  1. I just wanted to say - I watched the Canne's opening live. And Leo was the cuttest man on earth, it was raining ( even if they were bodyguards with umbrellas ) and even that Leo came to sign autographs and greets the fans who were waiting there instead of being on the red carpet and not just two seconds but really all the fans and they were a journalist who tried to asked to him question and Leo tried his best to answered them but the bodyguard pushed him, he takes on HIS own time for them ( the fans ), he's I think the only one of the cast who did this, it was adorable. And during the whole ceremony when the host Audrey Tautou talked and the most of the time they were big face's plan of Leo, he was so beautiful and full of smile, he looked so happy to be here. He also came to the scene with Amitabh, and he looked very happy to saw again Steven Spielberg, the first thing he did was to saluted him... So happy and proud that he was the one who oppened the festival - Ok this post is totally pointless but I just had to share this with you girls The Great Italian Fanclub of Leo's leodicaprio.it who are in Cannes just confirmed that Leo was the one of the cast who came greets fan with a lot of wind and rain. This is our Leo. Cute pics of Leo and Steven seing each other again ; Here's pic of the beautiful speech of Amitabh and Leo at Cannes as said Audrey Tautou "The King of Boolywood and the Prince of Hollywood" /monthly_05_2013/post-60966-0-1593845357-43298_thumb.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="168796365.jpg">

  8. I think Leo is already in Cannes - then ? This guys he is in Cannes ! Tweet of yesterday ; And then an interresting fact ‏ And also I don't know if it's accurate, because the most of time Cannes is covered here in France by a channel Canal Plus - and the show Le Grand Journal but there's a lot of chances it's possible too ; Another tweet that is accurate, the guy who will receive Leo is a very famous presentator here in France - for the radio the 18 and 19 May ; And I am glad you like the video guys
  9. Here are Canne's preparation for Gatsby's After - Party ; http://translate.goo...te.1253522.html I just edited - I found this tweet so great ;
  10. I know this is pointless but there is so many amazing tweets about Gatsby that I had to post them...
  11. I don't know if you guys have read the new Leo's interview for Femina, so I translated it I posted in spoiler because it's very very very long sorry... and also there's a lot of chances that there's thousand of mistakes as English isn't my first langage... So sorry guys ! "How did you react when Baz Luhrmann told you about Gatsby?" -I told him that he was crazy to adress to such a big monuments of the American's literature. And that's what intrigued me - and it was very tempting. Baz is a visionary with such a big enthusiasm it's irresistible and aspiring. Once face to him his eyes full of stars. It's impossible to tell him no. "And then ?" - We're reunited with him (/Baz/) and Tobey (Maguire) who's like a brother for me since I'm 13. Our intention was to define the parameters of our collaboration - And the process was passionating. Baz loves to recreate everything when he does a movie. I remember the first takes of Romeo + Juliet in 1995 in Australia. At this time, I was totally abashed by his way to approached a movie. It seemed weird to talk in the langage of Shakespeare while evolved in a universe like this ( musics, clothes - ) However everything worked so great ! - "Was it the same for Gatsby? " Baz knows the novel by heart and can recites entire part of it. He really wanted to respect this novel but at the sametime add his own vision of it - with that virtuosity that is he's own. Gatsby evolved in an America in a total turn of history - in a total economics "boom" in the total frenzy of the 20s and the Jazz who mean so many dreams of this time. Before the krach of 1929 and the big depressiveness who decimated everything. All these elements that Baz play with like references who are in such a way the mirors of our time. I found it fascinating. - "How can you describe Jay Gatsby?" He's a mysterious man. With a big and great emptiness, with such a desire, he tries his best for fulfill this emptiness. He wants to find the love of his live Daisy Buchanan with who he felt in love 5 years ago. He is the son of a poor farmer, he denied his origins and broke up with his family. He has made fortune with suspicious activity and transformed into this man in this emblematic person who looks like living an amazing life. But he's a tragic human being, totally alone. Alone in his life and his crazy parties but also with Gatsby theres a kind of innocence plagued by this obsession for Daisy and this desire to be accept by this social elite that he tries his best to integrate. By many aspects, he's very difficuel to indentify. - "How did you become Gatsby ?" First by reading the book, I first read it in Junior high school, for a work we had to do in which we had to compare the book and the 1974's movie with Robert Redford. I also discovered Trimalchio, previous version unknown where Fitzerald adopts a different narrative's structure. Also they were 3 adaptations on the big screen, a silent's one in 1926, focused by the aesthetic of Public Ennemies, Scarface. And I also rewatch the one with Robert Redford. - "And for the character's style ?" Gatsby reinvented himself. He's dress up as a businessman with a dandy's style like if he has made his wardrobe with publicity's magazine. With a bad fancy's taste. And this Duesenberg yellow showy. A lot of flashy things that betray his recent fortune. - "What Carey Mulligan bring to her character - Daisy Buchanan?" We met a lot of girls for Daisy. Daisy needed to have this innocence, a fancy's side, and her noble blood that she wants but can't discard. She's in love of Gatsby but the most important things for her is the way people look at her. Daisy, more than the first glance is this American's dreaming women. But when the things go wrong she came in the boat of this man that she's supposed to be the wife in regards to the society. Carey Mulligan has this sophistication and the cleverness for could give to the crew this other way of Daisy. When she came to the casting, she has immediatly understood all these things. She's amazing in this movie. - "What's make Baz Luhrmann a unique director ?" -His amazing perfectionism /laughs/. You give to him 15minutes of shooting and he finds one thousand other things to do. I adore his imagination, his artistical sense, his inventiveness. When he makes a movie, absolutely everything is in brackets, for being totaly dedicated to the creation of extraordinary universe. And at the meantime he results you in an unique aventure. - "The Great Gatsby ends by a famous line ( the one with the green light ) What does it mean to you ?" ( If you guys didn't read Gatsby and don't know what's happening in the end then it's way better if you don't read this answer, ALL the spoilers ) - AH the green light... For me, it's mean something unattainable and melancholic. We can of course interpret this in some others way. This is all the magic of Fitzerald. Is this Daisy ? The symbol and obsession of Gatsby for her ? The dream that will never be realize ? And as well this question who's always in my mind ; if Gatsby didn't died in the end, would he be one day finally happy ? - "Baz has choosen to shot in 3D..." - Yes a format the most of times who's use in big Hollywood's movies. Baz used this as dramatic's purporses, and it never been exploited like this before. So the crow will feel better and more close to the characters, of their feelings. When we read the book, we have this troublesome feelings to be an intruder of what's happening beetwen them. Fitzerald was the first to make these things very realistic. The way of how Baz uses 3D strengthens these feelings. When he shoots his big and fancy parties with more than three thousands extras. - "The film will open the Cannes film festival, it'll be your 4 time there. What are your memories ?" - The first I came here, I've never seen anything like that. I thought I lived a scene from la Dolce Vita ! It was SO crazy but amazing ! Cannes is really the place when we feel the love for the cinema. It's not surprising that it is still the best festival in the world. I love come here of course ! There is a lot of obligations, meeting, interview. We don't have 1 minutes, it's really hard. But we are completely carried into this whirlwind of excitement. - "In the end of the year, we'll find you in The Wolf of Wall Street, your 5th collaboration with Martin Scorsese. Can you talk about your first meeting ?" - It was in a pub, here in NYC. I've known him thank's to Robert De Niro, who introcued me to him. I even think that Robert talked about Marvin's Room with him that we just shot in 1996, First of all he told me that he really liked What's Eating Gilbert Grape, I was schocked that he saw one of my movie and that he knew me ! But we have to know that Marty is an absolutely fan of movies, he sees everything and I can defy everyone to know more than him about that subject. I was very excited about that. And I hoped that one day I will have the chance to work with him. And this is finally happened with Gang's of New York. - "How can you explain this relationship of more than 11 years ?" - Hard to define. We can say first that we share the same enthusiastic and the same tastes for movies. Ironically, more of our project were offered for us at the sametime. As Shutter Island - The Departed. It's me who has suggested to him The Aviator and The Wolf of Wall Street. And about Gang's of New York, it was his own idea. Well it's an organic process beetween us. We have really a simple relationship when we are on set. We work a lot, we do everything for make the best movie we can. There's such a comprehension beetween us - about the character we want to create and also about the risks that we are ready to take together ! Our collaboration last like this. I don't know how many times. All that I can say is that I became a better actor each time I work with him and I understand always more. It's crazy to say that we're directed by Martin Scorsese, and far of me the idea of being "tired" of this. - "The Wolf of Wall Street" is the the adaptation of the memories of Jordan Belfort, ex-trader, plunger and rogue broker, he was incarcerated in 1993..." - While I'm talking here I realize that this movie made with Django Unchained and The Great Gatsby, a kind of trilogy completely American. These three movie are all in three differents times but with the same theme. The destructive power of the money who's leading man goes to the heaven and also into the deepest. To plantation owner who reigns over his slaves like Louis XIV on his kingdom and to Gatsby who makes his fortune in the darkest way --- and who paid is life with an unfinished dream and also Belfort who gets enriched in ripping off. Like him he feels ( Belfort ) above the laws. - "Did you meet Jordan Belfort ?" - Of course, yes. A lot of times. He's such a storyteller, totally conscious of what he did. Sex, drugs, crazy way to live. And the movie will be like this. It will be just crazy ! - "Jean Dujardin played a Swiss banker..." - He amazed me ! Especially during a scene of improvisation in where he is just raging, foolish humor. It was great, to see that after his Oscar, he stays normal, he's very a cool guys. - "For the first time in your career, you don't have any project..." - I'll just do a little pause well deserved. It doesn't mean that I will stop acting or that I'll take a retreat, like we could have read in the medias. I've made three movies back to back so I need some rest. I also will devote a lot of time for environment and my fundation. - "What do you like the most about being an actor ?" - What I love the most is that can escape for 4, 5 or 6 months in a set. Have a new identity of a character. And sometimes just to few seconds BOUM /He snaps his fingers/ you forget totally who you are, the daily life, the reality of the outisde's world. There's nothing better. I have a big chance and I'm very very very lucky to have lived those moments like this. - "Which actors impressed you recently ?" A lot, Joaquin Phoenix in The Master. Tom Hardy is incredibly in Bronson. Bradley Cooper was great in SLP, and I love everything Tobey does... And as well Daniel Day-Lewis. Before he did Lincoln, I dreamt of him as Lincoln ! It was just after I met Steven Spielberg who was worried because he has not new of him. I send him a message asking, Where he was with this role. As a fan I wanted this project to be realize. Nobody could do a better job than him. - "How do you see your responsability today?" - Everyone ask me this question. In fact, nothing really changed since my beginning when I was 15, when I start my cinema's education with movies. My intention was to could one day be at the point of actor as De Niro and others. It is still true today. Having the privilege to do movies is like winning the Loto, that's what I felt when I had my first movies. My only wish is too can still give the best of myself on the big screen. And then in the others pages there's Baz Lurhmann who puts notes on each of the behind the scenes pics. 1/ ( The first pic Leo/Carey - ) Baz ; Leo and Carey are laughing while I'm preparing a plan of the bal-scene. Early on the day, Carey had an accident with Leo like usual, Leo acted like a gentleman, being kind with Carey and everyone who were on the set. 2/ ( The pic Baz is behind Leo with his glasse - ) The first day of shooting. Leonardo is always laughing and joking of me because of my obsession with hair/hair-style but that's the rule of my society of production Bazmark "communication, transport, accomodation and haircut". A failed hair-cut can make a scene totally naught and the actor's acting. It's important for an actor to being well haircut/ 3/ ( The pic in which Leo and Carey are under the tree - ) This pland looks wonderful. But in few seconds, it's started raining - and we had to re-shot immediatly. 4/ ( The pic where Leo has the big ring and is talking on the phone - ) I found Leonardo totally beautiful in this scene. It's the moment where Gatsby begings to cracks, and in which he becomes more, more and more obsessional. When he's calling Nick for ask a serve we can easily see that he is less taned and have less make-up. 5/ ( In which there's Leo and Tobey - ) Gatsby and Nick are watching the show of this underground bar - the scene is inspiring by the description of novel and of some documantaries that we've reunited around illegals etablishment during the 20s.
