Is there any way to open back up smart or safe?

I say open back up completely because the economic devastation coming is going to be worse than Corona. We need to start making and producing things again.

You can't just mass print money and think they'll be no consequences. Hyperinflation is coming, basic goods keep on going up at the store if you pay attention. We are $127 trillion dollars in debt. We're spending to fix our problems rather than going to the root of the problems. You can't eat money.

If we as a nation don't kill ourselves first then we'll collapse economically.

A problem with these bans is if all the right wingers move to say Parler or some new right wing social media platform.  Then the schism could increase, as at least on the mainstream social media platforms their critics can criticize their statements and put a downward pressure on the movement of junk opinion and made up conspiracy theory.

If they are all on networks that are moderated by the like minded, there could be an even greater and unrestrained movement into a fantasy world, perhaps leading to more aggressive actions in the real world.  That's how the fascists and the communists developed.

Here's a solution............... just nuke all of social media, bet you mental health improves drastically.

I think if they were able to overpower the Secret service, that they would have certainly beaten if not killed Pelosi and other officials.

You mean the politicians who advocated for violence, rioting, looting, and destruction resulting in death, lives being destroyed, buildings being burned down, businesses destroyed, and suffering. Can't forget having a bail fund set up for the ones who were caught.

It's shocking to me that people are obsessed with Trump being kicked off Twitter in a week when a mob stormed the Capitol and killed a cop (whilst assaulting many other cops and stealing/destroying property).

As well as the realization that if some of those people had found the likes of Pence, Schumer, Pelosi, ... inside of the Capitol building, it's not impossible those leaders would have been harmed or even killed. There is video of groups of them chanting "Hang Mike Pence"! What exactly do we imagine could have occurred had those folks gotten to him?

The POTUS being kicked off a social media platform is not even a footnote compared to that.
