  1. 35 years since they made a decent record? Excuse me, your musical inexperience is showing! That's only your opinion, and I would guess that you're too young to even be alive 35 years ago. Sure, they use younger celebrities for appeal, (I guess, if you say so), but most of them do it because they recognize the legend that is the Rolling Stones. Unlike you, they understand the talent and historical impact of the Stones, and feel a commitment to recognize it.

And Emma Frost, yes, you should wait for something valid to say. It would come off a lot better than you bitching and moaning incomprehensibly.

For someone who has been on this earth probably twice as long as I have you come across as quite immature. Telling people how to behave on a forum when nothing they said is offensive, isn't what I'd categorize as a 'valid' statement. Your condescending tone is annoying; the very IDEA that you are entitled to teach people here manners, discussion style or anything else is preposterous, especially when you contradict yourself by choosing to insult someone.

You like the Rolling Stones. Evangline Lilly went to a re-release of one of their albums, which might or might not indicate she likes their music. Does it matter? Because there's no way we can find out for sure without calling her up and quizzing her about her music taste. Opinions are opinions and you're sure entitled to have yours, as long as you don't force it upon others.

Thanks Expresso, I totally agree with everything you said. :)

  2. I wonder what it is that makes YOU so bitchy. Very amusing, though. ^^ (And since when do I bitch and moan incomprehensibly... That's news to me.)

But hey, I guess I'm not the only one who is most annoyed by your music - debate... I guess "presumption" is your second given name? Or am I mistaken?

And then I want to add something to what you said earlier:

"That's a great observation, frenchkiki! I've been waiting for someone to say that! Yes, I'd much rather hear some serious opinion rather than "amazing!". What's amazing about a picture of a pretty girl? It's not amazing, it's just the way she looks! Sure, there's a lot of beautiful celebrities out there...but what's amazing about it? They're just lucky enough to be beautiful. You don't look at an ugly girl and say amazing! It's not amazing, it's genetics. "

Some people here comment on posts because they like a certain outfit, a certain hairstyle or they think a photo is very good (but I guess you think praising good photographers is bad, too). I wonder what's your aim... Do you want people to have serious debates? Then why are you here and not in a political forum? Or do you just want to spoil the fun for some of us? O_o

  3. The dark hair... still needs to grow on me. ^^

I love her style in OTH, the leather jackets and so on. Feminine but still not the way the other characters look like...

  4. So now it is not adequate anymore if we just say words of praise for a star we really like? Because I think Evangeline is really pretty and natural. But I should rather be silent unless I've something more "valid" to say?

  5. I totally agree. The Oscars should go to movies which are more than just entertaining... (except for categories such as Best Special effects, of course)

And movies like The Hurt Locker are more than entertaining? Movies like Avatar are the reason why people go to the movies in the first place. You watch movies(like Avatar) to get entertained; that's the purpose of movies. If I want to think about the war I watch the news. Now don't get me wrong, I liked the other movies a lot. But after seeing The Hurt Locker, I had no intention to see it again(and still don't).

But who cares, people like the movie or they don't. Winning oscars doesn't make a movie any better.

Mbinebri said it in her comment: "because the Oscars shouldn't sell its integrity to reverse the trend of declining ratings by catering to the film that brought in the most money?"

I don't say "Stop enjoying Avatar, it's shit!" I just say that IMO there are other criteria's why a movie should win such an important award. It's not just about being entertaining and making the most money...

And just for the records, I don't have the intention to see Avatar a second time. So if that's your criteria...

  6. Despite being the only one on Earth who hasn't seen this movie, if it wins the big Oscars, I'm going to throw up. It's already bad enough the Grammys gave the top award to a generic country-pop album by a singer who can't even stay on key. This would leave the Oscars with as much credibility as the MTV Movie Awards. :ninja:

  7. Sure, I'd never claim that most movies nowadays have an original plot. I definitley agree.

To me it still needs a good plot to make a good movie. You can have your opinion, I have mine. I'd choose any movie with a good original plot over a work which doesn't suceed in surprising me at all because it's just too predictable. Like said before, my opinion. Maybe my expectations are set up too high but I can't help it (and don't want to).

It's the same with the Dan Brown - books. Just because everyone else likes it that doesn't mean that I have to like it as well...

Still I don't regret watching Avatar. It was entertaining to a certain degree. It had its good moments and a good cast. But I stick with my opinion that it isn't more than a sci-fi-spectacle with great effects and a rather lame story.

  8. The special effects were amazing but they can't make up for the extremely lame plot. You just had to watch the trailer once to know 80 % of the story and you could figure out the other 20% in the first ten minutes of the film. ;P Sorry, but the effects alone don't make a great film.
