not be appearing for the concert with their lawsuit with the company.

Especially with all the rumours lately about ‘disbanding of Dong Bang Shin Ki’. To add on, one of the 3 members’ parents have also established their won entertainment company in China.

One of the Korean new media has known through phone call from SM and SM said, “We are aware that some of the (DBSK) members have some disagreements with the company, but we do not know that they have sparked a lawsuit wth the company. The director board of the company is currently having an urgent meeting in an undisclosed place in Seoul to discuss about their countermeasures.”

They also added, “We will have our official stand asap”.

SM Entertainment has released their official stand on the case.

They said on 1st August morning, “It is true that Xiah, Hero and Micky made the application for provisional disposition to terminate the exclusive rights effects from their contract on 31st July at the district court. With that the company is very taken back by the action, we are trying to get confirm all the truth from them currently. “

They continued, “But as a representative group to the country and to Asia, our stand is that activities for Dong Bang Shin Ki have to continue even with this disposition application. And about the problems arising from the discussion to do a cosmetic entreprise, we plan to talk over them and sort out the problems as soon as possible.”

It has been know that members YunHo and ChangMin has decided not to take part in this lawsuit. Both of them are currently preparing for their drama debut this September and year-end.

'After they released their official stand about the contract exclusive right clause retractile application, SM Entertainment’s representative added about rumours to the band’s disbandment, “On SM’s side, we still have much love for Dong Bang Shin Ki. According to this source, it states that on July 31st 3 TVXQ Members, specifically Micky Yoochun, Jaejoong, and Xiah Junsu filed an injunction against SM Entertainment in the Seoul Central District Court to remove the "non exclusivity clause" in their contract. Yunho and Changmin have decided not to file an injunction. Basically the three of them supposedly had meetings with a Chinese cosmetic company and launched a new cosmetic line called CreBeau. They invested some of their own money and also in turn received a some gifts from the Chinese company as incentive package for signing up and investing. Some of the rumored gifts includes Micky's Audi R8 and the townhouse for Xiah's parents.

SM Entertainment supposedly got wind of this news and because SM Entertainment has the "exclusivity clause" in their contract, SM Entertainment tried to prevent this from happening. Unhappy with this, and already unhappy that they feel they're being underpaid profit-wise from album sales, you can understand why they're trying to terminate the "exclusivity clause" in their contracts. There's also rumors that if a favorable agreement isn't met, the three will be leaving the group for good.

SM Entertainment via phone to one of the Korean news media outlets stated that they are aware of the situation, the board of directors is having an emergency meeting and are discussing what to do. They'll have an official statement soon.

Update:

Update from the lawyers representing Micky, Jaejoong, and Xiah: The three and the lawyers have been discussing this for over 2 months. They tried to settle this with SM Entertainment through negotiations behind closed doors, but they broke down therefore the injunction. The contracts are for 13 years and the profit splits are 80% to SM Entertainment and 20% to TVXQ (divided by 5 for each member). The three are prepared to go to court and file a lawsuit if the exclusivity clause isn't dropped.

The 3 members of popular group TVXQ, Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun applied a provisional disposition against SM Entertainment in Seoul Central District Court to remove the “exclusivity clause” in their contract, the factors behind this actions has received attention from public.

Why does the agency fall into this conflict with TVXQ? The factors can be summarized into three kinds of great.

1. TVXQ has different contracts in Korea with SM Entertainment and in Japan with AVEX. While TVXQ is constantly being active in Japan, it does no good with their contract in Korea. If they continue to be active in Japan like this, the Korea activities will be pretty much harmed. There’s a possibility of revenue aspects which is influenced this decision. Whether to focus in Japan or Korea, this creates a conflict within the agency.

2. Difference opinions among the members. There’s a serious disagreements among the members of TVXQ, The group who decided to leave the agency, Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, and Xiah Junsu, is having conflict with the rest members, U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin, who wanted to remain to stay.

3. TVXQ is less active recently domestically. There has been accumulated complaints about TVXQ who is more focusing on Japan than Korea. The fact that they’re concerning more about the number of copies sold in Japan than in Korea is also reported as the pressure.

Also the recent renewal exclusive contract for 7 years which makes them to feel oppression from the agency. TVXQ members are known to be in agony about renewing the seven-year contract time.

SM Entertainment stated, "TVXQ is a band that represents Asia, they must absolutely continue actitivies. The cosmetics company issue, will be resolved."

A dream to be prosecutor

The fact why U-Know Yunho (23) was chosen as the group’s leader.

All members said that it’s because his “charismatic charisma”, and he himself is someone who has a high awareness about the surroundings (T/N: care with other people).

His father is very strict. He’s been taught about a sincere manliness for a belief that “a man should be like this” in him. Due to his father’s lesson, from the very young age, he’s trained to not easily whinny when he made mistakes.

He becomes a natural leader and always been chosen as captain. His dream was to be a public prosecutor back then.

From what being heard, he used to withstand his father a lot.

“It’s true. When I was in middle school, I was in my rebellious stage.”

But now he already gave up to make a change of the natural flow of his life.

“This is what I’m supposed be. I think it’s perfect.” he laughed excitingly.

He added, “When I was still as trainee in my agency, I had never got a compliment like “you did good”. I was wondering whether I wasn’t praised because the expectation of the company was greater. I so missed to get credit of what I did, back then.”

Just like other members, there’s a while in Japan when he’s thinking “Why can’t we be accepted?”. Many nights had passed sleeplessly. The unusual sense of responsibility in him forced out, thus the agony was doubled. “I was thinking about returning back to Korea. Whether this is what we really want to do. I was so scared.” he revealed.

Right now, their stardom has rose steadily in Japan with the stages in Budoukan and Tokyo Dome, however, the most surprising effect happened after they’re invited for the first time and debuted at NHK Kouhaku Red-White concert last year.

When they went to Saipan in the PV shooting, the women of the local residents said, “We know Tohoshinki. We watched them in Red-White concert.”

Currently he’s been addicted to Japan motsunabe. “There are a lot of delicious food in Japan. But if I have to choose one, then motsunabe is. There’s also food like this in Korea, but Japanese’s has more simple taste. When I ate it in Japan for first time in Hakata, it was so delicious that even surprised me. Definitely perfect for my taste.

Everytime I went to eat in Hakata, it’s just like a melody: when being asked, ‘Do you want to eat motsunabe?’ I’ll answered. ‘of course. I want it so much!’”

There’s a hope within the mighty arms.

When being asked about the goals in the future, he cited the name Michael Jackson. “No matter the time has passed, his music remains forever. I’d like to sing songs like that. For everyone who always support us, we’ll never be forgetting our dream.”

With the fans, U-Know Yunho will always keep Tohoshinki at the top pace.

After Tonight Meeting, Official Position Announcement Will be Revealed

3 of 5 members of popular group TVXQ, Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun who recently are having discord with their assigned company, SM Entertainment — through their legal representative from SEJONG law firm said that after the meeting on August 2nd, they will finally reveal the official position on the 3rd.

The law firm SEJONG on the 2nd to Star News said, “Today (August 2nd) in the evening, lawyer of the company and several officials involved will have a meeting.”

“and tomorrow (August 3rd) through press conference, we’ll hold an official press release regarding this matter.”

About the statement they made related to press release on August 1st , “Originally, we didn’t make plan to reveal anything yet since we want the case to be done in steps. However, as there are so many misinformation about the truth fact being rolled up, therefore we decided to hold an official press release.”

Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun represented by SEJONG on July 31st submitted an injunction application at Seoul Central District Court to remove the exclusive clause effect in their contract against SM Entertainment.
