"Kris and Kris" share the same first name: Kristen Grove (born in Pittsburgh in 1971) and Kristen Reichert (born in Toronto in 1972). During the 1990s, they worked as radio and television hosts, singers, and models.

The two met in Bologna while working as models. After becoming friends, they began working together in television, making their debut as VJs on MTV in 1998 and hosting the program *Dancefloor Chart* until 2003

The former veejays are back with the podcast 'Music Mirrors', which, starting with their songs, discusses awareness, toxic relationships, and mindfulness. We also talked about the past, MTV, which "we don't miss much," and plans for the future.

Blondes (at least once) from America, always a couple: these are the main distinguishing features of Kris & Kris, longtime MTV veejays who, despite a few years having passed since their debut on shows like Dance Floor Chart or Select, seem to have lost none of their enthusiasm. We spoke to them over the phone about the arrival of their podcast, Music Mirrors, on all platforms. They asked me if I'd recognize their voices by the time they answered their questions. I replied that those voices had been in my head since 1999.

After working on television and radio, the two are back with a podcast, precisely because "it's a way to convey messages in a direct and intimate way." And what messages do the Kriss want to convey? "We've always wanted to talk about important issues, about society, about what is or what could be, including personal development," says Kris Reichert. We'll be returning to this topic much more often than expected, and you'll understand why. "People have been trained to have very little patience these days. Think social media, videos. We were looking for a middle ground. Something you can listen to while driving, cooking, or working on your computer," adds Kris Grove.

In Music Mirrors, as we mentioned before, the album discusses awareness, toxic relationships, and the relationship with money (to name three). However, it always starts with music: "We used pop songs to outline what's happening today, the direction of thought. If toxic love wasn't talked about before, now songs do. These are beautiful signals that make us understand that people are more aware. In love, at work, in all fields," says KG. "That's why we called it Music Mirrors; the songs are mirrors through which we had to see ourselves," adds KR, who, if he had to choose the best theme he's tackled, would undoubtedly speak of the self-empowerment he mentioned earlier. "You can choose how you feel when you wake up in the morning. We all have bad days, but I like to think that life isn't happening to you, life is happening for you. I can find a way to learn something even from bad times."

I see them again in my head, 25 years ago, announcing the top 3 most danced songs in European clubs. I find them here today, talking to me about how you can live better if you put a little effort into it. Maybe they're right: life is wonderful. "It was a journey that began many years ago, when we were on Radio 105. The program was called Kris&Love, we hosted experts, book authors, and in the end the most recurring theme was personal growth. In those years, we also grew a lot, and then we started practicing meditation and yoga. We're always looking for ways to become the best version of who we are. It's also important for the example we want to set for our children."

And speaking of examples, perhaps they were examples too. Two women who chose to work together, their entire lives, in the world of entertainment. Sisterhood before social media knew what it meant: "We strongly believe that when we're together, we can work miracles," says Kris R. "We made a pact: together or nothing. Before MTV, we were best friends, and we still are. They wanted us to audition separately, but we declined, and then we also decided we would never let a job opportunity or a boyfriend come our way and damage our relationship. That's how it stayed."

At this point, the question of whether they've ever truly gotten tired of each other is a must. KG: "It's hard to get tired of someone who's willing to ask questions. We're both curious. Of course, we argue a lot, but then we listen to each other. And we like to be seen together, at work, to show the endurance of a friendship between women, especially in this country where it's not very common. I say this as an objective fact: competition often takes over." But we're sure they have a recipe for that too. KG: "You have to understand that your value doesn't change if someone else is around. It's difficult. You tend to approach every new situation with old fears, but instead you have to be curious, willing to change your perspective. There are so many possibilities: that's being projected into the future."

There's not a day that goes by that they miss the MTV years: "It was wonderful in so many ways, but I have to say it was also a little difficult. We didn't have the resources to manage everything, but I think overall we did well," says KG. "I'm very happy to have had all those experiences, but I don't miss them." "I miss the perks more, like flying first class, the clothes," adds the other Kris, laughing. They miss the rest less, also because times were different for women, especially on television: "We faced discrimination as women, but I always preferred to channel my energy into good things. In our friendship, for example. But there were also clashes with corporate executives: I was annoyed that they sidelined us because we were female," says Grove. "We were 25, people always wanted to pit us against each other, they always wanted to choose who they liked more between us," adds Reichert.

But things have definitely changed: Kris Grove is now a Consciousness Manager and Energy Healer. To explain this to me, she reads a note on her phone ("I never know how to say it in Italian"): "I help people find mental, physical, and energetic balance to achieve their goals with greater clarity and live life more fluidly and fully." Kris Reichert, on the other hand, is a communications expert and speaker. But she's also always been a musician ("I've never made money from it, though," she's keen to point out; we remind her that this is proof positive she was serious about it). "I travel the world teaching authentic communication. Authenticity is my passion." Chatting with them, they seem decidedly convincing that they love their work. And if they have to dream big, they reply: "We'd love to go on Oprah Winfrey to talk about these things, but we'd also love to host a talk show ourselves where we can discuss the many topics we love." As they teach us: manifesting is the answer.
