Who cares about the cover. Who is going to get the next Carl Jr/ Hardees commercial? I'm actually shocked Sara S got the commercial. It actually wasn't that bad compared to their past commercials. Two models from '14 class got commercials, Hannah F and Sara. Who from this year will get it? Meh, SI is going downhill fast.

I read an interview with Brooklyn Decker where she talked about how she wasn't that good of a model before SI, and thought about quitting because she wasn't working that much. Outside of SI she really didn't model that much. It made me think how SI selects their new models. Let's say 4-5 new models a year. 1-2 Serious unknowns (e.g. Kate Bock, Kelly Rohrbach, Samantha Hoopes, Kate Upton...), 1-2 models known in the fashion world (Emily Didonato, Sara S, Hailey C, Alyssa M, models that couldn't quite breakthrough in High Fashion), 1-2 somewhat known outside of fashion or very accomplished models (Emily R,former VS angels (Izabel G, Erin H, Lily). The unknowns seem to be the most interesting because of the hit or miss nature. The Good: Brooklyn, The Bad: Samantha Hoopes, The Ugly: Chrissy Known fashion models are reliable have unique faces and produce generally good work probably trying to transition out of high fashion. More accomplished models are willing to try for 1-3 years to get the cover but will bolt when Kate Upton and Chrissy get covers.

Kelly won because of the Old Navy commercial. People rushed to the stores to buy the pants that were on deal and went online to thank Kelly that what caused the last minute surge in votes. I don't think the models get paid to photograph for SI. I'm assuming it is like most editorial work. It is about exposure and you can either marry a rich athlete/celeb or get campaign work for some mainstream fashion like Gap, Lands End etc

Now that ROTY is settled. Which rookie model will get the stupid Carl Jr/ Hardees commercial? Unless Charlotte Mckinney has become a thing .... oh no....

I can't believe they turned this into a five one hour tv shows. My impressions of the show. 1. The editors of SI sure do like to complain about their job. 2. I kind of understand now why models aren't tv personalities. I thought being attractive was the main qualification like being Fox news reporter but some just don't have the personality for tv. 3. Even if modeling and photography aren't actually the sexiest jobs in the world at times. Sell it like it is. Your audience doesn't want to know how crappy your job can be because we all have jobs that are crappy to some degree. I'm beginning to think the Travel channel just said "Look, we're not going to give you any money or give you any people to help edit,but we'll air what you got. Think of it as free advertisement." Which to MJ Day means, " Oh, I'll just interview myself and Darcie to fill most of the show."

It's like the Hannah D cover or VS runway girls, Makeup contouring, padding, pushup bra type material, photoshopping all give that illusion. Maybe member who have seen these girls at the events can chime in. To me she looks great, just not 22 yrs old great....and there are other SI boobs to inspect.

Some thoughts about this year's issue and online photos. I hate to say it but a lot of the models appear quit soft especially in the midsection. I don't want them to be VS runway thin, like I think Lilly looks better here than in the VS show because she is not crazy skinny. Boobs some of the models have plenty of boobage no need need squish them flat with too tight tops, same goes for the bottoms there is the bikini muffin top going on. I've had this argument before but I'm totally convinced Kate Bock's boobs are real if not underwhelming for swimsuit photography I actually like Kate Bock, I think she has an elegant look that I like. She doesn't really have that sultry bombshell look, so I can understand why people aren't fans. Her butt and boobs aren't off the charts. Rookies... meh. Hailey and Erin I would like to see in better shape. I like Rose she knows swimsuit photography isn't high fashion- have fun and be flirtatious. I can't stand that Kelly in her video and interviews keeps wanting to convince us she is an actress. The fact that she attended Greenwich HS in Connecticut makes me think her dad is like some finance/ hedge fund type or family connections got her the job kinda like Gigi. Photography is NOT like movies without words, and if your acting character's title is "hottie" I doubt you even spoke more than one or two words. I'm pretty sure Samanth Hoopes doesn't exist without being a Guess girl. Adding plus sized models is direct response to get advertising.

Coming from a guy this sounds weird but Kate B looks better in the bikini than topless or naked. I don't like her hair wet, I had the same problem with her rookie year in Chile.

I'm not sure to blame Yu Tsai or the models.

I like that Kelly calls herself an "actress", and then describes her character's name is "young hottie". I wouldn't be an a rush to call myself an actress if I were her.

I find it odd that some models do it for so long. Irina already got the cover so I don't know why she continues to do it. SI does need an entire makeover, but I would argue it starts with MJ. She selects the location, the models, the design, the cover(ugggh). When MJ does interviews it rubs me the wrong way for some reason... like she's auditioning for reality tv.

I like the 2013 photo. It looks the models don't realize the exchange floor is not a club floor.

A few thoughts. 1. Kate U was rumored to be dating Mark Sanches, back then he was a big deal because the NY Jets football team was winning back then, her current bf is baseball pitcher, he is rich but not famous. Her body was over the top different that it kind of took a life of its own plus she seized viral videos and did a great job marketing herself. 2. Derek Jeter is famous among men. As a guy I watch ESPN, his retirement was some ridiculously drawn out ceremony after ceremony. I love watching all majors sports but hate baseball, and ESPN was constantly airing segments about him. Men watch ESPN more than any program and it is not even close. 3. Photoshop and bikini size - I had this argument about Kate Bock boobs being fake. Between the bikini size, the makeup contouring, and photoshop a lot of the models boobs look fake. 4. ROTY - does it really matter. Hannah D wasn't.

I like Hannah Davis but it is pretty obvious that with Brooklyn D, Kate U, Chrissy, Lily, Nina as past covers, that SI is giving covers to models that some type of social relevance beyond modeling. They are no longer taking unknown models and trying to make them household names. It has become a business decision because the magazine industry is dying. Cover models are now required to date someone famous or important to men. Derek Jeter's role cannot be understated. MJ's quote "There's no person, there's no place. The best photo wins. Period." I don't believe this for a second.

I have no idea what nextimpulse is... somehow it is affiliated with SI. I was just curious of members own ROTY list. I know Kate B and Sara won through online voting. The validity of the online voting thing though is highly suspicious mainly because I don't know how Kate B won by a landslide when that year Emily D, Hannah D, and Natasha B were there as well. How were the other girls chosen to be ROTY?
