Just got home from work and it started raining in Paris literally as I turned on the TV. So Safin's out as well. I suppose it was too much to expect him to do well. The home favourites are in trouble too - I see Gasquet's out and Monfils was struggling before the rain. Henin was having trouble with Paszek? I've seen Paszek play before, she's definitely talented. Justine looked in control but I guess the rain has interrupted her momentum. Anna, Daniela and Ana all won comfortably.

Hmmm, I'm not at all surprised by Roddick's loss but he's gotta be wondering where his game is going right now. Where's the Jimmy Connors effect? I didn't get to see any of it. British TV was showing Tim Henman losing to this 18 year old Latvian playing his first ever Grand Slam match. Ernests Gulbis is his name and he was actually pretty impressive. Novak's two sets up overnight. Hewitt had a good win. Petrova's out first round for the second year in a row! I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Some of my faves in the women's draw finally get to play their 1st round. So good luck Anna C, Daniela and Ana! I wish I could get livescores at work but they won't let us use the internet there.

Wimbledon won't start early and they don't play on the middle Sunday because they claim the grass wouldn't survive the players running on it for any longer. They are very much traditionalists though and it's taken a while for them to catch up with the others e.g. with equal prize money. But they are building a retractable roof on Centre Court which would have been unheard of a few years ago. This year there is no roof at all on Centre Court - it will look very different. I believe they're allowing three challenges per set for Wimbledon. They've got to stick some big screens up somewhere for the Hawkeye system - I don't know where they'll put them.

Well they make it sound tough to get past the door. I can kinda understand what they're aiming for. If all the members are in the industry then tfs will eventually become important in the industry for networking and trend-spotting etc. Well I'm not in the fashion industry so I just wait for some generous person to post any good attachments from tfs on Bellazon. It's only fair - after all, some of my scans/photos have been posted on there.

A lot of players won't have their first round until Wednesday or possibly later if the rain is bad. Not good for the only Slam which starts on a Sunday. All the bad English weather is getting blown down there. It is cold, windy and raining outside my window right now. Apparently in some parts of France it was snowing today.

Well that looks suitably screwed up. I see they ditched Katie Holmes for Maggie Gyllenhaal as well. A good move! I'm really looking forward to this movie, the first installment impressed me. Unfortunately it's not out for another year.

And she just has! Serena was horrible at the restart. I thought Pironkova would choke this like the 4 set points this morning. You've still gotta pick Serena to win but she's got to cut the errors. It would be the shock of the tournament if she lost now.

Mmm, Jeisa looks stunning right now. It seems to be the trend that as models get older and more established they put the weight back on that perhaps they were under pressure to keep off when they were younger. Or their metabolism is slowing down? I don't know.

From an irreverent piece by film critic Jason Solomons in today's UK Observer newspaper about this year's Cannes parties: The St Trinian's party started early, presumably because some of the girls had to be in bed. There was an arcade shooting gallery thing there and terrible food. I did meet ubermodel Lily Cole though and she is ridiculously tall. My eyes came up to her breasts, which was a bit distracting for both of us. She also said the word 'meta-textual' when discussing the film's script, which is probably a first for a model and a last for this Ealing remake - I have a dread feeling about it already. Link

Heather is quite hot. But she's made so many sucky films recently - her career has gone a bit down the pan. Her best stuff for me was Drugstore Cowboy, Boogie Nights, Bowfinger, Swingers and my fave TV show ever Twin Peaks. I remember reading an interview with her in Premiere magazine years ago in which she said she was a "sexual expert".

The men's draw is more evenly distributed. But for the women anyone in the bottom half who brings it in Paris could end up in the final. The top half is a battlefield. I can't wait for it to start but I think I'm gonna have a horrible hangover tomorrow! Playing on Sunday are Safin, Gonzo, Venus, Serena and Justine! Which channel shows Roland Garros in the States? Is the coverage any good? I believe there's two channels showing it here.

Molik's not the player she once was. If she plays like she has for most of this season Anna will win this easily. Anna's in the best quarter I think. Momo tends to choke at RG and Masha has been sucking recently due to her injury. The women's draw is so top-heavy. Justine, Serena, Jelena, Nadia, Venus and Nicole are all in the top half. Henman has potentially got Nadal in the third round. Not sure he'll make it that far though. Hewitt would get Nadal in the 4th round so I guess it's not so good for him either. Novak's draw looks nice actually. Maybe David Ferrer could be trouble for him but apart from that I think it might be plain sailing. Federer's draw is not that kind but hopefully he'll come through without too much difficulty.

You must know a few of mine by now: Men: Federer of course! Always enjoyed watching Hewitt although he does tend to rub some people up the wrong way, more so than Roddick. And the Brits - Henman and Murray. I like Safin when he's in a good spot of form but that's not really been for ages. Not a big fan of Roddick I'm afraid. I think it's because most opponents struggle so much returning his serve that the match can be quite one-dimensional. It's exciting when he plays Roger though. Women: Daniela Hantuchova and Anna Chakvetadze are top of the list. Next Justine Henin, Hingis, Dementieva and Ivanovic.

Another Man U supporter on the board. A certain someone in the football thread would not be pleased to hear that. Strange you mention that - I don't go to Man U matches but I did take a visiting friend to Old Trafford last week to get a gift for her dad. The shop there is like a supermarket. It's crazy - a proper industry going on. They've got every sort of merchandise you could think of and some you wouldn't ever think of.
