  1. What do you think of this list? http://nextimpulsesports.com/2015/02/03/hottest-sports-illustrated-swimsuit-rookies-last-10-years/#card_1167_1 I find it funny that they didn't even use Kate Bock's SI photos, and she was voted ROTY. I only remember '13 and '14 rookies so for '13 - Emily D, '14 - No face really stood out but I'll go with Bregje's body.
  2. Hopefully, SI will learn to no longer publishes the models' ages. Who cares how old they are as long are the photos are good. Just wish them happy birthday without mentioning their age.
  3. Sometime they look fake but I think most of the time I think they just tie her bikini extra tight. So I'm going to say they're natural . Samantha Hoopes based on the bodypaint photos, is another story...
  4. I guess telling people your age for models is like actresses with their age - for whatever reason no matter what you look like you might not get the job simply because of your age. Any models who you think look older than their age. Kate Upton and Samantha Hoopes to me look older.
  5. Don't all models lie about their age? In an industry where your mid late 20s is considered close to retirement age, pretending like your forever 21 seems like a requirement. I wonder what happens to models that don't make a name of themselves. Some of them state their age in this video. My guess is they're being honest here because they're talking to sports guys and not people in the fashion industry.
  6. Yeaaah, no. I don't think so. VS Swim is nothing compared to SI in terms of relevance. Sure, since they're a lingerie and swimwear company, they always promote their lines like crazy, but replacing SI, I don't see it happening. I think they are trying something new with the whole VS Swim show. The fact they're airing it during SISE release does indicate they're trying to steal some of the spotlight but I don't think VS Swim will reach SI status. But hey, I could be wrong I'm curious how it affects models that are on both sides: Lily and Sara. Did Erin leave VS or get fired for gaining weight? I always associate SI with beautiful girls but in a girl next door way. VS girls are fashiony, a little more exotic and super skinny. Men are SI demographic and Women are VS's
  7. What are people's thoughts on the VS swimsuit show due in February? Is VS trying to replace SI in social relevance.
  8. This is one of those years where I feel kinda clueless about the cover. Marissa M, Bar, Brooklyn, Irina (didn't see that one coming), Kate, Nina (I'm going to try to forget Chrissy and Lilly, ok, Lilly photographs well but her butt is not cover worthy) all made sense to me. I don't know which models are returning but none of them are particularly inspiring choices. If this is an American themed issue, then I'm thinking muti-cultural group cover. European Models - Nope. Besides Nina their features are too sharp to appeal to middle America. Sara S maybe but not solo (Portuguese is close enough to be Hispanic). Latin American Models - Was there one? Asian models - Jess Gomes - nah S. African - nope - North American - Kate Bock - too generic, her faces confuses me. I feel I should like her but I'm not enamored. It's like one giant tease. Emily D - would fit for non blonde, great face, Emily R - I think her blatant nudity in her past works hurts her, the illusion of girl next door is lost. Saw "Gone Girl" - spoiler alert you get to see hear boobs. Bastard Ben Affleck fondles and caresses those beauties. Hannah D - is she bi-racial, don't know if Derek Jeter wants here in the spotlight. Hannah F - great body, face is ok, Ariel M - those recent photos say to me, "I'm engaged to rich NFL player, to hell with dieting" Rookies - If Erin H is in the mag, then maybe she could pull it off. Good looking girl but not wow good looking.
  9. I'm curious to see with all the rookies from last year, who will come back. With all the models I wonder how many aren't interested in doing SI because their career didn't really receive the boost they expected.
  10. Kate U seems like she wants to be an actress or WAG to baseball player with $100M+ contract. The way her body has changed so much and the fact that her weight gain somehow made her even more popular, she doesn't need SI unless she gets the cover. Why bother with the hard work of modeling and having to diet and exercise to get campaigns and Vogue covers when you can force them to come to you just like the Kardashians and enners. I get why guys like her (or her heavily photoshoped version), heck I even liked her in her rookie year. She was cute and wasn't VS bony. She doesn't even seem that well liked by the other SI models. I could even sympathize with them. Her family is wealthy, her look isn't that unique, and she doesn't try maintain her shape resembling other models but one cover and her career took off.
  11. How many editor of SI Swimsuit have there been? I feel like the there has been a shift of the type of girls in the magazine. 15rs ago when I was college, I felt like the photos gave me a sense of "Man, I wish I could be there with that woman." Now, I feel like the photos are about how much skin they can show but not be nude. Those most buxom girls will most likely to get the cover. I have a feeling the choice of women has to do with the changing landscape of print advertising and internet advertising. For example: they need a girl who can do the those tacky Hardee/Carl's Jr commercials (Kate Upton, Nina Agdal, Hannah Ferguson, Emily Ratkowski) which goes to some rookie except in 2013 (Kate Bock, Hannah D, Emiliy D., Natasha B). Kate Bock was even rookie of the year, and I just saw her in Maxim which can't be good for your career. On a side note, the new Maxim looks like it is trying to be GQ or Esquire. It seems the path to SI Swimsuit Cover is to stay relevant by either dating a professional athlete(Irina, Hannah D, Brooklyn D. Kate U), musician (Chrissy T, Lilly, Nina (seen with Adam Levine, and Leo Decaprio). And you have to market yourself any way possible by being bffs with other celebs (Chrissy T) and doing weird tacky viral videos (Kate U).
