Jada Pinkett Smith
Jada Pinkett Smith (born Jada Koren Pinkett on September 18, 1971) is an American actress and singer. She was born to Robson Pinkett Jr. and Adrienne Banfield in Baltimore, Maryland. Her father was a contractor and her mother was a nurse. They divorced after only a few months of marriage. She majored in theatre at the Baltimore School for the Arts, where she met fellow classmate Tupac Shakur with whom she developed a close friendship. In the documentary Tupac: Resurrection, Shakur says, "Jada is my heart. She will be my friend for my whole life." Also in this documentary, Smith calls Shakur "one of my best friends. He was like a brother. It was beyond friendship for us. The type of relationship we had, you only get that once in a lifetime." The two remained close friends until Shakur's death in 1996. After graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts, Smith then spent a year at the North Carolina School of the Arts before dropping out to pursue her career in acting. Smith is also a prominent member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the oldest historically black collegiate sorority in the United States. Her big break came in 1991 when she was cast in the part of a college freshman on the NBC television sitcom A Different World (1987), a spin-off of The Cosby Show. She made her feature film debut two years later in Menace II Society (1993). She did not gain widespread recognition, however, until her role opposite Eddie Murphy in the remake of The Nutty Professor (1996). In addition to being in front of the camera, she has spent time behind it, directing music videos. She has also created "Maja," a line of women's T-shirts and dresses that are mostly sold through small catalogs. Pinkett-Smith married rapper/actor Will Smith on December 31, 1997, and together they have a son, Jaden Christopher Syre Smith (b. July 8, 1998); and a daughter, Willow Camille Reign Smith (b. October 31, 2000). She is also stepmother to Smith's son from a previous marriage, Willard "Trey" Smith III (b. 1992). Jada is also currently involved as the vocalist in a Alternative metal band called Wicked Wisdom, which released a self-titled debut album on February 21, 2006. The band also toured Ozzfest in the summer of 2005 as part of the second stage lineup.

- Lauryn Hill
Lauryn Hill (born May 25, 1975 in South Orange, New Jersey), is a seven-time Grammy award winning musician, and record producer. Initially establishing her reputation as the most visible and vocal member of The Fugees, she continued on to a solo career, releasing The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and the controversial MTV Unplugged No. 2.0. Lauryn Hill attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. She was an active vocal student, cheerleader, and performer. Hill began her acting career very early. Her earliest roles included the TV show As the World Turns (as Kira Johnson in 1991), and the film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. In Sister Act 2, Hill became widely recognized as both a capable actress and an extremely talented musician. Hill's gifted voice was demonstrated in her renditions of "Joyful, Joyful" and "His Eye Is on the Sparrow" (a duet with Tanya Blount) in Sister Act 2. But her singing gained worldwide acclaim with the Fugees' remake of "Killing Me Softly," accompanied by a sample from A Tribe Called Quest's "Bonita Applebum". Since her emergence, Lauryn Hill has made her presence known as one of the few artists in the industry who can both sing and rap skillfully, and being dominant & respected in both styles. The Refugee Camp ("Fugees"), formed after Prakazrel "Pras" Michel approached Hill in high school about joining a music group he was creating. Soon after, she met Pras's cousin and fellow Haļ“©an immigrant, Wyclef Jean. At some point, Lauryn Hill was given the alias "L Boogie," as she began to convert her poetic writing into impressive rap verses. Though the Fugees had formed in 1988, Hill's membership was somewhat disrupted by her acting and her education at Columbia University. Her other acting work includes the film King of the Hill (as Arletta the Elevator Operator), the play Club XII with MC Lyte, and the motion pictures Hav Plenty (1997) and Restaurant (1998). She appeared as a singer on the soundtracks for Conspiracy Theory in 1997 (on the track "Can't Take My Eyes Off You") and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood in 2002 (on the track "Selah," a song dedicated to her second child, daughter Selah).- Lips
