  1. The Oilman’s Daughter is available all this week, but then it’s booked everyday until the end of July. I wonder if Leo will pop up somewhere other than Oklahoma this week.
  2. The dances at Grayhorse were held the first week of June. Here are some pix .

  4. Thanks, Jade! That's very interesting.
  5. So, I'm going to start by telling about some of my personal history. My grandfather was one of the native children that were forced to leave their homes and attend US run boarding schools where they were abused and forcibly stripped of their language and culture. Because of this, a lot of language and culture has been lost to me, and I have been striving and working for many, many years to reclaim my heritage and culture. Living in the capitol of Cherokee Nation and working for Cherokee Nation has helped this quest tremendously. I have even been learning how to speak and write Cherokee for the past several years. It's a hard language to learn and there aren't many people to speak it with. As I mentioned in a previous post, when I started out on my PhD journey, it was due to a love of psychology as well as a program called American Indians into Psychology (AIIP). This program helped PhD candidates such as myself, who are Native American, to be able to become psychologists and bring back our training and services to our Native American communities. I now mainly work with Native American children and their families (all tribes, not just Cherokee), who have suffered trauma. Several years ago, a group of us who were just starting out in the AIIP program, were invited to several tribal celebrations of different tribes throughout the state of Oklahoma. Each tribe performed a blessing ceremony on us which was amazing and something I will never forget. We got to attend dinners, dances, sweat lodges, bon fires, etc.. As someone who had a lot (not all thank goodness) of thier culture stripped away, this tour of the nations was a life changing experience. At the Osage Nation, I got to celebrate with them during their June celebrations and attend the dinner and dances. I've been back a few times since then as well. Dances/powwows are not a part of Cherokee culture. They never have been. Cherokee Nation does hold an intertribal powwow in September, where other tribes from all over the US come and dance. Dancing, however, is a big part of Osage culture. Watching them dance is inspiring and I always get chills. I have learned a little bit about their dances, but not much. I know they have three locations in Oklahoma where they dance. The dances occur over 12 days in June. Each location takes turns hosting the celebration for four days. Dinner is always served before hand as a way to nourish the communitiy's body and soul and create fellowship. Each of the Osage dances have particular meaning, and women are.only allowed to dance in a couple of them. I'm not familiar with anymore than that. I know this was a lot more information than you asked for and are probably interested in knowing, but I didn't want to just say, "I don't really know." 😁
  6. I'm not sure if there is a particular reason why they take place in June. Most, but not all, dances/powwows occur in the summer. Probably, because people come from all over the country and some are coming back home to see family and since the kids are out of school, it makes it a better time to travel. June in Oklahoma is hot and humid, but July and August take hot and humid to another level. It's like being in a sauna on the surface of the sun. The Osage dances in Grayhorse are held outside, and wearing regalia is hot and stifling, so that may be why they are held in June instead of the later summer months.
  7. I thought I would give some insight into why they might be using an owl in KOTFM. The pix below were taken from The_daily_leo_dicaprio IG. In some Native American cultures, definitely my tribe, Cherokee, owls are associated with death. In Cherokee culture, it is believed that if you see an owl, especially a horned owl, you will experience death in someway. It could be the death of someone close to you or your own death. Of course, I’m just guessing as to why they needed an owl to fly through a window into a house. However, knowing what the movie is about, an owl appearing to a Native character in this way makes sense.
  8. Fairfax is even smaller than Pawhuska. I looked it up to see if just seemed small, or if it is actually as small it seems when you drive through it. Yep, it really is a tiny town. The town only covers 489 acres. It’s so small they can’t even measure it in miles 😂640 acres=1 square mile. Fairfax is a 30 minute drive from Pawhuska and an hour drive from Bartlesville. Geographically, Pawhuska is stuck right in between Fairfax and Bartlesville. I haven’t heard about any Leo sightings this week, so they have been keeping mostly indoors. Based on the casting calls, they have a wedding scene and court/investigative type scenes coming up in the next couple weeks. I absolutely love that picture of Leo being blessed by Osage elders! I was lucky enough to be blessed by both the Osage and Cherokee elders when I started on my PhD journey. It’s a lovely ceremony. Right now is about the time the Osage are having their tribal dinners and ceremonial dances. I hope Leo and Marty get to observe these.
  9. TODAY’S CASTING CALL Okay this is a strange one and the only thing I can think of is that Maria Tallchief, who was a ballerina (Google her), and from Fairfax, OK might be featured in the film in some way. June 10, 2021 Ballet Instructor Needed For Major Feature Film A female ballet instructor is needed to appear as a background performer in a major feature film, now shooting in Oklahoma. This woman must be an actual ballet instructor. Filming will be in the Pawhuska, OK area and is scheduled for June 30, with a brief rehearsal June 29. Since the film takes place in 1920s Oklahoma, the woman selected would need to attend a costume fitting in Bartlesville, OK, sometime prior to filming. Pay for filming is a guarantee of $100/day per day. Anything over 8 hours incurs overtime pay. Rehearsal is paid at a guarantee of $50/day, and should only take a few hours.
  10. I think the person just meant there are hundreds of people waiting there at the restaurants in order to capture a glimpse of Leo and it would be an unfortunate madhouse if they did anything but swiftly pass by. Not that Leo or Marty have or ever will request them to be shut down. I think it would be the restaurants' preference to shut down for everyone's safety, especially their staff's safety. Oxford Thanks for the video I just remembered that I never updated you on my friend going over and checking out the train tracks. I probably forgot, because she didn't really have anything to report. She said Leo was there before she got there and he walked by some people and said "howdy" to them. She was told she missed him on set by about 15 minutes. She said she missed him, because her mother decided she wanted to go into a shop called the Pink Flamingo on the way over there which caused them to just miss him. My friend was a little upset and she said she told her mother she could walk home 😂😆.
  11. Jade Thanks for the R&J pic and the article! A few more tidbits of information I have gathered from talking to various people. Leo and Marty are mostly lodged in Bartlesville which is about 30 minutes away from Pawhuska. Bartlesville is bigger than Pawhuska. Before filming started, Leo stayed several times at The Oilman’s Daughter. Since filming started, he seems to be using The Oilman’s Daughter as his trailer in between being needed on set. The house is only a couple blocks away from the Pawhuska set. Some of his people also seem to be staying there at various times. He has been flying in and out of a private air field in Bartlesville. Marty’s Pawhuska trailer is located by the Simple Simon’s. I believe there has been a video of Marty posted here of him headed into his trailer. Neither Leo or Marty has eaten in any of Ree Drummond’s establishments. I was told by Ree’s staff that there is probably no way they would come eat there unless they shut down the restaurant to everyone else which they have not. However, it’s possible they order take away and we will never know. One of Ree’s staff said Leo’s black car drove by after leaving the set one evening and stopped and Leo rolled down the window and waved to around 100 people who had gathered in front of the pizza place. Other than that, they haven’t seen him.
  12. I was told they test everyday on the KOTFM set. Don’t know if it’s everyone that gets tested everyday or just the extras.
  13. I can still get a call. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks Jade and Oxford for the articles. 🙂
  14. TODAY’S CASTING CALL June 7, 2021 Country Dancers & Wedding Guests For Major Feature Film A new round of background performers have been announced for a major feature film, now shooting in Oklahoma. They need to be people who have not yet appeared as extras in the film. Filming will be in the Pawhuska, and/or Fairfax, OK area. The persons selected would need to attend a costume fitting in Bartlesville, OK, sometime during the week of June 14-18. While the scenes are taking place on or about certain dates, some of the people will be invited back to appear in several more days of the film, based on the person's availability. Relatively open availability on Mondays-Fridays is preferred, but not mandatory. There is no filming on weekends. Pay is a guarantee of $100/day for up to 10 hours per day, per person. Any weeks over 40 hours incur overtime. Covid testing and wardrobe fitting is also paid at a guarantee of $40/day up to 4 hours per person.
  15. Glad you liked the videos. Sometimes I forget to post some here. In fact, I don’t think I’ve posted this one here yet. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeEaa1Jo/ I was told how many people were working on the film, but I can’t remember the exact number I was told. It’s thousands though. When talking to community members who have met and talked with Leo and Marty, they all are very complimentary about both of them. An Osage elder told me they were impressed by Leo’s respectfulness and authenticity in wanting to know more about the culture. I still have not been contacted to be an extra. Of course, I’m disappointed, but in a way relieved, because it would be very difficult for me to make it work. I would make it work though if I’m ever called. I’ve talked to some other “biracial natives” that haven’t been called either, we have deduced that we don’t look native enough to play a native and we don’t look Caucasian enough to play a Caucasian. You also have to be small enough to fit into the period costumes that they have available which is a size 6 or smaller for women. One more thing, in my videos, you can see some of the extras drinking carton water instead of bottled water. Obviously, this is better for the environment. We do not have carton water in Oklahoma, so I’m assuming they are having it shipped in from California.
  16. New video of Leo on set. https://www.instagram.com/p/CPvyCcdHEaJ/?utm_medium=copy_link
  17. You’re welcome! 😊 I haven’t checked back in with my friend yet, so don’t have any updates.
  18. The Drummonds have a lot of money and power in the ranching community in the state and nationally. They have been ranchers in Oklahoma since the early 1900’s. They have donated a lot of money to universities that teach animal husbandry in the state and have a building named after them on Oklahoma State University campus. Ree married into the family 20 some years ago and started a blog about daily ranch wife life. She became Internet famous from her blog. She then self published a cookbook. Then got offered a show on Food Network. She now has a line of cookware that gets sold in a big box store, Walmart, here in the USA. She still lives and films her show on the Drummond Ranch in Pawhuska. She owns several businesses in the downtown Pawhuska area that attract her fans.
  19. Jade 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂 Here’s some more footage of our trip to the set Wednesday. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeKMQ7Lw/

  21. One of my Pawhuska friends said this is indeed down by the train tracks. Now I wish we had gone over there on Wednesday. Had planned on it, but ran out of time. Darn it! My friend is in downtown Pawhuska right now, so I asked her to go to the train tracks to see if anything was going on today.
  22. There are some shops open that are not owned by the Drummonds, yes. Yes, P town pizza is Ree’s. Charlie’s is the name of her ice cream/candy shop. It’s named after one of her basset hounds. Ranching is the main economy.
  23. Pretty much 😆 There are only three other restaurants I know about that are there. Not sure how the Drummond family feel about the filming of this movie. Everyone around there knows the history of the acquisition of all their land in the middle of Osage Territory is quite nefarious.
