Elissalde in kidney trouble

85484937vd3.jpg

France and Toulouse half-back Jean-Baptiste Elissalde is facing the possibility of surgery as he is suffering from renal colic, meaning will not be available for his side's opening Heineken Cup fixture against Bath on Sunday.

Renal colic is a very severe pain usually caused by stones in the kidney, renal pelvis or ureter. Experts describe the condition as 'probably the most excruciatingly painful event a person can endure.' Striking without warning, the pain is often described as being worse than childbirth.

Elissalde was rushed to hospital on Friday just hours before Toulouse beat Castres 28-10 in the Top 14.

Doctors are currently using ultra-sound treatment to break up the calcium stones lodged in Elissalde's kidney. If the treatment is unsuccessful, the 30-year-old international scrum-half will have to undergo surgery.

Elissalde was set to captain Toulouse on Friday in his first game back after a three-week injury lay-off caused by a torn muscle. He is no stranger to pain having played most of last season's Top 14 final with fractured ribs.

Byron Kelleher will no doubt start at scrum-half for the French champions against Bath.

 get well soon JB, worse than childbirth WOW I hope these doctors who said this were all WOMEN then I'd believe it cause watching those sex-ed videos at school I think there's nothing that tops that, self-inflicted pain I say! You'd have to pay me to do that or unless it was Clem of course!

RUGBY ONLINE, Toulouse play Bath in the H Cup and you can watch it all live! I don't know if they will show the TOP 14 or the PREMIERSHIP live too, so I will check during the coming week when the domestic competiton starts again. JUST click on the rugby photo on the right, it if doesn't work, click on download and download whatever suits you and then click on rugby photo again

I'm watching the Ospreys vs Leicster then it will be ST-Bath.

Results Heineken Cup

London Wasps 25 - 11 Castres

Toulouse 18 - 16 Bath Rugby

Leicester Tigers 12 - 6 Ospreys

WELL DONE David Skrela, his been under so much scrutiny from the Toulouse fans they have not been nice at all. And he didn't have a great game today either but his kicking game did all the talking in the dying minutes of the match. Bath were about to win 16 - 15 but up steps David, it looked like it was going wide but the ball curved into the posts and ST victory! that's for David, photos to come.
